Laich Banged Up In Caps' Closing Loss: Brooks Laich took one puck off an ankle and another one to the face in the second period of Saturday's Game 7 loss to the Rangers. Both shots caused him visible pain, but he didn't miss a shift in the contest, during which he registered an assist, his seventh point in 14 postseason contests. (Updated 05/12/2012)

Fantasy Analysis
What do you expect? He's a hockey player, not an actuary. He'll now have four months to get healthy before training camp opens in September. To put it mildly, he features prominently in Washington's long-term plans. (Updated 05/12/2012).
05/05/2012 15:13 Caps rebound, tie series vs. Rangers
Defenseman Mike Green's power-play goal with 5:48 left in regulation Saturday lifted the Washington Capitals to a 3-2 victory over the top-seeded New York Rangers, tying their Eastern Conference semifinal series at two games apiece.
Laich tested free agency this summer, but eventually decided on returning to Washington. With a lack of centermen, Laich may be asked to center the second line. For fantasy owners, he will be a very hot commodity, especially with the possibility of Alexander Semin and Troy Brouwer on either side. Since becoming a mainstay in D.C., Laich has steadily improved every season. He had his best year in 2009-10, but still produced right under 50 points last season. Look for him to take advantage of his new role this season if that is what is asked of him and get back into the area of 60 points. He will also be asked to play a good deal on the man advantage. Do not hesitate to grab him on draft day if the price is right. (Updated 10/4/11)
