05/14/2013 13:48 Caps' Ovechkin Goes Cold
Ovechkin was nowhere to be seen on the score sheet of a 5-0 Game 7 loss to the Rangers in Washington on Monday night.Ovechkin failed to appear on the score sheet for the fifth straight game of the postseason. He chose an awful time to cool down and the Caps paid the price, as their season is done. Ovi was nominated for several awards due to a hot March and April, but the postseason will leave a bitter taste in his mouth.
05/13/2013 22:47 Lundqvist, Rangers blank Caps again to win Game 7
Led by Henrik Lundqvist's 35 saves in a second consecutive shutout, and goals from some unlikely sources, the New York Rangers beat the Washington Capitals 5-0 in Game 7 Monday night to reach the Eastern Conference semifinals.
Alex Ovechkin has consistently been one of the top names in fantasy drafts the last several years. There is doubt on whether he should be this year. The talent is certainly there, but opposing teams are getting smarter as to how to defend Ovechkin. Ovis goal numbers have been down the last two years, hanging around the upper 30s the last two years from the low 50s in years prior. He has also dropped 20 points from his totals in each of the last two years, notching 109 three years ago, 85 in 2010-2011, and 65 last year. Now, his 38 goals in 2011-2012 were good for fifth in the league, and he is still just 27, but question remains on whether he is an easy top-five choice this year; regardless, he shouldn't fall too far come draft day.
