Sabres' Kaleta Out 4-6 Weeks
Kaleta, who is slated to undergo minor surgery, is expected to miss 4-6 weeks, NHL.com reports. While it's unclear what sort of injury Kaleta is dealing with, he's in line to miss a decent chunk of time, in any case. The winger's fantasy impact this season has been modest, however, with Kaleta having notched just three assists (to go along with 32 PIM) in 33 games this season.
Sabres' Kaleta Unavailable Sunday
Kaleta will not play Sunday against Philadelphia, reports the Olean Times Herald.Kaleta will be sidelined for "a little while," according to head coach Ted Nolan. With Kaleta's injury, the Sabres have called up Johan Larsson from AHL Rochester, who will likely play on the team's bottom two lines. Kaleta's agitating and physical style will certainly be missed as Cody Hodgson returns to the lineup after a two-game absence. Kaleta's return date is to be determined.
Sabres' Kaleta Misses Sunday's Morning Skate
Kaleta was not on the ice for Sunday's morning skate for an undisclosed reason.Kaleta should be considered a game-time decision for Sunday's contest against the Flyers, although his absence for the morning practice certainly doesn't bode well for his potential availability Sunday night. If he's ultimately unable to play, the 28-year-old should be considered day-to-day ahead of Tuesday's game against the Devils.

Senators slip past Sabres 2-1
BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) Milan Michalek scored at 12:15 of the third period and Robin Lehner made 35 saves and the Ottawa Senators beat the Buffalo Sabres 2-1 on Tuesday night.
|Patrick Kaleta was demoted to the AHL early in the season after a series of suspensions and a knack for dangerous play necessitated his temporary leave from the NHL. He was in the midst of cleaning up his act with four points in seven games with Rochester when an ACL injury ended his season. Kaleta is entering the final year of his contract and his future is still in doubt. The Sabres attempted to trade him prior to his demotion but to no avail, and if the club believes that his playing style hasn’t changed, it could spell the end of the Buffalo native’s time with his hometown Sabres. Though he has shown he can score goals in the past, Kaleta is still most effective as a checking player. (Updated 8/13/14) |
