Wild's Stewart Gets Power-Play Assist

News: Chris Stewart collected a power-play assist in Thursday's Game 1 victory over the Blues.
Analysis: Since joining the Wild at the March 2 trade deadline, Chris Stewart has recorded three goals and nine assists in 21 games, but the assist Thursday gave him his first point on the man advantage. With a top-six role still intact in the postseason, Stewart should be able to continue to maintain a half-point-per-game scoring pace.

Wild's Stewart Grabs Two Assists

News: Chris Stewart picked up two assists, five PIM, and was a plus-3 in Saturday's win over the Kings.
Analysis: A great fantasy outing for Chris Stewart, who has recorded points in back-to-back games. Skating on a line with Mikko Koivu, Stewart has recorded nine points (three goals) in 14 games since being traded to Minnesota. He's seeing power-play time and has been producing steadily for a surging Wild team, so he's worth riding while he's hot.

Wild's Stewart Picking Up Steam

News: Chris Stewart scored a goal and chipped in an assist Tuesday in a 6-2 win over New Jersey.
Analysis: He's now got goals in consecutive games after sort of sleepwalking through his first three contests with the Wild. If Chris Stewart can have an offensive renaissance in Minnesota, it'll go a long way toward building a deep playoff run.

Wild's Stewart Has Goal and Fight

News: Chris Stewart scored his 12th goal of the season (and first for the Wild) and had five penalty minutes for a fight in Sunday's loss to Colorado.
Analysis: Chris Stewart fought Cody McLeod in the first minute of the game. Stewart will get significant ice time and the Wild hope he'll add toughness down the stretch.

Stewart Posts An Assist In Wild Debut

News: Chris Stewart had an assist and was on the ice for 15:06 in his Wild debut in Tuesday's win over Ottawa.
Analysis: It looks like Chris Stewart will be on one of the Wild's top three lines with Miko Koivu, but the third skater on the line changed during the game and may again for the Wild's next matchup. Stewart got just over two minutes of power play ice time, so he'll have a significant role with his new team.

Stewart Moves To Playoff Contender With Wild

News: Chris Stewart has been traded to the Wild in exchange for what is expected to be a 2017 second-rounder, WGR550.com reports.
Analysis: Even though this deal was snuck in just ahead of the deadline, Chris Stewart was as good of a bet as any player in hockey to get dealt Monday. He'll head to a playoff contender, which should immediately boost his plus-minus prospects. And Minnesota might start to be considered Buffalo West, with four former Sabres on the roster once Stewart gets settled. Stewart has a disappointing 25 points in 61 games this season, but he's been playing better lately with the potential to do more with better talent around him. Keep an eye on his line assignment, though it's worth noting that inconsistency has always been a part of his game.

Stewart Notches Two Points For Sabres

News: Chris Stewart picked up a goal and an assist Thursday in a win over the Canucks.
Analysis: Hey, that's now two goals and a helper in the last two games for Chris Stewart, who's making things easier on the Sabres by showcasing the good side of his game as the trade deadline approaches.

Sabres' Stewart Snaps Five-Game Drought

News: Chris Stewart scored his 10th goal of the season in a 4-2 win over Columbus on Tuesday.
Analysis: The goal, scored on the power play, snaps a five-game pointless streak for Chris Stewart, who had caught fire just a few weeks before. Despite his recent drought, he is still getting top-line minutes, skating around 18-19 minutes per game. Trade rumors concerning Stewart have died down a little after his offensive outburst but he is still certainly being talked about. If he gets traded, he gets a nice boost in value for poolies.

Sabres' Stewart (Illness) Will Return Sunday

News: Chris Stewart (illness) has recovered from the flu and will return to the lineup Sunday against the Flyers, Mike Harrington of Buffalo News reports.
Analysis: Chris Stewart missed Saturday's practice due to the illness, but returned for Sunday's morning skate, and will return to the lineup Sunday against the Flyers. The winger has tallied just 22 points this season over 53 games, but has four points in his last three contests.

