Sabres Sticking With Hot Neuvirth For Saturday

News: Michal Neuvirth will be between the pipes for Saturday's game against the Panthers.
Analysis: Michal Neuvirth enters the crease Saturday looking to build on his first winning streak of the season, as he's captured back-to-back victories over the Blue Jackets and Canucks. Wins haven't come easy for any Sabres goalie the past two seasons, but Neuvirth has at least done a commendable job of keeping the team competitive since assuming the No. 1 gig in the wake of Jhonas Enroth's trade to the Stars. He's posted a .942 save percentage over eight starts in February and looks like he might be a reasonable fantasy option against a Panthers squad that ranks 25th in goals per game.

Sabres' Neuvirth Starts First Winning Streak

News: Michal Neuvirth stopped 28 of 31 shots Thursday against Vancouver, winning consecutive games for the first time in the 2014-15 season.
Analysis: Yep, you read that right. Nearly five months (and 26 starts) into the season, Michal Neuvirth's finally got his first two-game winning streak. He's actually been one of fantasy's better netminders in the month of February, with a save mark over .940, but there's always the risk of sudden and painful collapses when you're in net for this Sabres team.

Sabres Roll With Neuvirth

News: Michal Neuvirth is slated to start Thursday's game against Vancouver, the Buffalo News reports.
Analysis: Michal Neuvirth, who has been stopping plenty of pucks of late for the Sabres, will have his work cut out for him Thursday while going up against a Vancouver squad that has won two straight games and four of five contests overall.

Sabres' Neuvirth Fined For Diving

News: Michal Neuvirth was fined $2,000 for embellishing a hit against Nashville, reports the CBC.
Analysis: Well, this is a first. Michal Neuvirth becomes the first goalie to be fined under the NHL's new embellishment rules. The league ruled that Neuvirth embellished a bump from Nashville's Mike Santorelli, which resulted in an interference penalty and a power play opportunity for the Sabres. Neuvirth was fined because this was his second instance of diving, the first coming against the Leafs on Nov. 15, for which Neuvirth was given a warning. Neuvirth has been excellent for the Sabres of late and this fine shouldn't change anything on the ice.

Neuvirth's 45 Saves Lead Sabres Past Jackets

News: Michal Neuvirth stopped 45 of 47 on Tuesday, leading the way to a 4-2 win over the Blue Jackets.
Analysis: His team got outshot by 16, but Michal Neuvirth outplayed opposing minder Anton Forsberg to deliver the win. He's now delivered save marks of .930 or better in six consecutive starts, which is enough for a "hot" label even though he's won just twice in that span.

Sabres Turn To Neuvirth On Tuesday

News: Michal Neuvirth will start Tuesday's game against the Blue Jackets.
Analysis: Michal Neuvirth (4-16-3) has allowed nine goals over his last five games, but wins have been tough to come by while playing behind the Sabres. He'll face a Blue Jackets squad Tuesday that has dropped consecutive decisions (to the Canadiens and Rangers).

Sabres' Neuvirth Sharp In Loss

News: Michal Neuvirth turned aside 37 of 38 shots, but allowed two goals in the shootout in Sunday's 2-1 loss to the Predators.
Analysis: Michal Neuvirth has actually been playing well lately, but was dealt another tough luck loss -- his 13th in his last 14 starts -- as the offense in front of him once again failed to muster many offensive opportunities. His .917 save percentage isn't bad, but the 2.99 GAA and 4-16-3 record that go along with the lack of help in front of him significant diminishes the 26-year-old's fantasy value.

Neuvirth Starting In Goal For Sabres Sunday

News: Michal Neuvirth will start in goal for the Sabres Sunday against Nashville.
Analysis: This will be Michal Neuvirth's fifth straight start, but playing the sixth highest scoring team in the NHL could spell trouble given how hapless the Sabres are throughout. Any chance at a win for Neuvirth is going to be a longshot.

Sabres' Neuvirth Makes 40 Saves In Loss

News: Michal Neuvirth stopped 40 of 43 shots in Friday's loss to the Rangers.
Analysis: A great outing from Michal Neuvirth, who failed to get much offensive support from the Sabres in the loss. It was the 26-year-old's 12th loss in 13 games, dropping his record to 4-16-2 on the season. His .914 save percentage is good, but the Sabres are just so bad that Neuvirth won't pick up many victories. He's the go-to-guy in Buffalo now though, so if you need games played, Neuvirth should be in the crease almost every night Buffalo plays.

