Bouchard still undergoing testing: The Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports that Wild RW Pierre-Marc Bouchard (concussion) recently returned from two weeks of testing in Montreal. "My neck feels way better, and I do feel a little better overall," Bouchard said. "I'm not 100 percent yet, but I see little improvements. I take everything positive. But it's a question of time for the pressure to get away and all the little things that are bugging me to leave. Time will do everything." (Updated 02/08/2010).

| It's amazing how the difference a year can make. The Wild seemed happy in July 2008 to lock up forward Pierre-Marc Bouchard to a five-year contract. He was coming off a season in which he recorded a career-high 50 assists and 63 points. He totaled 57 or more points for three straight seasons and was rapidly climbing the Wild team record books. Fast forward to a year later and Minnesota was actively shopping Bouchard after one down season. Bouchard struggled out of the gate with just eight points (three goals) in his first 19 games and 16 points (seven goals0 in his first 33 games. He caught fire in January with a season-high 14 points in 13 games and finished the year with 30 points over his final 38 games. Bouchard missed the last eight games of the season with a concussion and it just compounded the problems he had in '08-09. But his late-season run is still promising as we head into 2009-10. The only issue is that Minnesota could still actively try to trade him. If Bouchard sticks around he should benefit from the coaching of Todd Richards, who wants to bring an up-tempo offense to Minnesota. Bouchard should be on your list of bounce-back candidates, but he still has to be considered a low-end Fantasy forward Draft Day. (Updated 8/17/09) |
