Canes' Dwyer Notches Two Points

News: Patrick Dwyer picked up a goal and an assist in Tuesday's win over Columbus. He also went plus-2 in the contest.
Analysis: This is rare offense from Patrick Dwyer, who now has all of 18 points on the year. He has rock-bottom fantasy value unless your league counts hits, in which case he has near-rock-bottom fantasy value.

Canes' Dwyer Assists In Win Over Sabres

News: Patrick Dwyer registered an assist against the Sabres on Thursday, his first point in five games.
Analysis: Patrick Dwyer now has 16 points on the season, matching last year's total, and putting him just two points away from his career-high of 18 from three seasons ago. He remains a marginal fantasy play in deeper formats.

Canes' Dwyer A Plus-1 In Return To Lineup

News: Patrick Dwyer (upper body) finished with a plus-1 rating in his return to the ice Friday vs. the Blues.

Dwyer Practicing With 'Canes Again

News: Patrick Dwyer (upper body) practiced on the third line alongside Nathan Gerbe and Manny Malhotra on Thursday.
Analysis: Patrick Dwyer's sat out six of the Hurricanes' last seven games with the ailment, but it appears there's a chance he could get back in the lineup Friday against St. Louis.

Hurricanes' Dwyer Expected To Play Saturday

News: Patrick Dwyer (lower body) is expected to return to the lineup Saturday vs. the Panthers, Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News & Observer reports.
Analysis: Patrick Dwyer was on the ice for Friday's practice and was a full participant in morning skate Saturday, so it looks like he'll be back in the lineup without having to miss any time. He skated on the second line with Nathan Gerbe and Jordan Staal at morning skate.

Hurricanes' Dwyer Dealing With Lower-Body Injury

News: Patrick Dwyer missed Tuesday's practice with a lower-body injury, Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News & Observer reports.
Analysis: The Hurricanes won't play again until Saturday, so Patrick Dwyer still has a good deal of time to recover from the injury before the team would determine whether a call-up is needed to take his spot in the lineup. The 30-year-old has been on the second line with Nathan Gerbe and Jordan Staal in recent games, but he hasn't come closing to matching the production of either of those two players.

Carolina's Dwyer: Two Assists In Win

News: Patrick Dwyer set up two Hurricanes goals in a 3-2 win over the Islanders on Saturday night.
Analysis: Wow -- if that was all it took to get him going then we would have called him out sooner than we did. This little outburst may keep him in the NHL ... for now.

Canes’ Dwyer Struggling To Produce

News: Patrick Dwyer has just 10 points in 37 games so far this season.
Analysis: Patrick Dwyer was a decent scorer in the minor leagues, having recorded at least 40 points in three of the four full seasons he played in the AHL, but that success has so far not translated to the NHL level.  He continues to average roughly 15 minutes per night playing on the Canes' second line, but his production is way behind that of his linemates, Jordan Staal and Nathan Gerbe – for example, Staal and Gerbe each have seven points in their last 10 games, while Dwyer has just two. With the 'Canes in the middle of making wholesale changes to their roster, Dwyer could find himself back in the minors or playing for a different team altogether. Feel free to sit him in favor of a more viable fantasy alternative, if you have one.

Canes' Dwyer Returns To Action Monday

News: Patrick Dwyer (upper body) saw 14:02 of ice time in his return to action Monday against the Canucks.
Analysis: It looks like Patrick Dwyer's upper-body injury was only a minor concern, as the winger missed just one game of action due to the ailment. He was held scoreless in Monday's contest, but registered two shots on goal and two hits.

Hurricanes' Dwyer Notches Two Points

News: Patrick Dwyer scored a goal and added an assist in Tuesday's win over Colorado.
Analysis: A rare offensive outburst for Patrick Dwyer, who had just a single lonely point in 15 games entering Tuesday's action. Not much to see here.

Canes' Dwyer Plays 15:47 In Return

News: Patrick Dwyer skated for 15:47 against the Penguins in his return from injured reserve Monday against the Penguins.
Analysis: He logged three hits and fired off two shots on goal in the game. Patrick Dwyer has never been a particularly proficient scorer for the Canes and doesn't offer any particularly enticing numbers in any one category.

Canes' Dwyer Back To Practice Sunday

News: Patrick Dwyer (upper body) returned to practice on Sunday for the Hurricanes, Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News & Observer reports.
Analysis: Patrick Dwyer has been on injured reserve with an upper-body injury, but has clearly made enough progress to return to practice. His timeline for returning to game action is uncertain at this point, but he appears to be close.

