Jets' Pavelec In Net Sunday

News: Ondrej Pavelec will start between the pipes against the Blues on Sunday, Brian Munz of TSN reports.
Analysis: Ondrej Pavelec continues to see nearly all of the starts in net for the Jets despite allowing four goals on 27 shots Thursday against the Red Wings. He enters Sunday's matchup with a 7-7-2 record with a .919 save percentage and 2.25 GAA over 18 games.

Pavelec Allows Four As Jets Lose

News: Ondrej Pavelec gave up four goals on 27 shots and blew a third-period lead in Thursday's loss to the Red Wings.
Analysis: That's four straight losses for the Jets in games Ondrej Pavelec has started, though the Czech minder received a decision in just three of those. While he was good in those first two losses, he's been pretty rough over the last two, having been pulled in the first period against Minnesota on Tuesday before Thursday's four-goal performance.

Jets Rolling With Pavelec On Thursday

News: Ondrej Pavelec will man the net Thursday against the Red Wings, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: After being pulled early his last time out Sunday against the Wild, Ondrej Pavelec was bypassed for Tuesday's starting nod, as backup Michael Hutchinson made the turn in the 3-1 victory over the Hurricanes. Pavelec is still enjoying a stellar season in the net for the Jets with a 7-6-2 record and .923 save percentage, but Hutchinson has muddled the team's goalie situation a bit by playing well when called upon. His presence may require Pavelec to turn in a quality outing against the Red Wings to prevent a timeshare in the net from emerging.

Jets' Pavelec In Net Sunday

News: Ondrej Pavelec will start in net against the Wild on Sunday, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Ondrej Pavelec will receive the start on back-to-back days rather than turning to Michael Hutchinson on Sunday. He saved 27 of the 29 shots he faced Saturday, but took a loss. The 27-year-old now boasts a 7-6-1 record with a .928 save percentage and 1.99 GAA.

Jets' Pavelec Pulled In Loss

News: Ondrej Pavelec allowed three goals on just 11 shots before being replaced at the first intermission of Sunday's 4-3 overtime loss against the Wild.
Analysis: Ondrej Pavelec was at least spared the loss, as the Jets completed a late rally to force overtime, but that's the only positive result of this outing. Still, Pavelec has been very solid this season and can chalk Sunday's performance up to starting on consecutive days.

Jets' Pavelec Gives Up Two Goals In Loss

News: Ondrej Pavelec stopped all but two of the 29 shots he faced in Saturday's loss to Nashville.
Analysis: Although Ondrej Pavelec has given up only two goals in each of his last two starts, the 27-year-old has now lost two straight games. Don't panic, though, as Pavelec has been outstanding lately, posting a .928 save percentage and 1.99 GAA on the season. Wins are hard to come by on the Jets, but considering Pavelec starts almost every game, he is proving to be a reliable fantasy option this season.

Jets' Pavelec In Net Saturday

News: Ondrej Pavelec will start in net Saturday against the Predators, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Ondrej Pavelec allowed two goals on 26 shots in Tuesday's game against the Canadiens, ultimately receiving a loss despite the performance. He will get the start again Sunday, and will face a Predators squad averaging 2.50 G/GP.

Jets' Pavelec Delivers Solid Outing In Loss

News: Ondrej Pavelec stopped 24 of 26 shots Tuesday, but was stuck with a 3-0 loss at the hands of Carey Price and the Canadiens.
Analysis: If the Jets' offense were a little better, Ondrej Pavelec would be one of the best goalies in fantasy right now, but the team isn't even averaging two goals per game. However, unlike in past years, the Czech minder has been able to post strong rate stats even in losing efforts. He's posted a .914 save mark or better in six consecutive games, though he's just 3-1-2 in that span.

Jets To Start Pavelec On Tuesday

News: Ondrej Pavelec will be in the crease Tuesday against the Canadiens, Patrick Friolet of RDS reports.
Analysis: The sizzling Ondrej Pavelec will make his fourth straight start in goal for the Jets, after he was able to lower his season GAA to 1.98 following his 37-save effort in a 2-1 shootout win over the Senators on Saturday. The 27-year-old netminder owns a 4-8-1 record and .899 save percentage over 13 career games against the Canadiens.

