Jets Rolling With Pavelec On Tuesday

News: Ondrej Pavelec will get the starting nod Tuesday versus the Hurricanes, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Ondrej Pavelec's been the recipient of some poor offensive support by his mates to saddle him with a 1-3-0 record, but his 2.61 GAA and .906 save percentage through five games aren't world-beating, by any means. Just as was predicted heading into the season, Pavelec looks like one of the league's weakest starting netminders, though he should be a fine fantasy play Tuesday against Carolina, the NHL's only winless team.

Jets' Pavelec Bounces Back

News: Ondrej Pavelec put a stop to 21 of 22 shots Tuesday in a 3-1 win over Carolina.
Analysis: He'd given up four goals in his last outing and lost three straight decisions, but Ondrej Pavelec has actually been playing pretty well to open the season. He's appeared in six games and delivered very fine work in four of them. Of course, facing the winless Hurricanes is a cure for what ails nearly any goaltender right now.

Jets' Pavelec Suffers Third Straight Loss

News: Ondrej Pavelec surrendered four goals on 29 shots for his third straight loss Sunday vs. Calgary.
Analysis: Ondrej Pavelec hasn't necessarily been as bad as the losses indicate, but the team in front of him certainly has. Pavelec is a workhorse and the clear starter in Winnipeg, but don't expect much, as the Jets aren't good enough for the goalie to put up strong win totals.

Jets Start Pavelec In Net Sunday

News: Ondrej Pavelec will start in goal for the Jets on Sunday, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Ondrej Pavelec allowed two goals on 27 shots against the Predators on Sunday, leaving him with a 1-2 record while sporting a .919 save percentage and a 2.22 GAA. He will look to even up his record Sunday against the high-powered Ducks.

Pavelec Beaten Twice As Jets Fall

News: Ondrej Pavelec surrendered two goals on 27 shots as the Jets fell to the Predators on Friday, 2-0.
Analysis: All things considered, it was a pretty good outing for Ondrej Pavelec, but unfortunately, his offense couldn't put anything past opposing netminder Pekka Rinne. Even the goals that Pavelec allowed were mostly a product of bad luck, as both came on redirected shots that ended up finding the net.

Jets' Pavelec To Get Nod Friday

News: Ondrej Pavelec will be between the pipes Friday against the Predators, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Ondrej Pavelec has been steady in three appearances (two starts) for the Jets thus far, going 1-1-0 while saving 66 of 72 shot attempts (.917 save percentage). His mediocre career track record suggests his current level of play isn't sustainable, however, so there's strong odds his production declines from here. That being said, his standing as the team's No. 1 goalie doesn't appear to be in jeopardy, given backup Michael Hutchinson's immense struggles during the preseason and in his first start last weekend.

Jets' Pavelec Excels In Relief

News: Ondrej Pavelec stopped 17 of 18 shots in Sunday's loss to the Kings after coming on in relief of Michael Hutchinson.
Analysis: Ondrej Pavelec was set to receive the evening off after he took a loss to the Sharks on Saturday. He only saved 23 of 26 shots in that defeat to San Jose, but was able to salvage his weekend with a strong showing against the Kings in his 37:55 of action. Pavelec's hold on the starting job looked a bit tenuous heading into training camp, but Hutchinson's rough preseason and subsequent struggles in his first game have enhanced Pavelec's job security.

Jets' Pavelec To Start Saturday

News: Ondrej Pavelec will be the starting goaltender in Saturday's game against the Sharks, Tim Campbell of the Winnipeg Free Press reports.
Analysis: Ondrej Pavelec will be looking for his second consecutive win after giving up just two goals in a victory over the Coyotes in the Jets' season opener.

Jets' Pavelec Opens Season With Win

News: Ondrej Pavelec stopped 26 of the 28 shots he faced in Thursday's victory over Arizona.
Analysis: Ondrej Pavelec entered the preseason not assured of his No. 1 role between the pipes, but got off to a solid start in the season opener. The second goal he surrendered came with the Jets already owning a five-goal lead, so it wasn't a particularly high-leverage situation. He'll continue to get the bulk of the starts in net for Winnipeg going forward.

Jets Start Pavelec In Opener

News: Ondrej Pavelec will be between the pipes for Thursday's season opener against the Coyotes, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: With a career 2.96 GAA and .906 save percentage over 288 outings, Ondrej Pavelec has done little to suggest he's a capable No. 1 goalie, but his $3.9 million cap hit seems to give him more job security than he probably deserves. Backup Michael Hutchinson was expected to push Pavelec for No. 1 duties to begin the season, but Hutchinson's horrid preseason has likely ended those hopes for the time being. As a result, the Jets appear set to sink or swim again with Pavelec, with the former outcome representing a seemingly more realistic scenario.

Jets' Pavelec Makes 17 Saves In Preseason Win

News: Ondrej Pavelec made 17 saves on 18 shots in Saturday's win over Calgary, finishing the preseason with an impressive .931 save percentage.
Analysis: Ondrej Pavelec struggled in 2013-14, posting a 22-26-7 record, to go with a .901 save percentage and 3.01 GAA. Not much has changed in Winnipeg, so it's hard to count on a big bounce back season from the 27-year-old goalie, especially considering that backup Michael Hutchison impressed in a short amount of games last season. Pavelec may lose the starting role if his struggles from 2013-14 continue into the 2014-15 season.

Jets' Pavelec To Sit Monday

News: Ondrej Pavelec will make way for teammate Michael Hutchinson to make his NHL debut in net Monday against Minnesota, reports TSN's Darrin Bauming.
Analysis: Ondrej Pavelec and the Jets are eliminated from playoff contention. That means fantasy owners need to grab Hutchinson in deep leagues or otherwise look elsewhere, as Pavelec may not start as much to end the season.

