Hawks' Keith Ends Dry Spell
Keith registered an assist and five shots on goal en route to drawing a plus-3 rating in Tuesday's win over the Coyotes. So ends the longest scoring drought of the season for the blueliner, who had gone the previous six games without a point. With 27 points in 45 games, Keith doesn't seem likely to defend his Norris Trophy-winning campaign of a year ago, but he's still productive enough to warrant an active spot in any fantasy lineup.
|If there were people who did not consider Duncan Keith the best defenseman in NHL before last season, there are very few if any now after a 2013-14 performance that handed Keith his second Norris trophy. His 55 assists in 79 games last season equaled his total in 2009-10, which was ironically his first Norris Trophy season. He can contribute a little -- no, a lot -- of everything on the blue line, including blocks. We're glad to see his block numbers starting to decline, though. Something as valuable as Keith shouldn't be stepping into 95 mph slappers. Take him off the board as one of the first defenders chosen. (Updated 8/13/14) |
