Fantasy Analysis
Points had been hard to come by lately for the powerful defender -- he had been held off the board in the previous seven games. But he already has 10 goals, just one off his career high from last year. And he's accomplished it in just 46 games. His upside is high and his production should take a leap once Niklas Lidstrom retires. He's a solid, long-term keeper. (Updated 01/21/2012).
02/06/2012 09:31 Blue Line Buzz: Gagner too good to be true
Edmonton's Sam Gagner had a torrid Week 17 in Fantasy Hockey, but Dan Pennucci says it's simply an unsustainable pace for the talented but inconsistent Oiler in this week's Blue Line Buzz.
02/05/2012 01:29 Oilers' Gagner continues points rampage in SO win over Red Wings
Sam Gagner continued to rack up the points and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored the shootout winner as the Edmonton Oilers beat the league-leading Detroit Red Wings 5-4 on Saturday night.
01/25/2012 22:07 Habs rout Red Wings, score seven times
David Desharnais had two goals and an assist, and the Montreal Canadiens ended Detroit's seven-game winning streak with a 7-2 victory over the Red Wings on Wednesday.
01/23/2012 22:20 Red Wings win 17th straight at home
Pavel Datsyuk and Johan Franzen scored in the second period, and the Detroit Red Wings beat the St. Louis Blues 3-1 on Monday night for their 17th straight home win -- the NHL's longest single-season streak in 36 years.
Kronwall fired a career-high 131 shots on goal last season and lit the lamp 11 times in the process. He's never finished an NHL season with a negative plus/minus, and considering that he piles up hits and blocked shots, Kronwall has added value in formats that reward those categories as well. With the retirement of Brian Rafalski, Kronwall could see an uptick in power-play time, which would also bring more chances to shoot. While 13 of Kronwall's 37 points last season came with the man advantage, an increase there should lead to better overall production. (Updated 10/4/11)
