Fantasy Analysis
With 17 points on the year, Tim Gleason is pretty much having his typical season, though he does have a chance to pass his career high of 21 set back in '05-'06. Gleason inked a long-term extension well before the trade deadline to ensure he would remain in Raleigh. Gleason is not a bad option in deep leagues, as he's a decent source of penalty minutes who won't hurt your plus-minus. (Updated 03/06/2012).
05/21/2012 14:28 Carolina Hurricanes re-sign defenseman Jamie McBain for two seasons
The 'Canes announced on Monday that they have re-signed restricted free agent Jamie McBain to a two-year extension. The deal will pay $1.7 million in 2012-13 and then $1.9 million in the second season of the deal, for a cap hit of $1.8 million.
Gleason is a character player who likes to work in his own zone and disrupt the flow of the opposition. He blocked a team-high 141 shots in 2010-11, and collected 85 penalty minutes to boot. All of this makes Gleason an invaluable cog on Carolinas blue line, but limited upside handling the puck leaves him out of the spotlight as it pertains to fantasy hockey. (Updated 10/4/11)
