Fantasy Analysis
This series was effectively over when Carey Price was hurt. Peter Budaj served as a reasonable backup this year, but he's not a guy you want to be forced to roll out come playoff time. (Updated 5/9/13).
05/13/2013 15:48 Eastern Conference Preview: (1) Pittsburgh vs. (7) Ottawa
The Pittsburgh Penguins and Ottawa Senators will meet in the playoffs for the fourth time since 2006. The Penguins are the favorites but must play better than they did in Round 1.
05/09/2013 22:03 Senators knock out Canadiens with 6-1 win in Game 5
Craig Anderson made 33 saves and Cory Conacher scored twice on a shaky Peter Budaj as the Ottawa Senators advanced to the second round of the playoffs Thursday night with a 6-1 rout of the Montreal Canadiens.
Peter Budaj has one year remaining on his contract as Carey Price's backup. The veteran backstop played in just 17 games last season, posting a 5-7-5 record with a goals-against average of 2.55. He's worth remembering as a handcuff to Price in deeper leagues and a spot start in daily leagues provided it's a good matchup. Given Montreal's inability to regularly score, as well as some spotty defending, Budaj is the most reliable of NHL backups to stash away in most leagues. (Updated 8/14/12)
