Fantasy Analysis
He was cleared to skate on his own late last week but felt lingering effects. He last skated on Sunday and things really don't sound great. "He's been pulled back and he has some symptoms," said Bruins' coach Claude Julien. "He's back to square one and we're giving him some time. Those symptoms, once he got on the ice, came back." The Bruins have 30 games left on their schedule and are comfortably in a top-three spot in the Eastern standings. They may choose to be ultra-cautious with Nathan Horton and keep him off the ice for a significant part of those 30 games. (Updated 02/10/2012).
01/19/2012 21:41 Bruins explode in third, defeat Devils
Nathan Horton and Gregory Campbell scored in a 35-second span in a four-goal third period that carried the Boston Bruins to a 4-1 victory over the New Jersey Devils on Thursday.
01/17/2012 22:35 Lightning break late tie to win
Dominic Moore scored a tiebreaking goal with 3:45 remaining in the third period and the Tampa Bay Lightning beat the Boston Bruins 5-3 on Tuesday night.
Horton, whose postseason was cut short by a nasty concussion, was also dealing with a shoulder injury throughout the playoffs. He's expected back at full strength next season and is slated to once again skate on the B's top line. While his 26 goals and 53 points in 80 games weren't eye-popping, he was one of the Bruins' most dangerous forwards all season long, while also recording a plus-29 rating. Horton has a terrific blend of size and skill and whatever character drive/questions he had previously attached to him as a Panther seem to have evaporated. A 30-goal season while being a key member of a balanced attack in Boston seems to be a reasonable expectation for Horton in 2011-12, assuming he's past the head injury. (Updated 10/4/11)
