Bruins' Potter Sidelined

News: Corey Potter is dealing with a right arm injury, csnne.com reports.
Analysis: With Corey Potter hurting, the Bruins still have Andrej Meszaros on hand as a spare blueliner, but if Potter's absence persists as the playoffs continue, the B's may need to summon help from AHL Providence.

Bruins Claim Potter On Waivers

News: The Bruins have claimed Corey Potter off waivers from the Oilers, Joe Haggerty of Comcast Sportsnet New England reports.
Analysis: The 6-foot-3, 204-pounder gives the B's some valuable blue line depth heading into the stretch run, but he's unlikely to make much of a fantasy splash in Boston after having recorded five assists and 21 PIM in 16 contests with the Oilers this season.

Oilers Place Potter On Waivers

News: Corey Potter was placed on waivers Tuesday, according to Oilers' official website.
Analysis: Could this be a sign that the Oilers are about to import some players? Possibly, as there are rumors that Sam Gagner, Ales Hemsky and Nail Yakupov could be on the move -- or it could just be that Corey Potter hasn't been all that productive.

Oilers' Potter Struggling To Stay In Lineup

News: Corey Potter has five assists in 16 games so far this season.
Analysis: The blueliner has missed time with injuries and a suspension this season, and is often a scratch even when he is healthy. He's show the ability to chip in offensively in flashes this year, but he's just not in the lineup enough to warrant picking up at this point.

Oilers' Potter To Return Tuesday

News: Corey Potter (groin) will be back in the lineup Tuesday vs. the Canucks.
Analysis: A groin injury has kept Corey Potter out since Dec. 27, but he'll draw back in for the Oilers on Tuesday, replacing Anton Belov on the blue line. Coach Dallas Eakins said that Potter has been ready to play for a game or two now, with Eakins stating he just wanted to get Belov a rest Tuesday. With that it mind, Potter may have to settle in as a healthy scratch for the games to come.

Analysis: Corey Potter has been out for almost three weeks with the groin injury and doesn't look like he's especially close to returning. The Oilers will continue to attempt to get by with Martin Marincin on the third pairing in his stead.

Oilers' Potter Suspended For Two Games

News: Corey Potter has been suspended for two games for his hit on Anaheim's Nick Bonino during Sunday's contest, Sportsnet.ca's Josh Rimer reports.
Analysis: Corey Potter returned from a neck injury Sunday, only to earn a two-game suspension. His absence will temporarily affect Edmonton's blueline depth, though the team can probably get similar production from an AHL call-up. The 29-year-old Potter has just 113 NHL appearances and 30 career points to his name.

Oilers' Potter Misses Practice With Neck Soreness

News: Corey Potter missed practice Wednesday due to neck soreness.
Analysis: The ailment sounds relatively minor, as coach Dallas Eakins indicated Corey Potter's absence was more for maintenance purposes. It doesn't sound like Potter is in any real danger of missing Thursday's game against Boston.

Oilers Recall Potter

News: Corey Potter was recalled from AHL Oklahoma City on Wednesday.
Analysis: The Oilers elected to make a handful of changes to their defensive front in advance of Thursday's game vs. the Avalanche, recalling Corey Potter and Martin Marincin from the minors while sending Denis Grebeshkov back to Oklahoma City. With Grebeshkov out of the picture, either Potter or Marincin will ascend to regular work in one of the team's pairings on most nights while the other will typically serve as a healthy scratch.

Oilers Assign Potter To AHL Oklahoma City

News: The Oilers assigned Corey Potter to AHL Oklahoma City on Monday.
Analysis: Corey Potter was sent down to open a roster spot for goalie Jason LaBarbera, who was brought up in order to add another netminder to the roster while Ilya Bryzgalov deals with a head injury. Expect Potter to be among the top options next time the Oilers need to bring up a defender from the minors.

Oilers Recall Potter From AHL

News: Corey Potter was recalled from AHL Oklahoma City on Tuesday.
Analysis: Corey Potter will likely serve on the Oilers' third defensive pairing Wednesday against the Stars, but should be a healthy scratch thereafter with Justin Schultz close to returning from injured reserve. The 29-year-old hasn't played this season after opening the season on IR due to a back injury, only to be waived by the Oilers once he was healthy.

Oilers' Potter Recalled From AHL

News: Corey Potter was recalled from AHL Oklahoma City on Sunday.
Analysis: The Oilers sent Corey Potter out for a conditioning assignment earlier in the week, after a back injury shelved the 29-year-old for several weeks. It's not clear whether Potter will play Sunday against the Kings, but if not, a return for Tuesday's game against Toronto seems likely.

Oilers' Potter Heads Out On Conditioning Assignment

News: Corey Potter (back) was sent to AHL Oklahoma City on Friday to begin a conditioning assignment.
Analysis: Corey Potter has yet to play this season after suffering a back injury late in training camp. The team will use the conditioning assignment as a gauge of whether or not he's ready to return to NHL game action. If he checks out fine over the weekend, he'd likely be activated from IR at some point next week.

Oilers' Potter Expected To Open Season On IR

News: Corey Potter is dealing with a back injury and is expected to open the season on injured reserve, the Edmonton Sun reports.
Analysis: The Oilers have already scratched Corey Potter from their list of available defensemen to open the season, so the move to injured reserve seems inevitable. Potter recorded four points and a plus-8 rating over 33 games with the Oilers last season.
