It's expected that he will be signing elsewhere as Joey MacDonald ascended into the backup role behind Jimmy Howard last season, and the Wings may be looking for an upgrade if they spend on another goaltending option rather than simple depth. Ty Conklin went 5-6-1 in 15 games while carrying an .884 save percentage and 3.28 GAA last season.
