Sabres' Stewart Scores In Two Straight Games

News: Chris Stewart had Buffalo's lone tally in a 4-1 loss to Calgary on Tuesday.
Analysis: Chris Stewart was on a two-game point streak prior to the break and is picking up some steam in the second half of the season. Stewart's goal came from a redirection in front of the net off a Tyler Ennis pass and gives him two goals in his past two games, both of which were scored on the power play. With the trade deadline a month away, Stewart has been a constant in the rumor mill. He should get a boost in fantasy if he leaves Buffalo. He has 16 points in 46 games this season.

Sabres' Stewart Remains Bruins Trade Target

News: The Bruins may still be looking to trade for Chris Stewart, reports The Boston Globe.
Analysis: With 15 points in 45 games, Chris Stewart isn't having a good season for the Sabres and on most nights doesn't seem too interested in the game. It's not entirely his fault as the Sabres continue to struggle, and his mix of size and skill is still attractive to other teams. The Bruins are already keeping David Pastrnak around, but they like Stewart's versatility and his playing style is similar to Milan Lucic's. Stewart's fantasy value gets a huge boost if he moves to Boston, but the Sabres' asking price will be quite high with the team still undergoing a re-build.

Sabres' Stewart Interests Predators

News: Chris Stewart may be a trade target for the Predators, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reports.
Analysis: Chris Stewart has three points in his past three games and has played much better of late, especially on the power play. The 27-year-old power forward still possesses plenty of potential, and his rare mix of size and skill has always intrigued other teams. Buffalo hasn't been a fun place to play in and Stewart may welcome the change. The Sabres, on the other hand, will be looking for picks and prospects to augment their re-build. Stewart's fantasy value will increase once and if he moves away from Buffalo.

Sabres' Stewart Quietly Improving Game

News: Chris Stewart delivered his first two-point game of the season in Saturday's 4-3 loss to Philadelphia.
Analysis: Don't look now, but he actually has 10 points, including eight assist, in 14 games over the last month. It's a pace that will likely see him traded before the deadline. He's bound to deliver more in another situation, so you might want to stash him on your roster now in anticipation. Hey -- he might even help now, too ... as long as you can swallow a minus-10 rating in that same span.

Sabres' Stewart Set To Return

News: Chris Stewart (illness) will return to action Thursday against the Wild, Bill Hoppe of the Olean Times Herald reports.
Analysis: Chris Stewart -- who missed Tuesday's game against the Red Wings -- skated on the Sabres' third line at practice Wednesday along with Cody Hodgson and Phil Varone. To date, the winger has notched five goals and 12 points in 42 games, to go along with 41 PIM and a minus-19 rating.

Sabres' Stewart (Illness) Returns To Practice

News: Chris Stewart (illness) returned to practice Wednesday, Bill Hoppe of the Olean Times Herald reports.
Analysis: He skated on the third line with Cody Hodgson and Phil Varone, a sign he could be ready to go for Thursday's tilt with the Wild. Chris Stewart was forced to sit out Tuesday's game after missing practice the prior few days due to the illness.

Sabres' Stewart (Flu) Expected To Sit Tuesday

News: Chris Stewart (illness) isn't expected to play Tuesday against the Red Wings.
Analysis: Chris Stewart had missed the last two days of practice while battling the flu. He returned to the ice in a limited capacity at Tuesday's morning skate, but the Sabres appear inclined to hold him out for precautionary purposes. Matt Ellis was recalled from AHL Rochester on Tuesday and figures to fill Stewart's spot in the lineup.

Sabres Stewart Dealing With Flu

News: Chris Stewart did not practice Sunday because of the flu, the Buffalo News reports.
Analysis: As a result, Chris Stewart is questionable for Tuesday's game against Detroit, with the Sabres having recalled forwards Phil Varone and Zac Dalpe in order to bolster their depth up front.

Sabres' Stewart Sees Point Streak Hit Five

News: Chris Stewart registered an assist in Monday's loss to the Senators, giving him a point in five consecutive games.
Analysis: A healthy scratch by the Sabres at one point earlier this month, Chris Stewart seems to have answered the bell ever since. While his shot attempts have tailed off in recent weeks, he's benefiting from a little more puck luck after he was unable to buy a goal through most of October and November. Now that he's locked back into a top-six role, there's potential for Stewart to provide half-point-per-game scoring production the rest of the way. That would give him some value in deeper formats.