Sabres Turn To Neuvirth Again Friday

News: Michal Neuvirth will start in goal Friday against the Rangers.
Analysis: Despite Friday being the second game of a back-to-back set for the Sabres, coach Mike Nolan has decided to turn to Michal Neuvirth in both contests. He withstood a barrage of shots Thursday, stopping 36 of the 38 shots he faced. He is now on a stretch of four straight contests of a .900 save percentage or better, and three straight with .933 or better, but is just 1-2-1 in the last four contests.

Neuvirth Saves 36, Sabres Defeat Flyers

News: Michal Neuvirth made 36 saves in a 3-2 shootout win over Philadelphia on Thursday.
Analysis: The Sabres traded Jhonas Enroth and wanted to see what Michal Neuvirth can do, and so far he's been impressive. Neuvirth has allowed just five goals in his past three starts, three of them on even strength. He's faced 30 or more shots in three consecutive starts but his lowest save percentage in that span is .933. A game plan that was supposed to feature Anders Lindback in his Sabres debut was scrapped in favor of Neuvirth, who clearly has a hot hand right now.

Sabres Go With Neuvirth On Thursday

News: Michal Neuvirth will start Thursday's game against the Flyers.
Analysis: Michal Neuvirth, who fell to New Jersey in a 2-1 shootout loss on Tuesday despite making 34 saves, is 0-10-1 since earning his last win back on Nov. 15, though on the plus side, he does own a .927 save percentage over his last six starts. Anders Lindback, who was looking to make his Sabres debut, will have to wait a little longer as head coach Ted Nolan elects to stick with Neuvirth, whose individual play recently has been quite good. Neuvirth is a risky start but is a decent bet to provide fantasy owners with a good save percentage due to the volume of shots he faces.

Neuvirth, Sabres Take Shootout Loss

News: Michal Neuvirth stopped 34 of 35 shots Tuesday, but allowed goals on both New Jersey shootout attempts to take a 2-1 loss.
Analysis: On the bright side, that ends a streak of 10 straight regulation losses for Michal Neuvirth. Of course, he's still dropped 11 decisions in a row. He's been putting up solid ratios lately, but his lack of wins and the volatile Buffalo defense mean he can't be trusted in most fantasy formats.

Sabres Confirm Neuvirth For Tuesday

News: Michal Neuvirth has been confirmed as the starter in goal for Tuesday's game against the Devils.
Analysis: Michal Neuvirth enters Tuesday's match riding a 10-game losing streak. While he normally wouldn't be an enticing fantasy option, Neuvirth should have a decent chance at breaking the slump against a weak Devils attack that has dropped four straight games while tallying only five goals. He might be worth streaming in deep leagues Tuesday, but shouldn't be trusted beyond that.

Sabres Expected To Turn To Neuvirth On Tuesday

News: Michal Neuvirth is expected to start Tuesday's game against New Jersey, Paul Hamilton of WGR 550 reports.
Analysis: While New Jersey has lost four straight games, Michal Neuvirth's last win came on November 15, and he has dropped 10 straight decisions since then for the last place Sabres.

Sabres' Neuvirth Dealt 10th Straight Loss

News: Michal Neuvirth allowed two goals on 30 shots in Sunday's 2-1 loss to the Flyers.
Analysis: It wasn't a bad outing for Michal Neuvirth, but he was still dealt his 10th consecutive loss--all in regulation--nonetheless. With the trade of Jhonas Enroth, Neuvirth will be in line for the bulk of the starts, but his 3-15-1 record, 3.29 GAA, and .908 save percentage mostly cancel out any value increase he receives from being the No. 1 option for Buffalo.

Sabres' Neuvirth Starting Sunday

News: Michal Neuvirth will start in net Sunday versus the Flyers, Joe Yerdon of NHL.com reports.
Analysis: Michal Neuvirth, whose last appearance came on Feb. 8, will look to snap a nine-start losing streak against a Philadelphia team that ranks 18th in the league in goals per game (2.7). While Neuvirth should be in line to serve as the No. 1 goalie going forward, his value is negatively impacted by Buffalo's shaky defense, which has contributed to his 3-14-1 record with a 3.37 GAA this season.

