Lapierre ends 22-game drought: The Sports Xchange reports that Canadiens C Maxim Lapierre scored a goal in Saturday's rout of the Rangers to end a 22-game point drought. Lapierre's last point was an assist against Philadelphia on Dec. 7. His last goal was against Columbus on Nov. 24.

Lapierre had a career-best 28 points last season, but he has yet to reach double digits in 2009-10. Continue to ignore him in the majority of Fantasy formats.

| It was only fitting that when the Canadiens won their 3,000th regular-season game Dec. 29 against the Panthers that one of their players also had a career milestone, as Maxim Lapierre recorded his first career hat trick in the historic win. It was one of the highlights of Lapierre's 2008-09 season. The 24-year-old forward set career highs in games played (79), goals (15), assists (13), points (28), plus-minus (9), short-handed goals (2) and penalty minutes (76) last season. He also finished fourth on the team with 130 hits. Lapierre had four goals, eight points and a plus-8 rating in his final 19 games. He did all that while playing through ankle pain for most of the season. Lapierre had offseason surgery to help alleviate the problem and is expected to be ready for the start of the 2009-10 season. He has established himself as a solid lower-line presence for the Habs, but he has minimal Fantasy appeal Draft Day. Lapierre is worth a look in leagues that reward heavily for short-handed stats.
