05/15/2013 22:48 Blackhawks beat Red Wings with balance, solid play in goal
Johnny Oduya and Marcus Kruger scored in the third period, Corey Crawford made 20 saves and the Chicago Blackhawks beat the Detroit Red Wings 4-1 in the opener of their second-round playoff series Wednesday night.
Brent Seabrook's offensive numbers might have been down last season, but overall, he played very well (plus-21) considering the overall struggles of the Blackhawks defense. In addition, he led the Hawks in blocked shots with 165 and was one of the top NHL players in that category. And he was also in top 10 in the league in hits with 198. He's a big, two-way defender who will give you 35 points, 200 hits and 150 blocked shots in any given year. Bump up the points if he gets more power-play opportunities. (Updated 8/14/12)
