Blues' Stastny Pots Goal In Victory

News: Paul Stastny found the net for the third time this season in Sunday's 4-2 win over the Jets.
Analysis: Paul Stastny's empty-netter in the game's final minute was largely inconsequential, but at least gave the center an opportunity to give something back to fantasy owners after providing precious little to date. Though Stastny was the Blues' most high-profile offseason acquisition at center, discount pickup Jori Lehtera has been the far better performer for the Blues, making minutes a little scarcer than anticipated for Stastny. The 28-year-old is averaging two and a half minutes fewer ice time with the Blues than he enjoyed with the Avs a season ago, producing six points and a minus-5 rating over 13 games.

Blues' Stastny Scores Game-Winner

News: Paul Stastny potted the game-winning goal in Thursday's 4-3 overtime victory over the Predators.
Analysis: The goal came on Paul Stastny's lone shot of the game and marked his first point since returning from injured reserve three games earlier. The struggling Stastny saw just 11:57 of action with the Blues having all their forwards at full health, but look for his ice time to rise once he becomes further removed from the upper-body injury.

Blues' Stastny Held Pointless In Third Straight

News: Paul Stastny was held without a point in 18:17 of ice time Tuesday in a 6-1 win over Buffalo. He failed to register a shot and only won 38% of his face offs in the contest.
Analysis: Paul Stastny has now gone three straight games without a point since his return from an upper body injury. While he is back up to a regular shift he is clearly not up to speed. Patience will be required with the Blues' center as he works his way back following a two week absence.

Blues Activate Stastny From IR

News: Paul Stastny (upper body) was activated from injured reserve Thursday, NHL.com's Lou Korac reports.
Analysis: With Paul Stastny officially reinstated to the Blues' 23-man roster, he'll be cleared to return to the lineup Thursday for his first game since Oct. 18. Stastny had a goal and three assists over four games prior to suffering the injury.

Blues' Stastny Confirms He'll Play Thursday

News: Paul Stastny (upper body) confirmed after the Blues' morning skate that he would play Thursday against the Devils, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: The Blues will still need to officially activate Paul Stastny from injured reserve, but that's just a mere formality at this point. Stastny was a full participant in morning skate and doesn't look like he'll face any limitations in his return from a nearly three-week absence. He's expected to center the Blues' second line, joined by Alexander Steen and Joakim Lindstrom.

Blues' Stastny Likely Returning Thursday

News: Paul Stastny (upper body) will likely play in Thursday's game against the Devils, Lou Korac of NHL.com reports.
Analysis: Paul Stastny skated on a regular line and got in power play work during Thursday's morning skate, which are both indications he will return to action Thursday. Expect an update on Stastny's status when the Blues make an official decision on his availability for Thursday night.

Blue Stastny Out Tuesday, But Should Play Soon

News: Paul Stastny (upper body) will not play Tuesday against the Devils, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: While Paul Stastny will miss another game Tuesday, he was able to take part in Tuesday's morning skate, and head coach Ken Hitchcock said "(Stastny) is within days" of returning action. That would indicate a likely return either Thursday against the same Devils squad the Blue will play Tuesday, or Saturday against the Predators.

Blues' Stastny Still Three Or Four Games Away

News: Paul Stastny (upper body) was a full participant at Monday's morning skate.
Analysis: Paul Stastny is travelling with the team on their current road trip, but it sounds like he'll probably wait until the weekend to return to the lineup.

Stastny Will Travel With Blues On Road Trip

News: Blues coach Ken Hitchcock said Saturday that Paul Stastny (upper body) will travel with the team on its upcoming road trip, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch's Jeremy Rutherford reports.
Analysis: A report earlier in the day indicated Paul Stastny was still a week away from returning, but his presence on the road trip seems to contradict that information. The Blues hit the road for a back-to-back on Monday and Tuesday, so it would appear that he has at least a chance of playing in one or both of those games.

Blues' Stastny Could Miss Another Week

News: Paul Stastny (upper body) is still a week away from returning, Mike Chambers of the Denver Post reports.
Analysis: The center got off to a hot start with his new team, racking up a goal and three assists through his first four games, but he hasn't been in the lineup since Oct. 18. He'll continue to watch from the press box for another week or so, but it's worth keeping an eye on his rehab progress.

Blues' Stastny (Upper Body) Out Saturday

News: Paul Stastny (upper body) will miss Saturday's game, NHL.com's Lou Korac reports.
Analysis: Paul Stastny suffered the injury Oct. 18 against the Coyotes and hasn't returned to action since. He appeared to be on track for Thursday's contest, but was ruled out in a game-time decision and now will miss Saturday as well.

Blues' Stastny Remains Out Thursday

News: Coach Ken Hitchcock said that Paul Stastny (upper body) will not play Thursday against the Ducks, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: Paul Stastny looked poised to make his return from injured reserve after taking part in the team's morning skate, but it appears he was just a placeholder for T.J. Oshie, who was diagnosed with a concussion and unable to take the ice. On a more encouraging note, Stastny does seem to be very close to a return based on his on-ice participation the last several days, so he could return for Saturday's game against Colorado.

