Johnson has rare appearance in Jan.: The Sports Xchange reports Flames D Aaron Johnson played for the first time in 12 games on Wednesday against the Stars, having been a healthy scratch since the Jan. 2 game against the Toronto Maple Leafs. He had no points in 11:24 of ice time and finished at minus-1.

Johnson has produced one goal and three points in 22 games. He left Chicago in hopes Calgary would provide a chance for more playing time. Unfortunately, Johnson still finds himself as a rotational blueliner. It's safe to ignore him in Fantasy.

| It's hard to figure out why Aaron Johnson opted to re-sign with the Blackhawks in the offseason after he had trouble getting regular minutes in 2008-09. But the five-year veteran re-upped for one year in hopes his fortunes will change. When Johnson did take the ice in '08-09, he was extremely productive. Johnson was fifth on the team with a plus-19 rating in just 38 games. He was even or better for his first 31 appearances and 35 times on the season. Johnson also contributed three goals and five assists. The Blackhawks' blue line is still stocked with the likes of Brian Campbell, Brent Seabrook, Cam Barker and Duncan Keith. It could take an injury to those players for Johnson to see extensive time. Johnson remains just a low-end Fantasy reserve for the deepest of formats. (Updated 8/17/09) |