Sabres' Stewart (Illness) Practices Sunday

News: Chris Stewart (illness) was on the ice for morning skate Sunday.
Analysis: Chris Stewart's presence at practice likely indicates the worst of the illness is behind him, and he should be expected to play in Sunday's contest. He should receive an official status at some point before the opening face-off, but things seem to be pointing towards him taking the ice Sunday against the Flyers.

Sabres' Stewart Out With Flu

News: Chris Stewart missed Saturday's practice with the flu, the Olean Times Herald reports.
Analysis: Chris Stewart's status for Sunday's tilt against Philadelphia is thus up in the air, but the flu shouldn't sideline him for long. The big power forward has been excellent of late, scoring four points in his past four games and revitalizing the team's woeful power play. Coach Ted Nolan said the Sabres will be looking to call up a player from AHL Rochester in advance of Sunday's game, though he didn't indicate whether or not it would be a forward.

Sabres' Stewart Sets Up Three

News: Chris Stewart had three assists in Buffalo's 3-2 win over Dallas. He has nine points (four goals, five assists) in his last eight games.
Analysis: It's about time. He has just 21 points in 51 games this season, but this recent success will certainly help his trade value. He's definitely on the block, so a change of scenery will be a boost to his fantasy value.

Two More Tallies For Sabres` Stewart

News: Chris Stewart found the back of the net twice in Friday's 5-2 loss to the Canucks.
Analysis: Chris Stewart has just 18 points in 48 games this year, but it's important to note that eight of those -- including four goals -- have come in the last nine contests. Is the 27-year-old motivated by the potential of being moved out of the barren wasteland that is Buffalo prior to the March 2 trade deadline? We're not sure, but Stewart's recent production certainly garners attention. Keep an eye on him, and don't be afraid to pull the trigger if and when he gets traded -- as his value would instantly spike if he gets a shot to play for literally any team other than the Sabres.

Sabres' Stewart Scores In Two Straight Games

News: Chris Stewart had Buffalo's lone tally in a 4-1 loss to Calgary on Tuesday.
Analysis: Chris Stewart was on a two-game point streak prior to the break and is picking up some steam in the second half of the season. Stewart's goal came from a redirection in front of the net off a Tyler Ennis pass and gives him two goals in his past two games, both of which were scored on the power play. With the trade deadline a month away, Stewart has been a constant in the rumor mill. He should get a boost in fantasy if he leaves Buffalo. He has 16 points in 46 games this season.

Sabres' Stewart Remains Bruins Trade Target

News: The Bruins may still be looking to trade for Chris Stewart, reports The Boston Globe.
Analysis: With 15 points in 45 games, Chris Stewart isn't having a good season for the Sabres and on most nights doesn't seem too interested in the game. It's not entirely his fault as the Sabres continue to struggle, and his mix of size and skill is still attractive to other teams. The Bruins are already keeping David Pastrnak around, but they like Stewart's versatility and his playing style is similar to Milan Lucic's. Stewart's fantasy value gets a huge boost if he moves to Boston, but the Sabres' asking price will be quite high with the team still undergoing a re-build.

Sabres' Stewart Interests Predators

News: Chris Stewart may be a trade target for the Predators, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reports.
Analysis: Chris Stewart has three points in his past three games and has played much better of late, especially on the power play. The 27-year-old power forward still possesses plenty of potential, and his rare mix of size and skill has always intrigued other teams. Buffalo hasn't been a fun place to play in and Stewart may welcome the change. The Sabres, on the other hand, will be looking for picks and prospects to augment their re-build. Stewart's fantasy value will increase once and if he moves away from Buffalo.

