Canes' Sanguinetti Leaves For KHL

News: Bobby Sanguinetti will play the 2013-14 season for Atlant of the KHL, Andrew Gross of the Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: The defenseman recorded two goals and four assists while playing 37 games as part of the Canes' bottom pairing in 2013. Although he's not exactly a big name, the thought of players leaving the NHL for the lucrative money of the KHL is worrisome to any fan of the league.

Cane's Sanguinetti Activated From IR

News: Bobby Sanguinetti (upper body) was activated from IR Tuesday, the Cane's official site reports.
Analysis: Bobby Sanguinetti has a goal and three assists in 24 games for the Hurricanes so far. He will once again provide depth on defense for the 'Canes, and does not have much fantasy relevance at this point aside from leagues that count hits and blocked shots.

Hurricanes' Sanguinetti Day-To-Day

News: Bobby Sanguinetti is day-to-day with an upper body injury that he sustained Thursday, the News & Observer reports.
Analysis: According to GM Jim Rutherford, Bobby Sanguinetti aggravated a previous injury Thursday. With just four points and four penalty minutes in 24 games to date though, Sanguinetti isn't much of a option in fantasy formats that don't factor in his hits (39) and blocked shots (29).

Hurricanes' Sanguinetti Scores First NHL Goal

News: Bobby Sanguinetti scored his first career NHL goal, a game-winner to boot, against the Islanders on Sunday.
Analysis: Bobby Sanguinetti is a defenseman getting more playing time due to injuries on Carolina's blue line. He's not a fantasy option at this point in his career.

Carolina's Sanguinetti Makes NHL Roster

Carolina's Sanguinetti Could Make NHL Roster

News: Bobby Sanguinetti could begin the season on the NHL roster after a strong showing in the AHL. "He's had an exceptional first half," head coach Kirk Muller told the Raleigh News & Observer. "He's the type of player we're looking for back there, moving the puck, he's a smart player. He's finally healthy and he looks more confident than before."
Analysis: Bobby Sanguinetti had six goals and 15 assists in 36 games with the Charlotte Checkers in the AHL. He skated with Ryan Murphy in a defensmen pairing in Tuesday's scrimmage.

Hurricanes Sign Sanguinetti

News: Bobby Sanguinetti was signed to a one-year contract by the Hurricanes on Monday, according to the team's official site.
Analysis: Bobby Sanguinetti was drafted 21st overall in the 2006 draft by the Rangers. He tallied 50 points for the Charlotte Checkers last season, which was good for third in the AHL among defenseman. Sanguinetti also made his NHL debut last March, appearing in three games for the Canes without recording a point.

Panthers Send Sangeunetti To AHL

News: Bobby Sanguinetti was assigned to AHL Charlotte on Friday, Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News & Observer reports.
Analysis: Bobby Sanguinetti, who was just recalled Monday, has put up impressive numbers in the AHL this season, but only has seven career NHL games under his belt (no points). He'll remain in Charlotte for now, but he may get a chance with the big-league club later this season.

Sanguinetti Recalled By Hurricanes

News: Bobby Sanguinetti has been recalled from AHL Charlotte, Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News & Observer reports.
Analysis: Bobby Sanguinetti, who has racked up 35 points in 49 AHL games to date, has some offensive upside, but it remains to be seen how heavily he is utilized by Carolina out of the gate.

Canes' Sanguinetti Earns Performance Of The Month Award

News: Bobby Sanguinetti earned the AHL Performance of the Month award for december, the Charlotte Checkers website reports.
Analysis: Bobby Sanguinetti, after missing 10 games with a broken foot, tallied five assists in seven games during the month of December to earn the award. In his four AHL campaigns, the defenseman has racked up a total of 114 points in 210 games. If he can continue to stay healthy, the Trenton, N.J., native may earn a late-season call-up.

Hurricanes' Sanguinetti Leaves Hip Injury In The Past

News: Bobby Sanguinetti, who required hip surgery last November to repair a torn labrum only to return to AHL Charlotte in March feeling less than 100 percent, is participating in informal skates in Raleigh with an apparent clean bill of health, the Raleigh News & Observer reports.
Analysis: Originally drafted by the Rangers with the 21st overall pick in 2006, Bobby Sanguinetti is a deft passer with a complementary cannon for a shot from the blue line. He earned a one-year, two-way contract with the Hurricanes this summer and will compete for a roster spot out of training camp. Still, it wouldn't be a total surprise to see Sanguinetti start out in the minors given that last season he was limited to 31 games in his first tour with AHL Charlotte, the team's minor league affiliate.

Sanguinetti Agrees to One-Year, Two-Way Deal with Hurricanes

News: Sanguinetti agreed to a one-year, two-way contract with the Hurricanes on Friday, the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Sanguinetti missed the better part of last season with a hip injury, but we suspect Carolina brass took into account his obvious upside as an offensive-minded defender before deciding to go through with this new deal. Sanguinetti produced 15 points (3 G, 12 A) in 31 games for AHL Charlotte last season, and the "two-way" inclusion of his contract means he could be destined for more time in the minors this season. However, outside of Joni Pitkanen and newcomer Tomas Kaberle, both veterans, the Hurricanes do not have very many playmaking rearguards up in the NHL. At the very least, the presence of Sanguinetti gives the team more options on the blue line for 2011-12.

Canes' Minor League Player Sanguinetti Might Need Hip Surgery

News: Sanguinetti, who had been playing for the Charlotte Checkers, a minor league affiliate of the Hurricanes, may require hip surgery that could keep him out for "an extended period of time," Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News & Observer reports.
Analysis: Sanguinetti appeared in five games with the Rangers last season, but failed to dent the score sheet at the big-league level. Health permitting, it will likely be another couple of years before he becomes a common topic in fantasy circles.

