Salcido dealing with post-concussion issues

News: The Orange County Register reports that Ducks D Brian Salcido, who is currently in the AHL, has been sidelined with post-concussion syndrome.
Analysis: Salcido has a nice offensive side to his game, but has little Fantasy value while in the minors.

Ducks keep puck-moving Salcido

News: The Ducks re-signed defenseman Brian Salcido to a one-year contract Monday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Analysis: Fantasy owners are itching to see Salcido get a crack at full-time NHL work. He has been a solid offensive defenseman in the minors and has totaled 123 points (28 goals) in 223 games in the AHL. He appeared in two games for the Ducks in 2008-09, recording one assist and a plus-2 rating. Salcido might get a chance to make the roster in training camp, but he still remains more of a long-term Fantasy keeper.

Salcido moving the puck in AHL

News: Ducks minor leaguer Brian Salcido is having a fine season for Iowa of the AHL. He has totaled five goals and 21 assists in the first 42 games, after totaling 11 goals and 42 assists in 71 games last season for Portland.
Analysis: With all the injury problems Anaheim has had on defense this season, it would almost make sense to add Salcido to the roster at this point. He has always been a solid passer from the blue line and appears to be playing well over his fifth-round status in 2005. Salcido remains just a long-term Fantasy keeper.

Ducks cut 10 from camp

News: The Orange County Register reports that the Ducks have assigned eight players to their AHL affiliate, the Iowa Chops, and sent LW Logan MacMillan and C Maxime Macenauer to their respective junior teams. On their way to Iowa are: G Jean-Philippe Levasseur, D Brian Salcido, D Brendan Mikkelson, D Ross Lupaschuk, D John de Gray, RW Eric Boguniecki, C Petteri Wirtanen and LW Michal Birner.
Analysis: None of these players are expected to make any sort of Fantasy impact in 2008-09, so continue to ignore them in all formats.

Ducks reassign, release players

News: The Anaheim Ducks sent Bobby Bolt, Joe Callahan, Stephen Dixon, Andrew Ebbett, Brett Festerling, Mike Hoffman, Shane Hynes, Matt Keith, Dan LaCouture, Jean-Philippe Levasseur, Brendan Mikkelson, Brian Salcido and Clay Wilson to Portland of the AHL on Wednesday.
Analysis: The team also released Tyler Bouck and assigned youngsters Maxime Macenauer to Rouyn-Noranda of the QMJHL and Eric Tangradi to Belleville of the OHL to the juniors. None of the players mentioned above are worthy of any Fantasy consideration.
