Jackets' Foligno Grabs Two More Points

News: Nick Foligno picked up two assists and went plus-3 in Tuesday's win over the Capitals.
Analysis: Fresh off his two-point All-Star Game performance, Nick Foligno kept things going. He'd been cool heading into the break, with just a single point in his prior four games, but Foligno's rise to power continues nonetheless. With 44 points, he's just three shy of his career high now.

Jackets' Foligno: Streak At Seven Games, 10 Points

News: Nick Foligno's point streak stands at seven games and 10 points, including eight assists, after he scored his 18th goal of the season in Saturday's loss to the Islanders.
Analysis: He has 40 points in just 39 games this season. There's a chance this level of play might be real -- he is just 27, after all. And that's when a lot of players used to break out. But the NHL is a changed place and we're not entirely sure he fits the profile of a true point-per-game guy. Bottom line? Keeper owners may want to leverage his value in a deadline deal. There are some things you want to hold onto there are others you don't want to get stuck with. There's a chance he's the latter.

Jackets' Foligno Nets Assist Trio

News: Nick Foligno handed out a hat trick's worth of assists -- one on the power play -- and went plus-2 in Tuesday's win over the Stars.
Analysis: He now has points in five consecutive games, with a goal and seven assists to show for that span. The amazing breakout continues -- he's just one point short of last year's 39, but this time he's done it in 38 games instead of 70.

Jackets' Foligno Helps On Two

News: Nick Foligno added a pair of assists in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Avalanche.
Analysis: Nick Foligno has points in four straight and has 35 through 36 games on the season. The 27-year-old is well on his way to breaking his old career-high in both goals (18) and points (47), and is currently on pace to surpass 70 points by the end of the season.

Columbus' Foligno Begins Points Streak

News: Nick Foligno notched an assist in a 3-1 win over Minnesota on Wednesday.
Analysis: Nick Foligno paid instant dividends after the team signed him to a six-year extension worth $5.5 million per year. The assist now gives Foligno two points in his past two games and five points in his past five games. The 27-year-old is enjoying a breakout season in Columbus with 32 points in 34 games. He's well on his way to shatter his career-high of 47 points and his 17 goals ranks eighth in the league. He should be owned in all formats and a salute to clever owners who took a late-round gamble on the former 28th overall pick.

Jackets' Sign Foligno To Extension

News: Nick Foligno signed a six-year contract extension with the Blue Jackets on Wednesday.
Analysis: Nick Foligno was set to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason, but his new deal will lock him up through the 2020-21 campaign. He's been having a spectacular season so far, and is on pace for career-highs in both goals and assists. The 27-year-old has been both a force on the power play, and one of the fantasy surprises of 2014-15.

Jackets' Foligno Notches PP Goal

News: Nick Foligno tallied his ninth power-play goal of the season in Saturday's 6-2 victory over the Bruins.
Analysis: Nick Foligno has been a terror on the man advantage all season, tallying 17 of his 31 points when the Jackets have an extra skater. The recent returns from injury of Brandon Dubinsky and most recently, Scott Hartnell resulted in Foligno getting pushed down to the third line to start Saturday's game, but he still saw over 20 minutes of ice time. No matter who he lines up with, Foligno remains rosterable in any format until he notices a prolonged slump in what has been a dream season to this point.

Foligno Racks Up Three Points For Jackets

News: Nick Foligno scored two goals -- one on a power play -- and added a power-play assist in Thursday's 5-4 overtime loss to Washington.
Analysis: On the dark side of things, he went minus-1 and lost eight out of nine faceoffs. But hey, it's a three-point night, so let's not nitpick too much -- especially now that Nick Foligno's officially a point-per-game man, with 30 in 30.

Jackets' Foligno Notches OT Winner

News: Nick Foligno scored the Jackets' first goal and then found net on an overtime power play to deliver a 3-2 win over Washington on Thursday.
Analysis: Another fine effort by Nick Foligno, who continues to own nearly a point-per-game pace despite his somewhat on-again, off-again scoring over the last few weeks. His 26 points are just one short of Ryan Johansen's team-leading 27, and he's on pace to blow past his personal records in basically every category here in his age-27 campaign.

