| Fantasy Analysis |
Emery came out of the gate on fire this season, but then had to undergo abdominal surgery in December. This hip issue may have been contributing to that problem or vice versa, and it's not looking good for Emery's prospects the rest of this season. He did skate for an hour on Monday, but didn't push it. Stay tuned to this developing situation, as we might hear more concrete news about Emery's prognosis later on Tuesday. (Updated 02/09/2010).

| If you didn't believe that goalie Ray Emery would eventually return to the NHL, you were kidding yourself. After spending one year in Russia last season, Emery has returned to the NHL to try his hand as the Flyers' starting goalie. Emery brought on a self-inflicted one-year banishment after he upset many folks during a tumultuous five-year tenure with the Senators. Emery needed to refocus himself and change his attitude, if he ever wanted to come back stateside. Emery did just that in 2008-09 while starting in net for Atlant Mytischi of the Kontinential Hockey League (Russia). Emery compiled a 22-8-0 record with a 2.12 goals-against average and .926 save percentage in 36 games. His performance was good enough for Philadelphia to sign him to a one-year contract in the offseason and have him try to replace Martin Biron in net. Brian Boucher was added as insurance in case Emery can't handle the everyday rigors. Emery has a record of 71-40-14 with a 2.71 GAA in his five seasons with Ottawa. He had 33 wins in 58 games in 2006-07, so he clearly has the stuff to be a starting NHL goalie. Emery will start the season as a No. 2 Fantasy goalie. View the Flyers TG as a No. 2 option as well.
