Bouwmeester records 2 assists: Calgary D Jay Bouwmeester recorded two assists and some penalty minutes on Saturday in a 6-1 win over Edmonton. He picked up two minutes in the second period due to hooking and secured another hooking penalty for two minutes in the third.

Bouwmeester now has 38 penalty minutes on the season to go with his 20 points. The two points he recorded on Saturday were only his second game in January with any points at all and were his first multi-point game since Nov. 21 at Los Angeles. He's been mired in a slump and has lost some Fantasy appeal but hopefully Saturday's two-point game means a turnaround is coming.

| Yearning for the chance to return to his native Canada, Jay Bouwmeester finally got his wish by signing a multi-year deal with the Flames in the offseason. The unrestricted free agent actually had his negotiating rights traded by Florida to Calgary, but the Flames didn't let the Edmonton native test the free-agent waters. They are now eager to put him on a blue line with the likes of Dion Phaneuf, Robyn Regehr and Cory Sarich. Bouwmeester has managed 15 goals in each of the last two seasons and has 40-plus points in three of the last four years. The 2002 first-round pick (3rd overall) led the NHL in 2008-09 with an average ice time of 27:28. He has really developed into one of the premier two-way defenseman in the NHL and should be drafted in all Fantasy formats. He is no worse than a No. 3 Fantasy defenseman in standard formats.
