Knee - Out for Feb. 9 at St. Louis (Updated - 2/8/10)
|
| Fantasy Analysis |
Kronwall said he wont play because hes waiting for a better-fitting brace to arrive, so there's a good chance he could see action in Detroit's second and third games of Fantasy Week 19 (Feb. 8-14), which come on Thursday and Saturday. He's clearly a risky start for the scoring period, but is probably worth using in 12-team or larger formats. (Updated 02/08/2010).

News & Views: Wings get reinforcement for prime time
The dynastic Red Wings have been battling all season to stay afloat. But now their injured are healthy and they look ready to roll, Wes Goldstein says in News & Views.
|
| The Red Wings coaching staff had their issues with defenseman Niklas Kronwall in 2008-09 when the five-year veteran was at minus-5 through January. They were upset he was heading in the wrong direction and feared the Swedish defender's confidence would plummet. They then paired Kronwall with legendary defenseman Nicklas Lidstrom, and it seemed to help solve Kronwall's woes. He finished the season with four goals, 25 points and a plus-7 rating over his final 33 games. Kronwall had a career-high 45 assists and 51 points. He also managed to finish above even for the fifth straight season. Kronwall led Detroit with 109 blocked shots and was fifth with 96 hits. He is one of the most complete defensemen on Detroit's blue line. Kronwall will still be playing with the likes of Lidstrom and Brian Rafalski in 2009-10, so the 28-year-old defenseman can continue to learn from some NHL greats. Consider him more of a No. 2 or No. 3 Fantasy defenseman. (Updated 8/17/09) |
