Islanders' Clutterbuck To Suit Up Tuesday

News: Cal Clutterbuck (lower body) will play in Tuesday's game against the Lightning, Newsday's Arthur Staple reports.
Analysis: Cal Clutterbuck will return to action after sitting out the Islanders' last game Saturday. He has been quiet during November, failing to record a point and tallying just two PIM in six games.

Isles' Clutterbuck Practices

News: Cal Clutterbuck (lower body) was a full participant in Monday's practice, Arthur Staple of Newsday reports.
Analysis: The gritty winger was a late scratch Saturday after getting banged up Friday, but it sounds like he's a good bet to return to the lineup Tuesday against the Lightning.

Isles' Clutterbuck (Lower Body) Sits Saturday

News: Cal Clutterbuck (lower body) ended up being scratched for Saturday's game against the Lightning.
Analysis: Cal Clutterbuck's presence in the lineup probably wouldn't have made a difference in a game in which the Isles ended up losing by three goals. That being said, Clutterbuck is still a valued member of the team's bottom six, so they will hope to have him back healthy in time for Tuesday's rematch with the Bolts in Long Island.

Isles' Clutterbuck Questionable For Saturday

News: Cal Clutterbuck sustained a lower-body injury in Friday's win over the Panthers and will be a game-time decision for Saturday's contest against the Lightning.
Analysis: The report suggests Cal Clutterbuck "tweaked something" Friday, but the fact that he's being viewed as a game-time decision rather than being ruled outright suggests it's not anything especially serious. There's still a good chance the Islanders will rest Clutterbuck in an attempt to afford him some additional healing time, and if that's the case, look for Cory Conacher to fill his spot in the lineup Saturday.

Isles' Clutterbuck Bags First Goal

News: Cal Clutterbuck collected his first goal of the season in Thursday's win over the Bruins. It went down as the game-winner in the 3-2 victory.
Analysis: Cal Clutterbuck notched four hits defensively during the evening to bring his season total to 21, good for second on the team. The bottom-six forward should remain an asset in that category for the duration of the season, but don't expect him to contribute on the offensive end with much frequency.

Isles' Clutterbuck Finished For Season

News: Coach Jack Capuano said none of the Islanders' injured players -- which includes Cal Clutterbuck (upper body) -- will return this season, reports Newsday's Arthur Staple.
Analysis: Cal Clutterbuck wraps up a miserable campaign with 19 points -- his lowest non-lockout-shortened output since 2008-09 -- and 270 hits, the lowest non-shortened-season total of his career.

Isles' Clutterbuck Out Thursday

News: Cal Clutterbuck (upper body) will not play Thursday against the Canadiens.
Analysis: Cal Clutterbuck left Tuesday's game with the injury and looks like he could miss the final two games of the season with the ailment. If it's the end of the campaign for Clutterbuck, he'll finish with 19 points and a minus-9 rating over 73 games.

Isles' Clutterbuck Leaves Game Early

News: Cal Clutterbuck was forced to leave the game Tuesday after suffering an upper-body injury, according to Newsday's Arthur Staple.
Analysis: There is no immediate word regarding the severity of the injury, but with the Islanders only having two games remaining this season, we may not see Cal Clutterbuck again until training camp.

Goals Mounting For Isles' Clutterbuck

News: Cal Clutterbuck has recorded goals in four of his last six games.
Analysis: Injuries to John Tavares and Michael Grabner may have sunk fantasy squads, but they've opened up more playing time for Cal Clutterbuck, who has regularly seen more than 15 minutes per game since the Olympics. He's further supplemented his value with a plus-4 rating over that period, making him somewhat interesting for roster filler purposes in deeper formats.

Clutterbuck Puts Finishing Touches On Isles Win

News: Cal Clutterbuck capped the Isles' seven-goal third period Monday vs. the Canucks with an empty netter in the final minute.
Analysis: The degree of difficulty on Cal Clutterbuck's goal may not have been very high, but it gives him points in four of his last five games nonetheless. Clutterbuck typically sees less than 14 minutes a night for the Islanders, so it's tough to rely on that sort of production to be maintained.

Isles' Clutterbuck With 11 Points To Date

News: Cal Clutterbuck has seven goals and four assists in 54 games at the Olympic Break.
Analysis: Cal Clutterbuck has always been better known for his physical play than for his offensive prowess, but he has only contributed 32 PIM so far this year. Considering that he also comes with a minus-11 rating, there are likely better options available in most leagues.

Isles' Clutterbuck Back In Action Tuesday

News: Cal Clutterbuck (upper body) skated during pregame line rushes and appears set to reenter the lineup Tuesday against the Predators.
Analysis: He'll be skating on the third line with Pierre-Marc Bouchard and Peter Regin in his return. Cal Clutterbuck missed the last three games due to the injury.

Isles' Clutterbuck Questionable Tuesday

News: Cal Clutterbuck (upper body) is questionable for Tuesday's game against the Predators, Arthur Staple of Newsday reports.
Analysis: Cal Clutterbuck has been out of action for about a week for the Islanders. He appears to be closing in on a return and is a realistic possibility to be back for Tuesday's game.