Jets' Pavelec Quiets Leafs On Saturday

News: Ondrej Pavelec turned away 23 of 25 shots to defeat the Maple Leafs on Saturday.
Analysis: The Jets might be eliminated from playoff contention, but thanks to the work of Ondrej Pavelec and his mates, they were able to deal a crucial blow to Toronto's postseason hopes as well with the 4-2 victory. Pavelec's final line would have been even nicer had he not muffed a clearance attempt behind the with 6:15 remaining in first period. Toronto's Nazem Kadri pounced on Pavelec's misstep and scored into an empty net, but the goalie put the clamps on the Leafs thereafter.

Jets' Pavelec Will Start Versus Leafs

News: Ondrej Pavelec will be between the pipes when the Jets take on Toronto Saturday night, according to a report by Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun.
Analysis: Ondrej Pavelec's start will be his fifth straight. He may not start every game left with the Jets now out of contention for the playoffs. Fantasy owners beware, he's only won a single game in his last 10 starts dating back to March 1.

Jets' Pavelec Rocked By Pens

News: Ondrej Pavelec was tagged for four goals on 21 shots in Thursday's 4-2 loss to Pittsburgh.
Analysis: As has been the norm in his career, Ondrej Pavelec was unable to build on the quality outing he delivered his last time out, Tuesday's win in Phoenix. With this loss, Pavelec and the Jets have officially been eliminated from the playoffs. Again.

Jets Choose Pavelec For Thursday Start

News: Ondrej Pavelec will be in the crease Thursday against the Penguins, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Ondrej Pavelec has performed unevenly since returning from a lower-body injury three games ago, taking a win and two losses while allowing nine goals on 81 shots (.888 save percentage). Winnipeg is just about out of the running for a playoff spot at this point, so they'll probably need Pavelec to play his best hockey of the season to have any prayer of catching Minnesota or Dallas for the final spot out West.

Jets' Pavelec Wins For First Time In Seven Starts

News: Ondrej Pavelec stopped 28-of-29 shots in a 2-1 shootout win over the Coyotes on Tuesday.
Analysis: Ondrej Pavelec has struggled with a lower-body injury lately, so seeing him get a win down the stretch is nice for fantasy owners. The Jets would need a miracle to make the playoffs, but as long as they're alive mathematically, Pavelec will start.

Jets Turn To Pavelec On Tuesday

News: Ondrej Pavelec is slated to start Tuesday's game against the Coyotes, Gary Lawless of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Ondrej Pavelec will try to bounce back for the Jets in short order on Tuesday after surrendering five goals on 36 shots in an overtime loss to Anaheim on Monday.

Jets Turn To Pavelec On Monday

News: Ondrej Pavelec will Start Monday's game against the Ducks, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: Ondrej Pavelec, who was yanked from Saturday's loss to the Kings, will get a chance to bounce back Monday against the Ducks, with Al Montoya possibly not available Monday.

Jets' Pavelec Lets In Five In Loss

News: Ondrej Pavelec gave up five goals on 36 shots in an overtime loss to the Ducks on Monday.
Analysis: Ondrej Pavelec leads the league in losses with 25, and his GAA is up over 3.00 now. However, with Al Montoya banged up, and Winnipeg's playoff hopes all but dead, it's largely irrelevant at this point.

Jets' Pavelec Yanked Saturday Against Kings

News: Ondrej Pavelec allowed three goals on 16 shots before being pulled in Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Kings at Staples Center.
Analysis: Coach Paul Maurice replaced Ondrej Pavelec at the start of the second period with Al Montoya, who fared only slightly better in giving up one goal on 13 shots. Once considered the bona fide starter of the young Jets, Pavelec has floundered this season, posting a GAA of over three for the first time in his career (3.01) and a save percentage of .902 - his lowest since 2008-2009 when he went 3-7-0 with Atlanta. His record this season now sits at a disappointing 20-25-6 and he is a big reason why the Jets have yet again failed to make the playoffs since migrating from Atlanta.

Jets' Pavelec Will Start Saturday

News: Ondrej Pavelec (lower body) will be back in the net Saturday against the Kings, Jeff Hamilton of CBC.ca reports.
Analysis: For the first time in six games, Ondrej Pavelec will return to the crease after the Jets received dependable work from understudy Al Montoya in his stead. Pavelec faces a stiff test right off the bat with the Kings, who have won five in a row and 13 of their last 16.

Jets' Pavelec Could Be Back Saturday

News: Updating a previous report, coach Paul Maurice said Ondrej Pavelec would not play Thursday, but could be an option Saturday against the Kings, Gary Lawless of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Maurice appears content to let Ondrej Pavelec rest up for one more game, allowing Al Montoya to pick up another start in his stead. Pavelec's five-year contract gives him plenty of job security over Montoya once he's healthy, but he was struggling this season before suffering the injury. He owns a middling 2.97 GAA and .902 save percentage to accompany his 20-24-6 record.

Jets' Pavelec Could Start Thursday

News: Ondrej Pavelec (lower body) indicated he is ready to play Thursday against the Sharks if needed, Gary Lawless of the Winnipeg Free Press reports.
Analysis: Ondrej Pavelec took part in a full practice Wednesday and looks like he'll be ready to at least serve in a backup capacity Thursday night. The Jets have received respectable goalie play from Al Montoya over the last few games, which may prompt coach Paul Maurice to give Pavelec an additional night off just to aid his recovery.

Jets' Pavelec Still Out

News: Ondrej Pavelec (lower body) won't be available for Monday's game against the Stars, Tim Campbell of the Winnipeg Free Press reports.
Analysis: Ondrej Pavelec, who last suited up on March 14, remains in the day-to-day category. Meanwhile, Al Montoya continues to fill in for the Jets.