Jets' Pavelec Enjoying Best Stretch of Career

News: Ondrej Pavelec has played some of the best hockey of his NHL career to start the 2014-2015 season. The veteran goaltender has appeared in 14 of 15 games and is 7-4-1 with a 1.98 goals against average and a .928 save percentage, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: The Jets seem to have discovered their team identity, something the organization has struggled with since returning to Winnipeg in 2011. The team has found success playing a rough and tumble brand of hockey. As a result, their team defense has been greatly improved, and their goaltenders have reaped the benefits between the pipes. However, Ondrej Pavelec has also noticeably tweaked his mechanics. As Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun notes, Pavelec is "playing deeper in his net than he did in the past" and "not kicking out nearly as many juicy rebounds" as well as being "far more economical in his movement in the crease". Whatever Pavelec is doing, it's working, as he has been one of the better goaltenders thus far this NHL season. Fantasy owners who rolled the dice on Pavelec in their preseason drafts may have very well rostered a diamond in the rough.

Jets' Pavelec: 37 Saves, Hot November Continues

News: Ondrej Pavelec's impressive November continued Saturday with a 37-save, 2-1 shootout win over Ottawa.
Analysis: He actually turned away all comers in the shootout, so this really was a remarkable turn between the pipes. He's a solid play right now.

Jets' Pavelec Set To Start Saturday

News: Ondrej Pavelec was the first goalie off the ice at morning skate and will receive the start in goal Saturday against the Senators, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Ondrej Pavelec is coming off a tough shootout loss to the Penguins but has been superb nonetheless to kick off November, going 2-0-1 with a .959 save percentage. He'll match up against Ottawa's Craig Anderson in a tilt between two of the NHL's more surprising goalie performers this season.

Jets Rolling With Pavelec On Thursday

News: Ondrej Pavelec will be between the pipes Thursday against the Penguins, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: With wins in four of his last five turns and a 2.00 GAA and .924 save percentage for the season, Ondrej Pavelec has been a pleasant surprise in goal for the Jets in the early going. However, his meager career ratios suggest the netminder is due for some regression eventually, and Thursday's start against the Penguins -- who lead the league in scoring with 4.09 goals per game -- could prove to be his downfall. It might be wise for fantasy owners to keep Pavelec glued to their bench Thursday.

Pavelec, Jets Fall In Shootout

News: Ondrej Pavelec stopped 32 of 35, but gave up two shootout goals to take the loss Thursday against the Penguins.
Analysis: Sure, it's a loss, but the Czech netminder can largely feel good about this game, as he held Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin off the scoresheet in regulation; unfortunately, the Pens' two superstars both got revenge by scoring on him in the shootout. Ondrej Pavelec remains without a regulation loss in his last six games (4-0-2).

Jets' Pavelec Delivers Another Win

News: Ondrej Pavelec won for the fourth time in five games Tuesday against Nashville, stopping 23 of 24 shots.
Analysis: Despite the Jets getting taken to overtime thrice in that five-game span, Ondrej Pavelec has held up in impressive fashion, giving up one or zero goals in each of the four wins. This success represents a whole new leaf for Pavelec, who's never posted rate stats remotely close to the ones he's put up early on this year. Whether he can keep it up is as much as question for the Jets' defense as it is for the 27-year-old goalie.

Jets' Pavelec Set To Start Tuesday

News: Ondrej Pavelec is lined up to start Tuesday's game against the Predators, Ken Wiebe of The Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Ondrej Pavelec was the first goalie off the ice following Tuesday's morning skate, which puts him on track to start Tuesday night. Pavelec has played well lately, going 3-0-1 and giving up just five total goals over his last four starts -- three of those overtime contests.