Jackets' Foligno Nabs Goal No. 11

News: Nick Foligno potted his 11th goal of the season in Thursday's shootout win over the Panthers.
Analysis: Nick Foligno also chipped in seven hits defensively, making for a solid all-around performance for the winger, who has probably been the Jackets' best offensive threat outside of Ryan Johansen this season. The 27-year-old has seen his production taper off slightly in the last three weeks, but he's still picking up points with enough regularity to remain worthy of rostering in most formats.

Jackets' Foligno Continues Remarkable Season

News: Nick Foligno bagged his 10th goal of the season and added an assist in Friday's shootout loss to Boston.
Analysis: After being held off the scoresheet in the last two games, it didn't take long for Nick Foligno to get back on track. The 27-year-old now has 20 points in 18 games, to go with a tidy plus-4 rating. A known 40-point guy producing at a point-per-game pace in 2014-15? This can't be real life, can it? Foligno is thriving on the top line and doesn't appear to be slowing down. He won't keep producing at this torrid pace, but he should post career totals. Ride him while he's hot.

Columbus' Foligno: Hand Feeling Fine

News: Nick Foligno's hand is reportedly fine after he appeared to injure it during a fight late in Tuesday's loss to the Red Wings, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Nick Foligno headed to the locker room about midway through the third period and didn't return, but it sounds like the Blue Jackets were just holding him out for precautionary purposes since the game had already devolved into a blowout. The winger did require some dental work after the game, but it shouldn't impact his availability for the Jackets' next game Friday versus the Bruins.

Jackets' Foligno Leaves With Possible Hand Injury

News: Nick Foligno headed to the locker room after hurting his hand following a third-period fight with Brendan Smith in Tuesday's 5-0 loss to the Red Wings, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: It was a rather pointless fight with the Blue Jackets trailing 4-0 at the time, and the team can only hope Nick Foligno didn't pay a major price for his misdeeds. He may have just been held out for the remainder of the contest as a precaution since the outcome was already decided, but expect further information on his condition to become available following Wednesday's practice. Foligno has supplied an astounding nine goals and nine assists over 17 contests this season, so a potential absence could prove costly to the Blue Jackets.

Jackets' Foligno Punishes Flyers With Two Goals

News: Nick Foligno scored twice and added an assist in Friday's win over Philadelphia.
Analysis: Nick Foligno continues to be one of the biggest surprises this season, recording nine goals and 18 points in 15 games thus far. Playing on the top line and top power-play unit with Ryan Johansen, Foligno has notched five power-play goals this season -- tied for tops in the NHL. Considering the 27-year-old only managed 39 points in 70 games last season, what he has accomplished so far in 2014-15 is simply remarkable. Who saw an offensive breakout coming for Foligno in his eighth NHL season? He will slow down, but still expect him to post career numbers.

Jackets' Foligno Pockets Two More Points Saturday

News: Nick Foligno scored a goal and an assist, both on the power play, in Saturday's 7-4 loss to the Lightning.
Analysis: He now has three multi-point games in his last four, and 15 points (seven goals, eight assists) in 13 games on the year. Nick Foligno has been one of the few bright spots on an almost comically-undermanned Blue Jackets roster that has been crippled by injuries, but as long as he continues to see top-six ice time Foligno's capable of staying hot.

Foligno Carries Jackets' Offense In Loss

News: Nick Foligno was the only Blue Jacket able to penetrate Cam Ward in Tuesday's loss to Carolina, scoring two goals (one on the power play) on four shots.
Analysis: After opening the season on a six-game point streak, he went scoreless over a three-game stretch, but has bounced back with consecutive multi-point efforts. The fifth and sixth goals of the year for Nick Foligno push his point total to 13 in just 11 contests -- a stunning early-season breakout for a guy who's only exceeded 40 points one time in seven NHL seasons.

