Fantasy Analysis
Test results showed no structural damage to the neck which was a relief, but with the Oilers not heading to the playoffs, there was no reason to put the defenseman at risk. (Updated 04/07/2012).
03/22/2012 22:24 Lightning 3, Oilers 2 (SO)
Teddy Purcell scored in the sixth round of a shootout and the Tampa Bay Lightning beat the Edmonton Oilers 3-2 on Thursday night.
Smid is the definition of a stay at home defenseman with only one goal in the last four seasons (254 games). His value is in his own end, where he tries to keep opposing team from scoring. He can be tough in front of his own net but is not someone that will spend an inordinate amount of time in the Sin Bin. (Updated 8/16/11)