Canes' Dwyer Going On IR

News: Patrick Dwyer (upper body) will be placed on IR, Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News & Observer reports.
Analysis: Patrick Dwyer missed practice again Wednesday, and it appears the injury will indeed keep him out for a substantial amount of time. Radek Dvorak is expected to fill in for Dwyer on the Canes' second line until he returns.

Canes' Dwyer Misses Practice

News: Patrick Dwyer (upper body) was not at practice Wednesday, Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News & Observer reports.
Analysis: There's still no update on the severity of Patrick Dwyer's injury, so he should still be considered day-to-day for now. Radek Dvorak is expected to continue to fill in for Dwyer on the Canes' second line with Jordan Staal and Nathan Gerbe until Dwyer can return.

Canes' Dwyer Has Upper-Body Injury

News: Patrick Dwyer is dealing with an upper-body injury, Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News & Observer reports.
Analysis: Patrick Dwyer has been off to a slow start this season for the Hurricanes, totaling one assist in the first nine games. The exact nature of his injury has not been not disclosed.

Canes' Dwyer Struggling To Find His Game

News: Patrick Dwyer has just a single assist in eight games so far this season, despite playing on Carolina's second line alongside Jordan Staal and Nathan Gerbe.
Analysis: The offensively challenged Canes will probably look to make a change at some point in order to spark some offense, so don't be surprised to see Patrick Dwyer bumped down to a checking-line role. Dwyer has never scored more than 18 points in a single season, and there's absolutely no evidence to suggest that will change anytime soon.

Temporary Promotion For Canes' Dwyer

News: Patrick Dwyer could open the regular season on the second line, according to the Raleigh News & Observer.
Analysis: Don't read too much into this initially, as Patrick Dwyer has been skating with Jordan Staal and Nathan Gerbe during the preseason mainly as a result of injuries to Alexander Semin, Tuomo Ruutu, Jeff Skinner and Elias Lindholm. Once the walking wounded return, Dwyer will surely wind up back on a checking line where he should spend most of his time this season.

Hurricanes' Dwyer (Lower Body) Returning Saturday

News: Patrick Dwyer (lower body) will return to the ice for Saturday's game against the Bruins, the Raleigh News and Observer reports.
Analysis: Patrick Dwyer missed the past two games but will get back to action Saturday night. He has seven goals and seven assists in 38 games this season.

Hurricanes' Dwyer Out Tuesday

News: Patrick Dwyer is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Penguins, according to Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News & Observer.
Analysis: Alexander surmises it's an injury based on some statements head coach Kirk Muller made earlier, but in any case, Patrick Dwyer won't be playing Tuesday. With a modest 14 points on the season, it's unlikely you're relying on him, but if he is in fact injured, it's just one more problem for the reeling Hurricanes to deal with.

Hurricanes' Dwyer Settling Into Checking Line Role

News: Patrick Dwyer is currently averaging 14:39 of ice time playing on a checking line alongside Riley Nash and Chris Terry.
Analysis: Patrick Dwyer is playing his role as expected this season. His plus-1 rating shows he's not a liability in his own zone most nights, and his nine points (4G 5A) means he can also chip in with some secondary scoring from time to time. Unfortunately, this all adds up to not a whole lot of fantasy value in most formats.

Canes Give Dwyer Two-Year Extension

News: Patrick Dwyer signed a two-year extension worth $1.8 million with the Hurricanes on Wednesday, the Raleigh News & Observer reports.
Analysis: Patrick Dwyer, 29, totaled 12 points in 73 games for the Canes last season. He provided most of his highlights defensively, where he tied for third on the team in hits (129) and second among forwards in blocked shots (62). Dwyer is a type of player who is holds more value in real life than he does in the fantasy game.

News: Patrick Dwyer will join Carolina teammate Justin Faulk in Scandinavia for the IIHF's upcoming World Championships, the team's official site reports.

Hurricanes' Dwyer Out For Saturday

News: Patrick Dwyer (personal) will not take part in Saturday's road contest as the Hurricanes close out their season versus the Panthers, Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News and Observer reports.
Analysis: Any fantasy value Patrick Dwyer may have had in this game is obviously gone now. Be sure he is not in your starting lineup.

Dwyer Returns for Hurricanes

News: Patrick Dwyer (lower body) will play Tuesday night against the Capitals, according to Bob Wage of Canes Country.
Analysis: Patrick Dwyer will see third-line action after not playing since February 25. He only has 10 points in 57 games played this year, so don't rush to get him back in your lineup.