Neuvirth The New No. 1 Goalie For Buffalo

News: Following Wednesday's trade of Jhonas Enroth to the Stars, Michal Neuvirth is in line to serve as the Sabres' No. 1 goalie the rest of the season, Paul Hamilton of WGR 550 reports.
Analysis: The Sabres received goalie Anders Lindback from the Stars in the trade, but he's already passed through waivers unclaimed this season and isn't expected to pose much of a threat to Michal Neuvirth's job security. General manager Tim Murray more or less said after the trade that it gives the Sabres the first real opportunity to see what they have with Neuvirth, who has only appeared in 21 games with the team since he was acquired from the Capitals last March. While the promise of additional starts has Neuvirth's value on the rise, don't expect him to deliver useful results, as the Sabres are beginning to run away with the league's worst record and aren't showing any signs of improvement. He's turned in a 3-14-1 record and 3.37 GAA so far this season.

Sabres' Neuvirth Starts Sunday

News: Michal Neuvirth will start in net Sunday against the Islanders on Sunday.
Analysis: Michal Neuvirth will receive the start for the Sabres in game two of a back-to-back set. It remains to be seen if he shows any signs of rust, as the 26-year-old netminder hasn't started a game since Jan. 17. Neuvirth will be thrown to the lions Sunday, however, as the Sabres match up against the high-powered Islanders, who are fourth in the league in scoring at 3.02 goals per game.

Sabres' Nuevirth Makes 28 Saves In Loss

News: Michal Neuvirth made 28 saves on 31 shots in Sunday's loss to the Islanders.
Analysis: Michal Neuvirth actually played pretty well considering the Sabres only had 10 shots on goal. While the 26-year-old gave Buffalo a chance, he incurred his ninth straight loss. Considering Neuvirth's given up 10 goals in his last three outings, the team is likely to return to starter Jhonas Enroth in the crease. If another back-to-back situation for Buffalo presents itself, we can't say grabbing Neuvirth for a spot start is a great idea, as he's managed just three wins in 19 appearances.

Sabres' Neuvirth Returns To Backup Duty

News: Michal Neuvirth (lower body) took part in the Sabres' morning skate and will serve as the backup behind Jhonas Enroth during Thursday's game against the Blues, Paul Hamilton of WGR Sports Radio 550 reports.
Analysis: The demotion of Matt Hackett to AHL Rochester on Wednesday suggests Michal Neuvirth is over the lower-body injury that bothered him coming out of the All-Star break. Neuvirth finds himself behind Enroth on the depth chart for the moment, but with the Sabres just concluding a 14-game losing streak, coach Ted Nolan is hardly married to either of his goaltenders at this time. Both Enroth and Neuvirth should receive plenty of work in the weeks to come as the Sabres pray that they'll eventually stumble into a hot goalie.

Sabres' Neuvirth Sidelined

News: Michal Neuvirth is dealing with a lower-body injury, the Sabres' official site reports.
Analysis: Michal Neuvirth suffered his injury "while working out during the All-Star break and will miss some time," GM Tim Murray relayed Monday. "He will not join the team for our trip out west this week," Murray added. With Neuvirth ailing, the Sabres have recalled fellow goalie Matt Hackett.

Sabres' Neuvirth Takes Another Loss

News: Michal Neuvirth stopped 28 of 32 shots Saturday against the Flyers, as the Sabres took their 10th consecutive regulation loss.
Analysis: Michal Neuvirth hasn't won a game since Nov. 15, taking a loss in each of his last eight turns. He's posted some useful save totals in a couple of those outings, but beyond that, the lack of victories and horrid ratios he provides make him toxic for fantasy purposes.

Sabres' Neuvirth Confirmed To Start

News: Michal Neuvirth will be in the crease Saturday against the Flyers, Bill Hoppe of the Olean Times Herald reports.
Analysis: Unsurprisingly, coach Ted Nolan will hand the net over to Michal Neuvirth after Jhonas Enroth was whipped for seven goals on 37 shots in Thursday's embarrassing loss to the Wild. Neuvirth has begun to whittle into Enroth's workload of that to turn the Sabres' netminding situation into a true timeshare, but that won't give him much fantasy value. With a 3-12-1 record, 3.34 GAA and .909 save percentage over his 17 appearances this season, Neuvirth has done more harm than good for fantasy owners who have had to resort to using him.

Neuvirth, Sabres Sent To Another Loss

News: Michal Neuvirth gave up three goals on 30 shots in Tuesday's loss to the Red Wings.
Analysis: Opposing Czech netminder Petr Mrazek did more credit to the legacy of Dominik Hasek, whose number was retired by the Sabres on Tuesday, than Michal Neuvirth did. It's his seventh loss in a row, a span in which he's been tagged for 25 goals.
