| Fantasy Analysis |
Bryzgalov is finally getting back on track after struggling for most of January. He has allowed more than two goals just once in his last five starts. We expect Bryzgalov should do a lot of good things for the playoff-contending Coyotes, so keep him active in Fantasy. The same goes for the Coyotes TG. (Updated 02/09/2010).

| Ilya Bryzgalov got off to a promising start for the Coyotes in 2008-09, as he won the first two games of the season and stopped 61 of 64 shots in the process. Too bad Bryzgalov's luck didn't last. There weren't many more bright spots for the Russian goalie after his opening winning streak. He immediately went on a three-game losing streak and allowed 14 goals in that span. Bryzgalov finished the season 26-31-6 with a 2.98 GAA, .906 save percentage and three shutouts in 65 appearances. While his numbers were a bit similar to that of his 2007-08 season, Bryzgalov was donned a savior that year after being picked up off waivers from Anaheim. He had helped Phoenix get into the playoff chase and was expected to keep them there in '08-09. It wasn't entirely his fault as Phoenix was crippled defensively all season after losing defensemen Keith Ballard and Nick Boynton in an offseason trade with Florida. Even with the coaching change to Dave Tippett, Phoenix is expected to lean on Bryzgalov heavily again in 2009-10. His primary backup is Jason LaBarbera, so it's not like an intimidating presence is breathing down Bryzgalov's neck. Phoenix has made some defensive improvements -- adding Jim Vandermeer and Adrian Aucoin -- but Bryzgalov is still more of a No. 2 Fantasy goalie Draft Day. The Coyotes TG is also at best a No. 2 option. (Updated 9/25/09) |
