Jed Ortmeyer's first goal of the season gave the Minnesota Wild the lead with 4:13 left in a 4-3 victory on Sunday, sending the San Jose Sharks home with a tough loss to finish 2-6-1 on a season-long nine-game road trip.
Ortmeyer is a role player who has frequently split time between the NHL and the minor leagues in his career. In 2010-11, he collected just eight goals and 11 assists in 60 games between AHL San Antonio, and more recently, the Houston Aeros. Ortmeyer also made four spot starts with the Wild last season, and will remain a depth option after signing a one-year contract with the Minnesota in July of 2011. (Updated 8/16/11)