Jets' Pavelec Confirmed For Saturday

News: Ondrej Pavelec has been confirmed as the starter in goal Saturday against the Rangers, Ed Tait of the Winnipeg Free Press reports.
Analysis: It remains to be seen if Ondrej Pavelec will end up getting both starts of the Jets' weekend back-to-back, but he'll at least receive his eighth straight start Saturday. He's set to match up against Henrik Lundqvist, who makes the start in goal for the Rangers.

Jets' Pavelec Delivers Shutout Win

News: Ondrej Pavelec was outstanding Saturday in a 1-0 shootout win over the Rangers. He made 38 stops and was named the game's first star.
Analysis: He takes a beating from fans and media because of his inconsistency, but this effort was flat-out brilliant. And he has now won three of his last four starts, allowing just five goals in those four outings. The Jets might actually win some games if he plays this well.

Jets' Pavelec Prepared To Start Saturday

News: Ondrej Pavelec is expected to start Saturday against the Rangers, Ted Wyman of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Ondrej Pavelec was the first goalie off the ice at the Jets' morning skate and looks on track to make his eighth straight start. His .908 save percentage isn't especially impressive, but he's aided his fantasy value with a 4-4-1 record and 2.34 goals-against average across 10 outings.

Pavelec, Jets Fall In Shootout

News: Ondrej Pavelec stopped 27 of 28 shots Thursday, but allowed the only goal of the shootout to take a 2-1 loss at the hands of the Devils.
Analysis: Ondrej Pavelec remains inconsistent, but he's been sharper of late, having posted three one-goal efforts in his last five outings. It's also worth noting that the Jets aren't giving up nearly so many shot attempts as they did last year -- Pavelec has yet to face 30 shots in a game this season. Last year, he had 30-plus shots put on him 29 times in 57 starts.

Jets' Pavelec To Start Thursday

News: Ondrej Pavelec will be between the pipes for Thursday's game against the Devils, according to Tom Gulitti of The Record.
Analysis: Ondrej Pavelec will be looking for his third straight win, and fourth in five starts, Thursday night. He will face a Devils squad that has not scored more than three goals in a game since the second game of the season.

Jets' Pavelec Evens Record

News: Ondrej Pavelec held the Islanders to three goals on 21 shots in Tuesday's victory, evening his record at 4-4 in the process.
Analysis: Three of Ondrej Pavelec's wins have come in his last four starts, but he needed his offense to pick him up a bit Tuesday night. Pavelec owns mediocre ratios (2.52 GAA, .901 save percentage) and doesn't figure to will the Jets to victory most nights, but Winnipeg probably has enough talent at forward and on the blue line to make a .500 record sustainable over the course of an 82-game schedule.

Jets Going With Pavelec On Tuesday

News: Ondrej Pavelec will be in the crease Tuesday against the Islanders, Gary Lawless of the Winnipeg Free Press reports.
Analysis: Ondrej Pavelec has alternated strong performances with weak ones his last four times out, holding the Hurricanes and Avalanche to one goal in victories and surrendering four goalies apiece to the Flames and Lightning in defeats. That level of inconsistency makes him a tough to count on in daily play to deliver a steady outing against a quality Islanders squad, especially with 12 games on the docket Tuesday night.

Jets' Pavelec Strong In Win

News: Ondrej Pavelec stopped 22 shots in a 2-1 victory over the Avalanche on Sunday.
Analysis: Ondrej Pavelec was pulled in his last start after giving up four goals on just 18 shots, but bounced back with a good performance against Colorado. He's still struggled on the whole this season with a save percentage below .900, but he's now allowed just one goal in two of his last three starts.

Jets' Pavelec In Net Sunday

News: Ondrej Pavelec will start between the pipes for the Jets on Sunday, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Ondrej Pavelec was pulled from Friday's start after allowing four goals on just 18 shots. He is now 2-4-0 on the season with a .899 save percentage, 2.71 GAA on the season. While he remains the top goaltender for the Jets, Pavelec's firm grasp on the spot may continue to weaken if he doesn't start putting up better performances in net.