Sanguinetti traded to Carolina

News: The Carolina Hurricanes picked up two former first-round draft picks in separate trades Saturday during the second day of the NHL Draft. Carolina acquired defenseman Bobby Sanguinetti from the New York Rangers for two picks after obtaining center Riley Nash from Edmonton for another selection.
Analysis: Sanguinetti, the Rangers' first-round pick in 2006, had four penalty minutes in five games with New York. The 22-year-old defenseman had nine goals and 29 assists in 61 games with Hartford of the AHL. Sanguinetti is a very good offensive prospect, but he never found comfort in the defensive end for New York to trust him on a full-time basis in the NHL. Perhaps the Hurricanes can find a home for him in 2010-11. If Sanguinetti makes the Carolina roster, then he can be considered a rookie sleeper in deeper Fantasy formats.

Sanguinetti back with Rangers

News: The Rangers announced on Wednesday that they recalled defenseman Bobby Sanguinetti from Hartford of the AHL. Sanguinetti was with New York in late November, but he had no points in three games.
Analysis: The 21-year-old Sanguinetti has six goals and 17 assists in 27 games for Hartford. He is really a promising prospect and coming along in his development. But it will be interesting to see how long he lasts this time with the Rangers. Sanguinetti is more of a long-term Fantasy keeper until further notice.

Sanguinetti makes NHL debut

News: Rangers D Bobby Sanguinetti made his NHL debut on Friday against the Lightning. Sanguinetti was filling in for the injured Wade Redden, who is out 5-7 days with a shoulder injury. Sanguinetti, who was recalled from Hartford of the AHL on Thursday, had no points in 16:41 of ice time and finished at minus-1. He took one shot on net.
Analysis: Sanguinetti was leading AHL defensemen with 22 points (six goals) in 21 games before his recall. The Rangers have never been disappointed with Sanguinetti's offense. But he has been a defensive liability and that is why New York has been hesitant to bring him up on a full-time basis. With Redden out, Sanguinetti gets a chance to showcase his skills. But unless he really wows, he is likely headed back to the minors. The 2006 first-round pick remains a long-term Fantasy keeper until further notice.

Sanguinetti sent back to AHL

News: The Rangers have assigned D Bobby Sanguinetti back to Hartford of the AHL. Sanguinetti was called up on an emergency basis for Sunday's game in Ottawa, but he wasn't needed.
Analysis: Sanguinetti, 20, has three goals and 20 points in 39 games this season and recently was named to the AHL All-Star Game. He is a developing defender and could make his debut at some point in 2008-09. But with all the money the Rangers have on their blue line, there just isn't regular PT for the 2006 first-rounder. Sanguinetti remains more of a long-term Fantasy keeper at this time.

Sanguinetti recalled on emergency basis

News: The Sports Xchange reports D Bobby Sanguinetti, a New Jersey native who was the Rangers' first-round pick in 2006, was recalled from AHL Hartford on an emergency basis Saturday. He joined the team in Ottawa but did not make his NHL debut because D Michal Rozsival (facial stitches) and D Paul Mara (sore wrist) remained in the lineup.

He is a developing defender and could make his debut at some point in 2008-09. But with all the money the Rangers have on their blue line, there just isn't regular PT for the 2006 first-rounder. Sanguinetti steady for Hartford (AHL)

News: Rangers D prospect Bobby Sanguinetti has one goal and four assists in eight December games for Hartford of the AHL. He had eight points in 12 November games after getting four points in nine October games.
Analysis: Sanguinetti was the Rangers' first-round pick in 2006. He still has little pro experience under his belt, but is finally starting to develop at Hartford. Sanguinetti could make his debut at some point in 2008-09, but remains more of a long-term Fantasy keeper at this time.

Sanguinetti heating up for Hartford

News: Rangers D prospect Bobby Sanguinetti is finally starting to hit his stride for Hartford of the AHL. After getting just one point -- an assist -- in his first four games, he now has two goals and six assists in his last 10 games.
Analysis: Sanguinetti was the Rangers' first-round pick in 2006. He spent most of last season in junior hockey and has just 25 games under his belt as a pro, with no time in the NHL. Sanguinetti could make his debut at some point in 2008-09, but remains more of a long-term Fantasy keeper at this time. Sanguinetti has some solid offensive skills along the blue line.

News: Rangers defenseman Bobby Sanguinetti has begun the 2008-09 season with Hartford of the AHL. He has one point -- an assist -- in four games and two penalty minutes.

Rangers could use four in rotation

News: The Sports Xchange reports their annual free agency frenzy over, the Rangers are pretty well set from a roster perspective with their season-opening pair of games against Tampa Bay in Prague now less than three months away. However, a couple of questions remain -- one great and one small. The small one: Who will be the seventh defenseman? While Thomas Pock's name might be the most recognizable among the candidates, his salary and the requirement that he pass through waivers to go to or from the minors makes him the least likely to get the job. So figure instead on a rotation of youngsters such as Bobby Sanguinetti, Corey Potter and Michael Sauer.
Analysis: The Rangers rely more on their forwards to get the scoring done than their defenseman. They rather have them play solid defense in front of goalie Henrik Lundqvist. Regardless, they signed Wade Redden in the offseason to boost their blue line scoring. If Pock, Sanguinetti, Potter and Sauer are going to share time in the NHL this season, then they shouldn't be owned in Fantasy leagues.