Blues' Stastny Looks Poised For Return

News: Paul Stastny (upper body) was on the ice for Thursday's morning skate and appears on track to play against the Ducks, Lou Korac of NHL.com reports.
Analysis: Paul Stastny skated as the second-line right wing, suggesting the Blues plan on having him available later in the evening. He hasn't been officially activated from injured reserve just yet, but an announcement could come in the hours leading up to the game. Stastny's return to the lineup would be a boon for the Blues regardless of the circumstances, but it would be an especially welcome development after both T.J. Oshie and David Backes were diagnosed with concussions and ruled out indefinitely earlier in the day.

Blues' Stastny Not Being Ruled Out For Thursday

News: Coach Ken Hitchcock said Paul Stastny (upper body) is not being ruled out for Thursday's game against the Ducks, NHL.com's Lou Korac reports.
Analysis: Paul Stastny was on the ice at Wednesday's optional session for a third straight day, but it doesn't sound like he's resumed taking much contact, making it more likely than not that he sits out Thursday. Still, the feeling from the Blues is that Stastny is making progress and is close to a return. Keep stashing him on your bench until he's given the green light to return.

Blues' Stastny Skates Again Tuesday

News: Paul Stastny (upper body) skated Tuesday morning, Chris Pinkert of NHL.com reports.
Analysis: It was the second straight day on the ice for Paul Stastny, who is still awaiting clearance to participate in full practice with his teammate. Coach Ken Hitchcock indicated Monday that he's hopeful Stastny will be able to do that by the end of the week, but at this juncture, a return shouldn't be considered imminent.

Blues' Stastny Not Taking Contact Yet

News: Paul Stastny (upper body) practiced with teammates Monday, but was not taking contact and didn't take part in all drills, according to Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Analysis: While his return to the ice is a positive sign, Paul Stastny won't get back into a game until he can take contact in practice. His week-to-week status remains unchanged.

Blues' Stastny Skates

News: Paul Stastny (upper body) skated Monday morning, Lou Korac of NHL.com reports.
Analysis: Paul Stastny is eligible to be activated off IR as soon as he's ready, but it's doubtful he'll be healthy enough to suit up for Tuesday's game against the Stars. The Blues signed Stastny as a free agent in the offseason, and the center got off to a nice start in St. Louis before getting injured, racking up a goal and three assists in his first four games.

Blues' Stastny Skating, But Not Doing Much Else

News: Paul Stastny (upper body) has been able to skate the last two days, NHL.com's Lou Korac reports.
Analysis: It seems as though Paul Stastny has returned to the ice strictly for conditioning purposes, as he hasn't attempted shots or taken any contact yet. The Blues remain steadfast in their belief that a lengthy absence isn't in store for Stastny, but it's looking increasingly unlikely that he'll be back before the end of the month.

Blues Move Stastny To IR

News: Paul Stastny (upper body) was placed on injured reserve Friday, NHL.com's Lou Korac reports.
Analysis: Paul Stastny hasn't played since Oct. 18 and wasn't expected to return over the weekend, so the move to injured reserve wouldn't seem to suggest that anything has changed with his week-to-week recovery timetable. Instead, it will simply allow the Blues to recall prospect Dmitrij Jaskin, who will give the team some more depth at forward while Stastny remains unavailable.

Blues' Stastny Week-to-Week With Shoulder Injury

News: Paul Stastny is considered week-to-week due to his shoulder injury, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Paul Stastny's recovery timetable remains somewhat vague, but it appears he will miss more than just a game or two. Following Sunday's game, the Blues play four more games before October comes to a close.

Blues' Stastny (Upper Body) Won't Play Sunday

News: Blues coach Ken Hitchcock said after Saturday's game that Paul Stastny (upper body) will not play Sunday against Anaheim, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch's Jeremy Rutherford reports.
Analysis: The Blues are calling it an upper-body injury, but Paul Stastny was spotted after the game with his left arm in a sling, so it appears that he is dealing with some type of shoulder ailment. After Sunday, the Blues are off for three straight days before returning to action Thursday against the Canucks.

Blues' Stastny Suffers Upper-Body Injury

News: Paul Stastny left Saturday's game against Arizona with an upper-body injury and will not return, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch's Jeremy Rutherford reports.
Analysis: Paul Stastny played just 31 seconds before suffering the injury, the extent of which is not yet known. The Blues have a short turnaround before their next game - Sunday at Anaheim - leaving Stastny's status for that game uncertain.

Blues' Stastny: Three More Points

News: Paul Stastny (quad) set up three goals in St. Louis' 4-1 win over Calgary on Saturday night. Two of the helpers came on the power play.
Analysis: Cha-ching -- that was money well spent. Paul Stastny has four points in his first two games and has clearly found chemistry with the Blues' best offensive talents. Use with confidence.

Blues' Stastny Good To Go For Saturday

News: Paul Stastny, who missed Friday's practice with a quad contusion, will be in the lineup Saturday against the Flames, NHL.com's Lou Korac reports.
Analysis: The Blues indicated Friday that Paul Stastny was held out strictly as a precaution, so the quad ailment doesn't figure to inhibit him much, if at all, during Saturday's contest. He's expected to center the second line, with Alex Steen and Joakim Lindstrom flanking him on the wings.

Blues' Stastny Held Out Of Practice Friday

News: Paul Stastny wasn't present at Friday's practice, NHL.com's Lou Korac reports.
Analysis: It's likely just a maintenance day for Paul Stastny, who was a little beat up after debuting for his hometown team Thursday night. He tallied a goal on three shots over his 17:01 of ice time in the defeat. Expect him to be back on the ice for Saturday's showdown with Calgary.
