Jets' Pavelec To Sit Monday

News: Ondrej Pavelec will make way for teammate Michael Hutchinson to make his NHL debut in net Monday against Minnesota, reports TSN's Darrin Bauming.
Analysis: Ondrej Pavelec and the Jets are eliminated from playoff contention. That means fantasy owners need to grab Hutchinson in deep leagues or otherwise look elsewhere, as Pavelec may not start as much to end the season.

Jets' Pavelec Quiets Leafs On Saturday

News: Ondrej Pavelec turned away 23 of 25 shots to defeat the Maple Leafs on Saturday.
Analysis: The Jets might be eliminated from playoff contention, but thanks to the work of Ondrej Pavelec and his mates, they were able to deal a crucial blow to Toronto's postseason hopes as well with the 4-2 victory. Pavelec's final line would have been even nicer had he not muffed a clearance attempt behind the with 6:15 remaining in first period. Toronto's Nazem Kadri pounced on Pavelec's misstep and scored into an empty net, but the goalie put the clamps on the Leafs thereafter.

Jets' Pavelec Will Start Versus Leafs

News: Ondrej Pavelec will be between the pipes when the Jets take on Toronto Saturday night, according to a report by Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun.
Analysis: Ondrej Pavelec's start will be his fifth straight. He may not start every game left with the Jets now out of contention for the playoffs. Fantasy owners beware, he's only won a single game in his last 10 starts dating back to March 1.

Jets' Pavelec Rocked By Pens

News: Ondrej Pavelec was tagged for four goals on 21 shots in Thursday's 4-2 loss to Pittsburgh.
Analysis: As has been the norm in his career, Ondrej Pavelec was unable to build on the quality outing he delivered his last time out, Tuesday's win in Phoenix. With this loss, Pavelec and the Jets have officially been eliminated from the playoffs. Again.

Jets Choose Pavelec For Thursday Start

News: Ondrej Pavelec will be in the crease Thursday against the Penguins, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Ondrej Pavelec has performed unevenly since returning from a lower-body injury three games ago, taking a win and two losses while allowing nine goals on 81 shots (.888 save percentage). Winnipeg is just about out of the running for a playoff spot at this point, so they'll probably need Pavelec to play his best hockey of the season to have any prayer of catching Minnesota or Dallas for the final spot out West.

Jets' Pavelec Wins For First Time In Seven Starts

News: Ondrej Pavelec stopped 28-of-29 shots in a 2-1 shootout win over the Coyotes on Tuesday.
Analysis: Ondrej Pavelec has struggled with a lower-body injury lately, so seeing him get a win down the stretch is nice for fantasy owners. The Jets would need a miracle to make the playoffs, but as long as they're alive mathematically, Pavelec will start.

Jets Turn To Pavelec On Tuesday

News: Ondrej Pavelec is slated to start Tuesday's game against the Coyotes, Gary Lawless of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Ondrej Pavelec will try to bounce back for the Jets in short order on Tuesday after surrendering five goals on 36 shots in an overtime loss to Anaheim on Monday.

Jets Turn To Pavelec On Monday

News: Ondrej Pavelec will Start Monday's game against the Ducks, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: Ondrej Pavelec, who was yanked from Saturday's loss to the Kings, will get a chance to bounce back Monday against the Ducks, with Al Montoya possibly not available Monday.

Jets' Pavelec Lets In Five In Loss

News: Ondrej Pavelec gave up five goals on 36 shots in an overtime loss to the Ducks on Monday.
Analysis: Ondrej Pavelec leads the league in losses with 25, and his GAA is up over 3.00 now. However, with Al Montoya banged up, and Winnipeg's playoff hopes all but dead, it's largely irrelevant at this point.

Jets' Pavelec Yanked Saturday Against Kings

News: Ondrej Pavelec allowed three goals on 16 shots before being pulled in Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Kings at Staples Center.
Analysis: Coach Paul Maurice replaced Ondrej Pavelec at the start of the second period with Al Montoya, who fared only slightly better in giving up one goal on 13 shots. Once considered the bona fide starter of the young Jets, Pavelec has floundered this season, posting a GAA of over three for the first time in his career (3.01) and a save percentage of .902 - his lowest since 2008-2009 when he went 3-7-0 with Atlanta. His record this season now sits at a disappointing 20-25-6 and he is a big reason why the Jets have yet again failed to make the playoffs since migrating from Atlanta.

Jets' Pavelec Will Start Saturday

News: Ondrej Pavelec (lower body) will be back in the net Saturday against the Kings, Jeff Hamilton of CBC.ca reports.
Analysis: For the first time in six games, Ondrej Pavelec will return to the crease after the Jets received dependable work from understudy Al Montoya in his stead. Pavelec faces a stiff test right off the bat with the Kings, who have won five in a row and 13 of their last 16.

Jets' Pavelec Could Be Back Saturday

News: Updating a previous report, coach Paul Maurice said Ondrej Pavelec would not play Thursday, but could be an option Saturday against the Kings, Gary Lawless of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Maurice appears content to let Ondrej Pavelec rest up for one more game, allowing Al Montoya to pick up another start in his stead. Pavelec's five-year contract gives him plenty of job security over Montoya once he's healthy, but he was struggling this season before suffering the injury. He owns a middling 2.97 GAA and .902 save percentage to accompany his 20-24-6 record.

