"He is idle right now," interim coach Todd Richards said on Monday. "That's doctor's orders. He was given an injection and he was told to lay low. Not a lot has changed with him." This news should surprise absolutely no one, given Kristian Huselius's extensive injury history, and if you still had him stashed on your bench, you can safely cut him loose. (Updated 02/07/2012).
01/06/2012 19:32 Blue Jackets place LW Huselius on injured reserve
The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed left wing Kristian Huselius on injured reserve retroactive to Dec. 6, when he suffered a lower body injury at Montreal.
The aging winger is becoming increasingly injury-prone, playing in just 39 games last season due to a hip injury and then tearing a chest muscle this offseason while rehabbing from the hip surgery. The pectoral tear could keep him off the ice until January. He's been a decent fit in Columbus as a pass-first compliment to Rick Nash on the top line, but his days as a Blue Jacket could be numbered if he can't stay healthy. (Updated 8/16/11)