Jackets' Foligno: Escapes Injury, Gets Two Points

News: Nick Foligno scored a goal and added an assist in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Devils. He now has 11 points, including four goals, in his last 10 games.
Analysis: He had a scare in the second period when he was hit in the face with a puck. He went to the dressing room for evaluation but was able to return in the third period. Right now he's on a pace that would outstrip his career numbers by a huge margin. Take advantage -- regression to the mean will occur soon.

Jackets' Foligno To Play Friday

News: Nick Foligno (neck) will return to the lineup Friday against the Maple Leafs, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Nick Foligno was a full participant in line rushes during the Blue Jackets' morning skate, confirming his return to the lineup later in the evening. The winger missed just one game after he was stretched off the ice Sunday against the Kings, escaping with just a minor stinger. With a multitude of key forwards still on Columbus' injured reserve list, Foligno will be counted on as a major force offensively now that he's back healthy.

Blue Jackets' Foligno Practices Thursday

News: Nick Foligno (neck) took part in Thursday's practice, Shawn Mitchell of The Columbus Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Nick Foligno sat out the Blue Jackets' last game Tuesday, but his participation in Thursday's practice session bodes well for his chances of playing Friday. The Blue Jackets could certainly use him with six forwards out with injuries.

Jackets' Foligno Questionable For Friday

News: Nick Foligno (neck) is considered questionable for Friday's game against the Maple Leafs, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: The Blue Jackets have been absolutely gutted by injuries so far this season, but it doesn't sound like the team is worried about having to add Nick Foligno to their ever-growing IR list. Foligno, who didn't play Tuesday night after he was stretchered off the ice in Sunday's contest, is being listed as day-to-day, and could attempt to practice Thursday. The team should have more to say about his condition following Thursday's session.

Blue Jackets' Foligno To Sit Tuesday

News: Nick Foligno (neck) will miss Tuesday's game against the Senators, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: After sitting out the team's morning skate, Nick Foligno predictably wasn't on the ice for pregame warmups, verifying his status as a scratch Tuesday. The winger fortunately appears to have avoided a serious neck injury after he was stretched off the ice Sunday, but his status for the team's back-to-back with Toronto and New Jersey over the weekend remains in peril.

Blue Jackets' Foligno Sits Out Morning Skate

News: Nick Foligno (neck) did not take part in Tuesday's morning skate.
Analysis: Nick Foligno is considered day-to-day with a sore neck, but his absence Tuesday morning hints at him sitting out Tuesday's game against the Senators. Expect an update on Foligno's status when the Blue Jackets make a final call on his availability for Tuesday's game.

Jackets' Foligno Could Play Tuesday

News: Nick Foligno (neck) is hoping to be cleared for Tuesday's game against the Senators, Shawn Mitchell of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Nick Foligno left Sunday's game against the Kings on a stretcher after a scary collision with a linesman along the boards, but apparently the injury isn't as serious as it appeared. Foligno described the injury as a "stinger," and said the exit on a stretcher was just precautionary. Even if he's not cleared in time for Tuesday's contest with the Sens, it's still excellent news that his injury isn't serious.

Blue Jackets' Foligno Leaves On Stetcher

News: Nick Foligno was forced to exit Sunday's game against the Kings on a stretcher, The Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Nick Foligno went down after unfortunately hitting the crown of his helmet on the linesman's hip while falling down Sunday. The incident left Foligno face-down for quite some time, until a stretcher brought him off the ice. In an encouraging development, Foligno was reportedly alert and able to speak with medical personnel once exiting Sunday's game. Nonetheless, his condition moving forward is unclear at the moment. The 26-year-old had been enjoying a wildly productive season prior to suffering the injury, totaling nine points and a plus-4 rating in the Jackets' first eight games.

Jackets' Foligno Stays Red-Hot

News: Nick Foligno pushed his season-opening point streak to six games Thursday, notching a goal, an assist, a plus-2 and three PIM in a win over the Sharks.
Analysis: Both of his points were big ones -- Nick Foligno's assist on Ryan Johansen's first goal started the first of two comebacks for the Jackets, and his power-play tally tied the game in the latter half of the third period. It looks like he's really turned a corner here at the start of the season, but it seems unlikely that Foligno, whose career high is 47 points, can maintain anything resembling his current pace.