Sabres' Stewart Quietly Improving Game

News: Chris Stewart delivered his first two-point game of the season in Saturday's 4-3 loss to Philadelphia.
Analysis: Don't look now, but he actually has 10 points, including eight assist, in 14 games over the last month. It's a pace that will likely see him traded before the deadline. He's bound to deliver more in another situation, so you might want to stash him on your roster now in anticipation. Hey -- he might even help now, too ... as long as you can swallow a minus-10 rating in that same span.

Sabres' Stewart Set To Return

News: Chris Stewart (illness) will return to action Thursday against the Wild, Bill Hoppe of the Olean Times Herald reports.
Analysis: Chris Stewart -- who missed Tuesday's game against the Red Wings -- skated on the Sabres' third line at practice Wednesday along with Cody Hodgson and Phil Varone. To date, the winger has notched five goals and 12 points in 42 games, to go along with 41 PIM and a minus-19 rating.

Sabres' Stewart (Illness) Returns To Practice

News: Chris Stewart (illness) returned to practice Wednesday, Bill Hoppe of the Olean Times Herald reports.
Analysis: He skated on the third line with Cody Hodgson and Phil Varone, a sign he could be ready to go for Thursday's tilt with the Wild. Chris Stewart was forced to sit out Tuesday's game after missing practice the prior few days due to the illness.

Sabres' Stewart (Flu) Expected To Sit Tuesday

News: Chris Stewart (illness) isn't expected to play Tuesday against the Red Wings.
Analysis: Chris Stewart had missed the last two days of practice while battling the flu. He returned to the ice in a limited capacity at Tuesday's morning skate, but the Sabres appear inclined to hold him out for precautionary purposes. Matt Ellis was recalled from AHL Rochester on Tuesday and figures to fill Stewart's spot in the lineup.

Sabres Stewart Dealing With Flu

News: Chris Stewart did not practice Sunday because of the flu, the Buffalo News reports.

Sabres' Stewart Sees Point Streak Hit Five

News: Chris Stewart registered an assist in Monday's loss to the Senators, giving him a point in five consecutive games.
Analysis: A healthy scratch by the Sabres at one point earlier this month, Chris Stewart seems to have answered the bell ever since. While his shot attempts have tailed off in recent weeks, he's benefiting from a little more puck luck after he was unable to buy a goal through most of October and November. Now that he's locked back into a top-six role, there's potential for Stewart to provide half-point-per-game scoring production the rest of the way. That would give him some value in deeper formats.

Point Streak Moves To Three For Sabres' Stewart

News: Chris Stewart netted his fourth goal of the season in Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Red Wings. He's now tallied a point in three straight games.
Analysis: Slowly but surely, Chris Stewart is beginning to dig himself out of his painfully slow start to the season. His shooting percentage still sits a full seven points below his career rate, giving Stewart some potential to notice a surge in his goal scoring as the season progresses. Even if that shooting rate stabilizes, however, Stewart's plus/minus rating -- which currently sits at minus-15 -- might be too much of a drain to get much utility out of any increase in goals.

Sabres' Stewart: Assist, But Needs To Pick Up Pace

News: Chris Stewart picked up an assist in Saturday's loss to the Avalanche. He has two assists in his last three games.
Analysis: This season has been a monumental struggle for Chris Stewart, who has just six points (three goals, three assists) in some 32 games this year. His name continues to swirl in trade rumors, but the reality is painful -- he won't command much in trade and he's not delivering enough to be fantasy-relevant.

Sabres' Stewart Looks Like A Scratch

News: Chris Stewart remained on the ice after Tuesday's morning skate and looks like he could be a healthy scratch for the Sabres' game against the Kings, John Vogl of the Buffalo News reports.
Analysis: Chris Stewart has struggled all season long for the Sabres, producing just three goals and four points over 27 games. His uninspired play of late has prompted coach Ted Nolan to give him less than 10 minutes in each of the previous two contests, and now it looks like he'll head off to the press box for the first time this season. Patrick Kaleta will replace him on Buffalo's fourth line.