Isles' Clutterbuck To Sit Again Saturday

News: Cal Clutterbuck (upper body) will not play Saturday vs. the Blue Jackets, Newsday's Arthur Staple reports.
Analysis: Cal Clutterbuck was able to take part in morning skate but ultimately sat out when the Islanders last played Thursday, but it sounds like he's still at less-than-optimal health even a couple of days later. As of now, it seems unlikely that he'll suit up Sunday vs. the Canadiens, with a return next Tuesday a more realistic possibility.

Isles' Clutterbuck Out Thursday

News: Cal Clutterbuck (upper body) will not play Thursday against the Hurricanes, Arthur Staple of Newsday reports.
Analysis: Cal Clutterbuck skated with the team Thursday morning, but will be in the press box at game time once again. He seems to be close to returning though, so the Isles' games Saturday and Sunday against the Blue Jackets and Canadiens seem like good targets for him to re-enter the lineup.

Isles' Clutterbuck Takes Part In Morning Skate

News: Cal Clutterbuck (upper body) took part in Thursday's morning skate, Newsday's Arthur Staple reports.
Analysis: Coach Jack Capuano indicated there's a chance Cal Clutterbuck could play Thursday vs. the Canes, but the Islanders will more than likely scratch Clutterbuck to allow Colin McDonald to make his return to the lineup. If Clutterbuck does sit Thursday as expected, there would still be a decent chance for him to dress for the Isles' two weekend contests.

Isles' Clutterbuck Sits During Wednesday's Practice

News: Cal Clutterbuck missed Wednesday's practice with an upper-body injury.
Analysis: The Islanders labeled Cal Clutterbuck as day-to-day, as it's more than likely he got nicked up during Tuesday's loss to the Capitals. The team should have an update on his availability for Thursday vs. the Hurricanes following their morning skate.

Isles' Clutterbuck Scores First

News: Cal Clutterbuck scored his first goal of the year Tuesday in a loss to the Rangers.
Analysis: He broke in alone on Cam Talbot and beat him cleanly -- a nice goal from a guy who's better known for his physicality.

Clutterbuck Returns In Islanders' Loss

News: Cal Clutterbuck played his first game of the season Friday, logging 8:35 and registering two hits in the 3-2 loss to Chicago.
Analysis: Cal Clutterbuck was acquired this past summer in a deal for Nino Niederreitter and brings a blend of speed, physicality and grit to the Isles' lineup. He's regularly one of the league's top hitters and can hit 15-20 goals in a full season.

Isles' Clutterbuck Will Play Friday

News: Cal Clutterbuck (leg) will play Friday against the Blackhawks, the Islanders' official site reports.
Analysis: Cal Clutterbuck was expected to miss four to six weeks, but he's back in a little more than three. The gritty winger is more valuable to the Islanders than he is to most fantasy owners.

Isles' Clutterbuck (Leg) Activated From IR

News: Cal Clutterbuck (leg) was officially activated off IR on Wednesday, Katie Strang of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: The Isles went ahead and brought Cal Clutterbuck back onto the active roster a bit sooner than expected, and it appears that he'll be available for both of this weekend's games. Considering Clutterbuck was expected to miss four-to-six weeks when he got hurt back on Sept. 18, it's fair to say he progressed faster than expected.

Isles' Clutterbuck Expected To Play Friday

News: Cal Clutterbuck is expected to be activated for Friday's game against the Blackhawks, Arthur Staple of Newsday reports.
Analysis: Cal Clutterbuck wasn't quite ready Tuesday, but could be available for both of the team's matchups over the weekend. The gritty winger recorded four goals and six assists in 42 games with the Wild last season, and should be familiar with the Hawks after last-year's first-round playoff meeting.

Isles' Clutterbuck Won't Return Tuesday

News: Cal Clutterbuck (leg) will not be activated from injured reserve Tuesday, Newsday's Arthur Staple reports.
Analysis: Coach Jack Capuano indicated Cal Clutterbuck wasn't quite ready to return just yet, but it seems his comeback remains forthcoming nonetheless. The Islanders have two games over the weekend, and it remains possible that Clutter will return in time for one or both.

Isles' Clutterbuck Could Return Tuesday

News: Cal Clutterbuck (leg) could make an early return and play Tuesday against the Coyotes, New York Newsday reports.
Analysis: Cal Clutterbuck was expected to miss the first four or more weeks of the season with a laceration he suffered on his leg in the preseason. He has made positive strides in recovery and the team will determine his playing status following Monday's practice.

Isles' Clutterbuck Returns To Ice

News: Cal Clutterbuck (leg) returned to the ice at Thursday's practice, Newsday's Arthur Staple reports.
Analysis: Cal Clutterbuck is expected to miss the first four or more weeks of the season with a leg laceration suffered in the preseason. It's a positive first step that he's skating, but he's still a little ways off from playing.
