Mike Smith stopped 54 shots and earned his third straight shutout in the Phoenix Coyotes' 2-0 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday night.
03/31/2012 23:50 Coyotes tied for lead with Kings in Pacific
Mike Smith had 44 saves in his second straight shutout and Ray Whitney passed 1,000 career points with a goal and assist in the Phoenix Coyotes' 4-0 rout of the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday night.
Brule was originally dealt to Los Angeles in the Ryan Smyth deal, but the Kings had reservations about his past concussions and nixed the deal, sending Brule back to Edmonton. Brule has never reached the offensive potential that was expected of him. Most blame Columbus for rushing him into the NHL too soon as he has never been able to overcome a slow start. Brule will fight in training camp for a spot on the third or fourth line. (Updated 10/4/11)
