J. Jokinen continues encouraging start: Hurricanes LW Jussi Jokinen scored his third goal of the season Wednesday in a loss to the Islanders. Jokinen had just seven goals all of 2008-09.

Jokinen saw very little power play time last season after coming to Carolina from Tampa Bay in early February via waivers, but is featuring nicely with the extra man already this season. He has the potential to be a very nice sleeper option in deeper leagues.

| Jokinen had been mired in Fantasy irrelevance for nearly all of the 2008-09 season before he was shipped out by Tampa Bay to the Hurricanes. He became known for scoring at crucial times late in games, including a deflection past Martin Brodeur in Game 4 of the first round with only 0.2 seconds remaining in the game. Jokinen put up career lows in points (27), goals (7) and assists (20) last season but the move to Carolina might once again make him a threat to tally 50 points. He is at best just a low-end Fantasy flier on Draft Day. (Updated 8/18/09) |
