Fantasy Analysis
The injury stems all the way back to the 2011 Stanley Cup Finals, when Alexander Edler broke two fingers on his right hand. He has continued to have problems with the fingers ever since and will visit a doctor Wednesday to determine his course of action. Edler claimed the injury didn't affect his play this year, and he has plenty of time to heal, so this shouldn't be an issue when the puck drops for the 2012-13 season. (Updated 04/24/2012).

04/09/2012 16:32 Playoff Special: Postseason power play projections
The NHL is transitioning into postseason mode and if your Fantasy league is headed in that direction, Mark McLarney says you need to watch those power plays.
Edler, a 25-year-old Swede, was well on his way to a career-best campaign and cementing himself as one of the top up-and-coming defensemen in the league before a back injury sidelined him for over two months. Despite the lengthy stint on the shelf, Edler still managed to finish the season with solid production from the back end, totaling 33 points (8 G, 25 A) and a plus-13 rating in 55 games. Hell once again see plenty of time with the Canucks top offensive lines, while also quarterbacking the power play. Edlers injury last season will likely lower his price on draft day, but you would be wise to grab him before he puts everything together and fully breaks out.