Point Streak Moves To Three For Sabres' Stewart

News: Chris Stewart netted his fourth goal of the season in Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Red Wings. He's now tallied a point in three straight games.
Analysis: Slowly but surely, Chris Stewart is beginning to dig himself out of his painfully slow start to the season. His shooting percentage still sits a full seven points below his career rate, giving Stewart some potential to notice a surge in his goal scoring as the season progresses. Even if that shooting rate stabilizes, however, Stewart's plus/minus rating -- which currently sits at minus-15 -- might be too much of a drain to get much utility out of any increase in goals.

Sabres' Stewart: Assist, But Needs To Pick Up Pace

News: Chris Stewart picked up an assist in Saturday's loss to the Avalanche. He has two assists in his last three games.
Analysis: This season has been a monumental struggle for Chris Stewart, who has just six points (three goals, three assists) in some 32 games this year. His name continues to swirl in trade rumors, but the reality is painful -- he won't command much in trade and he's not delivering enough to be fantasy-relevant.

Sabres' Stewart Looks Like A Scratch

News: Chris Stewart remained on the ice after Tuesday's morning skate and looks like he could be a healthy scratch for the Sabres' game against the Kings, John Vogl of the Buffalo News reports.
Analysis: Chris Stewart has struggled all season long for the Sabres, producing just three goals and four points over 27 games. His uninspired play of late has prompted coach Ted Nolan to give him less than 10 minutes in each of the previous two contests, and now it looks like he'll head off to the press box for the first time this season. Patrick Kaleta will replace him on Buffalo's fourth line.

Sabres' Stewart Scores In Loss

News: Chris Stewart notched his team's only goal in Wednesday's 2-1 loss to the Jets.
Analysis: The goal gave Chris Stewart his first point in his last nine games, as the once productive fantasy winger seems to have vanished since being acquired by the Sabres. He does have 20 PIM, but his minus-11 rating makes him a rather unattractive option at this point.

Sabres' Stewart Nets First Goal

News: Chris Stewart scored a game tying goal in the third period of Sunday's 3-2 shootout win over the Red Wings.
Analysis: That was Chris Stewart's first goal in 33 games, almost ten full months since he scored last season. It was a big relief for the big power forward who has struggled since his 28-goal campaign four years ago. Stewart's still got plenty of potential and has been a staple in the rumor mill with Ottawa and Boston reportedly interested. The Sabres are hoping he can keep this up to bump up his trade value since general manager Tim Murray seems like a guy who wouldn't hesitate to pull the trigger if the right deal came along.

Sabres' Stewart Bumped To Top Line

News: Chris Stewart is the newest right winger on the top line with center Tyler Ennis and left winger Matt Moulson, reports The Buffalo News.
Analysis: Chris Stewart has fired 26 shots on goal in nine games but has just one assist to show for his efforts. As one of Buffalo's biggest and strongest forwards, head coach Ted Nolan is hoping that he can open up some more space for Ennis and Moulson to generate some offense. Stewart's name has been a constant in the rumor mill of late and the hapless Sabres aren't in playoff contention, which may lend to the belief that the Sabres are showcasing Stewart for an eventual trade. Stewart is five years removed from a 28-goal season and still has lots of potential. He is a very risky play in fantasy at the moment but his value will certainly get a boost should he be traded.

Sabres' Stewart Continues Early Season Struggles

News: Chris Stewart fired seven shots on goal, but was held without a point in a loss to the Kings on Thursday.
Analysis: Chris Stewart has yet to score this year, and has registered just one point in eight games. However, he leads the Sabres and ranks 12th in the league with 26 shot attempts, suggesting that his first goal may not be far away. If he can continue to create shot opportunities for himself and gradually approach his career 13.1 percent shooting rate, the points could begin to pick up steadily for Stewart.

