Hawks' fourth line starting to click: The Sports Xchange reports the Blackhawks had high expectations for Tomas Kopecky and fourth-line mates Ben Eager and Colin Fraser, and they went unfulfilled for much of this season. The three, though, combined for the decisive goal at Calgary on Thursday and have accumulated 23 points and a plus-15 rating in the last 15 games before going up against the Canucks. "That whole line has been getting better and better and better," coach Joel Quenneville said. "Now they're scoring key goals and the consistency we were hoping for them is in place." | Fantasy Analysis |
No matter how well a fourth line is beginning to play, it is still usually one of the least-used lines in hockey. It's great for Chicago that it is getting quality production from Kopecky, Eager and Fraser. Still, all three of those guys have marginal Fantasy appeal. Eager is also a flier in leagues that reward heavily for PIM. (Updated 01/24/2010).

| Not all first-round draft picks are taken for their elite offensive skills. No, in the case of Ben Eager the Coyotes knew what they were getting when they drafted him with the 23rd pick in 2002 -- a gritty checking-line forward. Eager has lived up to his reputation as an enforcer with 501 penalty minutes in 195 career games. He was Chicago's top tough guy in 2008-09 as he led the team with 161 penalty minutes, 13 major infractions (all fights), 33 minor penalties and three game misconducts. Eager averaged 2.1 penalty minutes per game over 75 contests. He also showed some intensity on offense with a career-high 11 goals and 15 points. For his all-around effort the Blackhawks brought Eager back with a one-year contract. Eager is best used in leagues that reward heavily for PIM. (Updated 8/17/09) |
