Fantasy Analysis
It's just his second goal in his last 36 games -- injuries had plagued him this season -- but it couldn't have come at a more opportune time. He blew it through Rangers netminder Henrik Lundqvist, something that few have been able to do this season. He may not return to his lofty offensive heights given the Caps' defensive focus, but a return to the list of top-10 fantasy defenders should be easy next season ... if he's healthy. 05/09/2012 22:19 Capitals bounce back, force Game 7
Alex Ovechkin rebounded from a rare zero-shot performance by scoring after 88 seconds Wednesday night, Braden Holtby made 30 saves, and the Washington Capitals recovered from a potentially devastating loss by beating the top-seeded New York Rangers 2-1 to force a Game 7 in the Eastern Conference semifinal.
05/05/2012 15:13 Caps rebound, tie series vs. Rangers
Defenseman Mike Green's power-play goal with 5:48 left in regulation Saturday lifted the Washington Capitals to a 3-2 victory over the top-seeded New York Rangers, tying their Eastern Conference semifinal series at two games apiece.
Green went through a very frustrating season last campaign as he battled through multiple injuries, including a head injury. Considered one of the top defensemen in fantasy leagues, he did not live up to expectations last year. With the emergence of John Carlson, Green may not put up the daunting numbers he did when posting over 70 points, but even with the slight downgrade should still be valued as a top pick on defense.