Bruins Interested In Sabres' Stewart

News: The Bruins are interested in acquiring Chris Stewart, reports theScore.
Analysis: The Bruins have been looking for a top-six right winger following the departures of Jarome Iginla and Nathan Horton. Chris Stewart, a bruising power forward, plays a similar straight-ahead style, but lacks the goal-scoring pedigree of Iginla and Horton. Still, it could be a good fit. Stewart's style of play fits perfectly with the Bruins and his stock will skyrocket if he gets first look on David Krejci's line. Stewart is also reportedly in high demand by other teams. It's safe to assume that everyone is available on the Sabres as they continue their re-build. Stewart has zero goals in 11 career games with Buffalo.

Sabres' Stewart (Lower Body) Will Miss Finale

News: Chris Stewart will miss the Sabres' season finale with a lower-body injury.
Analysis: Chris Stewart missed a little over a month with an ankle injury before returning on Tuesday. The winger will not record a point with the Sabres this season after being traded on Feb. 28. He will have to wait for next season to light the lamp for Buffalo.

Sabres' Stewart Leaves With Lower-Body Injury

News: Chris Stewart left Saturday's contest with a lower-body injury and will not return.
Analysis: Chris Stewart was questionable to return for any of the regular season after suffering a right ankle injury on March 6. He finally returned to the lineup on April 8 before leaving Saturday's game. The report doesn't indicate if the injury is related to the ankle ailment that cost him a month, but Stewart's season is likely over with just one meaningless game remaining for the Sabres.

Sabres' Stewart To Play Tuesday

News: Chris Stewart (ankle) will play Tuesday against the Red Wings, Bill Hoppe of the Olean Times Herald reports.
Analysis: Expected to miss the rest of the season after suffering the ankle injury two games into his tenure with the Sabres, Chris Stewart decided to push for a return even with Buffalo playing for nothing more than pride at this point. He'll skate on the right wing alongside Tyler Ennis and Marcus Foligno and might be worth picking up in deeper leagues for the final week if he was dropped by a fantasy owner who didn't expect him back before season's end.

Sabres' Stewart Could Return To Action On Tuesday

News: Chris Stewart (ankle) could return to action as soon as Tuesday against the Red Wings, the Times Herald reports.
Analysis: Chris Stewart has been out since March 6 and while there was talk that the Sabres might shut him down for the season, a return for the team's last few games now seems possible.

Sabres' Stewart Hasn't Ruled Out Return

News: Chris Stewart (ankle) hasn't written off returning to the ice for the Sabres this season, Mike Harrington of the Buffalo News reports.
Analysis: Chris Stewart was on the ice for Thursday's morning skate, and while he won't be playing against the Blues, he could set his sights on returning for one of the Sabres' final games of the season. Coach Ted Nolan had suggested a few weeks ago that Stewart would more than likely be shut down for the rest of 2013-14, but those plans could change if he makes further strides in his recovery within the next few days.

Sabres' Stewart Still Not Close

News: Chris Stewart (ankle) will not accompany the Sabres on their upcoming road trip that starts Tuesday at Calgary, according to John Vogl of The Buffalo News.
Analysis: It's a five-game trip, though we'll note the Sabres mentioned Tyler Myers could possibly jump in at some point while nothing was mentioned about Chris Stewart. So it seems like he's out for at least a couple more weeks. Coach Ted Nolan previously implied it would be a surprise if Buffalo's recent acquisition got in any more games the rest of the way.

Sabres' Stewart Could Be Done For The Season

News: Chris Stewart (ankle) could be done for the season, The Buffalo News reports. "Stewart doesn't look good right now," interim coach Ted Nolan said. "There are only five weeks left in the year and his injury is four-to-five weeks."
Analysis: Based on the timetable outlined by Nolan, it looks like Chris Stewart's season will come to a close after 60 games, over which he has scored 26 points. Stewart did not record a point in two games for the Sabres after being acquired in the deal that sent Ryan Miller to the Blues.

Sabres' Stewart Out At Least Another Week

News: Chris Stewart (ankle) will be out for at least another week, according to interim coach Ted Nolan.
Analysis: After enduring immense trade talk at the deadline, Chris Stewart remained a Sabre, but then suffered an ankle injury during Thursday's game against the Lightning. Nolan says it's at least a week, but it could be much longer. The team will continue to update his condition throughout the week.
