Fantasy Analysis
He also made an outstanding play to keep the game at just 2-1 with the Orcas' net empty and then jumped into the play to tie the game and force OT. Kevin Bieksa has 28 points in 52 games and is on track to match his career-best 43 points of 2008-09. Take advantage. (Updated 02/04/2012).
02/04/2012 18:07 Canucks best Avalanche in shootout
Kevin Bieksa tied the game with 34.1 seconds remaining in regulation and Mason Raymond scored the lone goal in the shootout as the Vancouver Canucks rallied for a 3-2 win over the struggling Colorado Avalanche on Saturday.
02/01/2012 01:14 Canucks edge Blackhawks in overtime
Daniel Sedin scored at 3:37 of overtime to lift the Vancouver Canucks to a 3-2 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday.
Bieksa managed just 22 points (6 G, 16 A) in 2011-12, but salvaged fantasy value by posting a career-best plus-32 rating, while also racking up 73 penalty minutes. Previously considered an offensive-minded defenseman, Bieksa improved his two-way play last season, which resulted in the Canucks rewarding him with a five-year, $23-million deal this summer. As his 66 games played last season indicates, though, Bieksa remains an injury risk. The 30-year-old blueliner will be asked to pick up some of the offensive production left vacant by Christian Erhoff leaving town, so if he can stay healthy, Bieksa will have ample opportunities to rack up points on the CanucksÂ’ top defensive pairing.
