Barker mentioned in trade rumors: The Orange County Register reports the Blackhawks are interested in bringing back defenseman James Wisniewski. A team source told the Register that the Blackhawks have called the Ducks about reacquiring Wisniewski, who was traded to Anaheim with center Petri Kontola in a trade deadline deal last year for Samuel Pahlsson, defenseman Logan Stephenson and a fourth-round pick in the 2009 draft. Chicago defenseman Cam Barker's name has been mentioned as the player who could be dealt for Wisniewski. (Updated 02/07/2010).

| Fantasy Analysis |
The Blackhawks have some cap issues to deal with down the road, so getting rid of a promising player like Barker is not ideal but might have to happen. Barker has no points in nine straight games and just 14 points on the season. It has been a very disappointing campaign after Barker had a breakout season in 2008-09. He could benefit from a fresh start. (Updated 02/07/2010).

| The Blackhawks waited. And waited. And waited some more until finally Cam Barker lived up to his potential in 2008-09. Chicago selected Barker with the third pick in the 2004 draft but his rise to the NHL was very slow. He was entering the final season of his entry-level contract last season and it seemed as though it was make or break. Luckily for the Blackhawks, first-year coach Joel Quenneville was able to bring the best out of Barker. The blueliner ranked third among team defensemen with 34 assists and 40 points, both career highs. Barker did his best work on the power play. He finished sixth among all NHL blueliners with 29 power-play points (24 assists). Barker got hot down the stretch for Chicago as they made a push to the Western Conference finals. He had 20 points (three goals) in his final 33 regular-season games and nine points (three goals) in 17 postseason games. Chicago was so pleased with Barker's progression that they re-signed him for three years. Barker still takes a backseat to the likes of Brian Campbell, Brent Seabrook and Duncan Keith, but he is one of the team's top puck-moving defensemen and remains a decent No. 4 or No. 5 Fantasy option.
