Fantasy Analysis
Though Erik Christensen, who started the 2011-2012 campaign with the Rangers, was no doubt instrumental in delivering Minnesota the victory Saturday night, do not expect a repeat performance anytime soon; the veteran forward has not yet reached the level of a reliable fantasy option, despite responding well to the mid-season change of scenery. Erik Christensen's power-play goal late in the second period gave Josh Harding and the Minnesota Wild a long-sought win, 2-0 over the suddenly sputtering Vancouver Canucks on Monday.
03/17/2012 17:07 Brent, Sutter goals lead to 'Canes win
Tim Brent and Brandon Sutter scored in a 48-second span of the third period Saturday and the Carolina Hurricanes rallied past the Minnesota Wild 5-3.
03/11/2012 22:07 Flames get big win in playoff race
Jarome Iginla scored early and set up Curtis Glencross' go-ahead goal late with a botched shot that became a pass, and the Calgary Flames hung on to beat the Minnesota Wild 4-3 on Sunday for their third straight victory.
There's never been a question of Christensen's talent, but he simply hasn't been a consistent producer throughout his six-year career. Rangers coach John Tortorella has complained endlessly about it, and would bench him even when the roster was much thinner two seasons ago. Assuming he can change his enigmatic ways, a 30-point campaign can be had by Christensen in 2011-12. (Updated 10/4/11)