Jets' Pavelec Could Start Thursday

News: Ondrej Pavelec (lower body) indicated he is ready to play Thursday against the Sharks if needed, Gary Lawless of the Winnipeg Free Press reports.
Analysis: Ondrej Pavelec took part in a full practice Wednesday and looks like he'll be ready to at least serve in a backup capacity Thursday night. The Jets have received respectable goalie play from Al Montoya over the last few games, which may prompt coach Paul Maurice to give Pavelec an additional night off just to aid his recovery.

Jets' Pavelec Still Out

News: Ondrej Pavelec (lower body) won't be available for Monday's game against the Stars, Tim Campbell of the Winnipeg Free Press reports.
Analysis: Ondrej Pavelec, who last suited up on March 14, remains in the day-to-day category. Meanwhile, Al Montoya continues to fill in for the Jets.

Jets' Pavelec Expected Back Next Week

News: The Jets aren't expecting Ondrej Pavelec (lower body) back in the net until at some point during next week's road trip, Paul Friesen of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Ondrej Pavelec will miss his fourth straight game Saturday as a result, and he seemingly appears doubtful for Monday's tilt with the Stars unless he makes a speedy recovery over the next two days. Backup Al Montoya has been generally reliable when called upon this season, so there's no incentive for the Jets to rush Pavelec back into the lineup at less than optimal health.

Jets' Pavelec Works Out Wednesday, Still Hurt

News: Ondrej Pavelec (lower-body) remains day-to-day, but did work out on Wednesday, according to TSN's Darrin Bauming.
Analysis: It was reported earlier this week that Ondrej Pavelec would miss at least a few more games. That means Al Montoya is in line to start against Colorado on Wednesday.

Jets' Pavelec Out Two Games (Upper Body)

News: Ondrej Pavelec (lower body) will be out at least two games, according to TSN.ca. Al Montoya will start in his place.
Analysis: Ondrej Pavelec left Friday's game after the first period and the team isn't taking any chances with him. Mind you, we're not entirely convinced the Jets want him in there any way -- they need better netminding and he'll probably be gone or rolled as the backup next season. Yes, it seems to have come to that.

Jets' Pavelec Suffers Injury

News: Ondrej Pavelec left Friday's game against the Rangers with a lower-body injury, TSN's Sara Orlesky reports.
Analysis: After allowing a pair of first-period goals, Ondrej Pavelec was replaced by Al Montoya for the start of the second period. At first, it looked like Pavelec may have been pulled for performance reasons, but the injury was announced shortly thereafter.

Jets Go With Pavelec On Friday

News: Ondrej Pavelec will be between the pipes Friday vs. the Rangers, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Ondrej Pavelec was stellar his last time out Wednesday vs. the Canucks, but took a painful shootout loss to drop his fourth straight game. The Rangers are riding their own two-game losing streak as a team, but they still possess enough offensive talent to make life difficult for Pavelec.

Jets' Pavelec Handed Shootout Loss

News: Ondrej Pavelec was sturdy between the pipes Wednesday against the Canucks, stopping 31 of 33 shots, but ultimately took a shootout loss.
Analysis: Ondrej Pavelec's losing skid is now at four games, but he can at least keep his head up high for this performance after surrendering 11 goals in his previous three contests. He saved the first two of the Canucks' shootout attempts before letting in the winning tally to Christopher Higgins.

Jets' Pavelec To Start Wednesday

News: Ondrej Pavelec will be in net against the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday, according to TSN's Rick Ralph.
Analysis: Ondrej Pavelec has played a lot of games for the Jets this year and Wednesday would be a great night to start him against the woeful Canucks. Fantasy owners might want to peg this as a nice turnaround game for the Jets, which makes it likely Pavelec will pick up a victory.

Jets' Pavelec Chased Early Saturday

News: Ondrej Pavelec let in five goals on 20 shot attempts in Saturday's loss to the Senators before he was pulled midway through the second period.
Analysis: Ondrej Pavelec's improvement over the last month was a major reason behind the team's reemergence as a playoff contender following the firing of coach Claude Noel, but he seems to have fallen back into bad habits of late. He's given up at least three goals in three straight outings, all losses.

Jets' Pavelec To Start Versus Sens

News: Ondrej Pavelec is expected to make his fifth start in a row against the Senators on Saturday, according to a report by Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun.
Analysis: Ondrej Pavelec stopped 38 shots in Thursday's loss to the Los Angeles Kings. The Jets have stumbled in the last few contests but they're still one of the hottest teams in the league since Paul Maurice became coach. Feel free to start Pavelec while he's winning.

Jets' Pavelec Stops 38 Shots In Loss

News: Ondrej Pavelec stopped 38 of 41 shots in Thursday's 3-1 loss to the Kings.
Analysis: Ondrej Pavelec was the game's first star in a contest that saw his team outshot by a 41-18 margin. Having started each of the Jets' last four games, the Czech netminder is likely due for a rest soon. While his season-long numbers -- 20-23-5, .905 save percentage, 2.90 -- aren't pretty, Pavelec still has a firm grasp on the No. 1 goalie job in Winnipeg.

Jets Starting Pavelec On Thursday

News: Ondrej Pavelec will be in the crease Thursday vs. the Kings, TSN's Rick Ralph reports.
Analysis: Ondrej Pavelec has come out of the break with three excellent showings thus far, surrendering a total of six goals on 103 shot attempts. His overall numbers (2.90 GAA, .904 save percentage) remain well below average, but fantasy owners can at least take heart of the fact that he has firm command of the No. 1 goalie job.
