Sharks Send Pelech To AHL

News: Matt Pelech was sent to AHL Worcester on Saturday, according to the Mercury News.
Analysis: Matt Pelech was brought up to provide additional physical presence in San Jose, but with the team losing two straight they're looking for some offense as they've recalled Matt Nieto and Freddie Hamilton from the AHL on Saturday.

Sharks Recall Pelech From AHL

News: Matt Pelech was recalled from AHL Worcester on Tuesday.
Analysis: Matt Pelech played in five games earlier this season for the Sharks, totaling one goal and 22 penalty minutes. He had a goal and 34 penalty minutes in nine games with AHL Worcester this season.

Sharks' Pelech Sent To AHL

News: Matt Pelech was sent to AHL Worcester by the Sharks on Monday.
Analysis: Matt Pelech has played in five games this season with the Sharks, scoring one goal, but his main value is penalty minutes -- he's already accumulated 22 of them. Pelech will work in the AHL for now, but the Sharks could look to bring back his big-bodied, physical presence later this year.

Sharks' Pelech Gets Game Misconduct

News: Matt Pelech got a game misconduct Tuesday after retaliating for a hit that saw Dan Boyle leave the game on a stretcher.
Analysis: Matt Pelech was brought up from the AHL to provide additional physical presence for the team. That's what he did. If you picked him up, you got the stats you signed up for, 15 minutes in penalties and nothing else.

Pelech To Stay In Lineup For Sharks

News: Matt Pelech, who has been up and down from the AHL quite a bit already this year, will stay in the lineup for San Jose's Saturday game against Ottawa, CSN Bay Area reports.
Analysis: Matt Pelech was likely called up for some extra size against Vancouver, who had Tom Sestito in the lineup. David Pollak of the Mercury News speculates that Pelech may not have been reassigned due to the presence of Chris Neil in Saturday's game. No matter why he's on the roster Saturday, Pelech, who will remain on San Jose's infrequently-used fourth line, has little value for your fantasy team.

Sharks' Pelech Nets First NHL Goal

News: Matt Pelech scored his first NHL goal on his lone shot in Thursday's win.
Analysis: There's something in the water in San Jose. That's three straight games where someone scored their first NHL goal. However, Matt Pelech — unlike Matt Nieto and Tomas Hertl — probably isn't going to find his way onto your roster any time soon. He only saw 5:56 of ice time and has already been reassigned three times this season.

Sharks Recall Pelech From AHL

News: Matt Pelech was recalled from AHL Worcester on Wednesday, Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area reports.
Analysis: Matt Pelech will give the Sharks some extra depth on the wing with Adam Burish still sidelined. He appeared in the Sharks' opener before being send down to Worcester.

Sharks Assign Pelech To AHL

News: Matt Pelech was assigned to AHL Worcester on Friday, CSN Bay Area reports.
Analysis: Matt Pelech saw five minutes of ice time in Thursday's opener and didn't do enough to stand out during that time. He'll be replaced on the roster by John McCarthy, who was called up from Worcester in a corresponding move.

Sharks Recall Pelech

News: Matt Pelech was recalled from ECHL San Francisco on Wednesday, CSNBayArea.com reports.
Analysis: Matt Pelech was among the team's final roster cut earlier in the week, but San Jose needed to bring him back with Adam Burish (lower body) officially ruled out for Thursday. The 26-year-old Pelech is expected to play on the fourth line with Andrew Desjardins and James Sheppard in the opener.

Sharks Reassign Pelech

News: Matt Pelech has been sent to San Francisco of the ECHL with the team's final round of cuts.
Analysis: Matt Pelech played two games last season for the Sharks, accumulating seven penalty minutes and no other stats. He'll probably see a little ice time at some point this season, but he lacks fantasy relevance except as a PIM specialist.

Sharks Re-Sign Pelech

News: Matt Pelech signed a one-year contract with San Jose on Wednesday.
Analysis: Matt Pelech hasn't turned into a reliable contributor since the Flames took him 26th overall back in 2005. The big defender is little more than a fighter at this point, as his 20 points in the last three AHL seasons take a backseat to his 604 penalty minutes over the same span.

Sharks Reassign Pelech

News: The Sharks reassigned Matt Pelech to AHL Worcester on Monday.
Analysis: Matt Pelech was brought up Saturday, but did not dress for the Sharks on Sunday. He returns to Worcester ranked seventh in the AHL in PIMs with 186.

Sharks' Pelech Recalled

News: Matt Pelech was recalled from AHL Worceter on Saturday, CSN Bay Area reports.
Analysis: Matt Pelech played in two games with the Sharks earlier this year and has three assists in seven career games. He probably won't see enough of the ice to hold any fantasy value in most leagues.

Sharks' Pelech Reassigned to AHL Worcester

News: The Sharks have reassigned Matt Pelech to AHL Worcester, the San Jose Mercury News reports.
Analysis: Matt Pelech only skated in one game for the Sharks tallying just under seven minutes of playing time along with two penalty minutes. Look for him to get called back up if any injuries hit the roster.

Sharks' Pelech Recalled From AHL Worcester

News: The Sharks have recalled Matt Pelech from AHL Worcester, the San Jose Mercury News reports.
Analysis: James Sheppard was sent to IR, opening up a roster spot. Look for Matt Pelech to skate on the fourth line for the Sharks if he's able to get any playing time.

Sharks Reassign Pelech

News: The Sharks have reassigned Matt Pelech to AHL Worcester.

Sharks Recall Pelech

News: The Sharks have recalled Matt Pelech from AHL Worcester.
Analysis: Matt Pelech will look to bring some added toughness to the Sharks lineup when he makes his season debut Monday night against the Blue Jackets. The winger only has four points in 34 games for Worcester this season, but currently ranks third in the AHL with 177 PIMs.

Sharks' Pelech Reassigned To AHL Worcester

News: Matt Pelech has been sent down to Worcester of the AHL, the San Jose Mercury News reports.
Analysis: As a player with just five games of NHL experience under his belt, Matt Pelech was a long shot to make the big-league roster out of training camp.

Pelech Signs With Sharks

News: The Sharks have signed Pelech to a one-year contract, the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Pelech recorded five points for AHL Abbotsford in 59 games this past season, while leading the team with 198 penalty minutes. He battled injuries while in the Flames' system, but now the 26th overall pick in the 2005 Entry Draft gets a fresh start with the Sharks' organization.

Flames' Pelech Set For Free Agency

News: Pelech was not given a qualifying offer by the Flames and is on track to become an unrestricted free agent July 1, the Calgary Herald reports.
Analysis: Pelech's development as a hard-shooting defenseman has been painstakingly slow the past few years due to significant injuries to his knee and shoulder."When you get hurt, you always take a couple of steps back,"he said. "I've missed 20 games, 40 games and 20 games in the last three seasons. So that's a whole season I've missed over the last three years." Pelech has played in just five NHL games in his career, and that was back in 2008-09 before he had to deal with a blood clot in his right shoulder. He has a big hill to climb if he wishes to land with another team, but as noted in the report, Pelech is not giving up.

Pelech Waived By Flames on Monday

News: Pelech was waived by the Flames on Monday, the Calgary Herald reports.
Analysis: "Obvioiusly, I didn't achieve what I wanted to in this camp," Pelech said. "I thought I had a good chance to come in and make the team. I didn't play as well as I need to make it. So obviously, it's not a great feeling." Teams now have 24 hours to claim Pelech or he'll report to Abbotsford Heat of the AHL.

Flames Pelech Nursing Arm Injury

News: Pelech has been sidelined due to "general maintenance," though he's had ice packs on his right arm, the Calgary Herald reports.
Analysis: Pelech is in a battle for the final defenseman roster spot, but is falling behind fellow rookie T.J. Brodie. It'll be interesting to see if the Flames try to pass him through waivers.

Pelech Returns From Blood Clot

News: Pelech's 2009-10 season was marred by a blood clot near the base of his right shoulder, the Calgary Herald reports. He ultimately missed 37 games after a laborious process to remove the clot.
Analysis: Pelech, a former first-round draft pick, has a two-way contract but has to clear through waivers if the Flames try to send him down. But the team has eight other blueliners in camp that probably slot ahead of him.

Flames send three to minors

News: The Flames have sent LW Kyle Greentree, C Brett Sutter and D Matt Pelech to the minors.
Analysis: None of these players have any Fantasy value.
