Pelley Gets Goal For Anaheim

News: Rod Pelley scored the Ducks' third goal in a 5-4 loss to the Canucks on Tuesday.
Analysis: The goal was Rod Pelley's first since December 14 against the Coyotes. There's precious little fantasy value in the 27-year-old centerman.

Devils Deal Pelley To Anaheim In Four-Player Deal

News: Anaheim has traded Kurtis Foster and Timo Pielmeier to the Devils in exchange for Rod Pelley, Mark Fraser, and a seventh-round pick in the 2012 draft, the Ducks' official twitter reports.
Analysis: Rod Pelley has only seen seven starts this season, but did play 74 games in the 2010-11 season where his numbers were unremarkable. This season, he has seven PIMs and no points with New Jersey.

Devils Place Pelley On Waivers

News: Rod Pelley has been placed on waivers, Bob McKenzie of TSN reports.
Analysis: This happened in October as well, and isn't necessarily an indication that he'll be sent down to Albany (AHL) in the near future.

Pelley Clears Waivers, Remains With Devils

News: Rod Pelley cleared waivers Tuesday and remains with the Devils, the Bergen Record's Tom Gulitti reports.
Analysis: Rod Pelley was a victim of the Devils having too many defensive forwards that offer more offensive upside than himself. Pelley has a one-way contract and will have to clear waivers if the Devils opt to recall him from the AHL when or if he is sent down.

Devils Waive Pelley

News: Rod Pelley has been placed on waivers, Tom Gulitti of the Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: He'll likely report to the AHL if he's not claimed by another club.

Pelley Sparks New Jersey Win

News: Pelley grabbed a goal and an assist in Monday's win over the Islanders.
Analysis: Pelley's production Monday was half of his season's output. He's a steady defensive forward that has been giving the team a solid boost of energy. Five of his season's six points have come since December 26.

Devils' Pelley Returns

News: Pelley returned to the ice against the Rangers a day after taking a deflected puck to the face.
Analysis: Pelley, who has yet to notch a point this season, has minimal fantasy value in most formats.

Devils' Pelley Leaves Game with Injury

News: Pelley left Saturday's game in the first period after taking a puck to the face off a deflected shot.
Analysis: No word on the severity of the injury. He probably won't return.

Pelley activated off IR Friday

News: Rod Pelley was activated from injured reserve by the Devils on Friday after missing five games because of a lower-body injury. Pelley replaced RW Niclas Bergfors, who had no goals and one assist in his last 14 games, against the Maple Leafs. He had no points and a minus-2 rating in 11:22 of ice time.
Analysis: The Devils really counted on Pelley to pick up the slack as the team's third-line center this season in the absence of John Madden, who left via free agency for Chicago. Unfortunately, Pelley has fallen way short of expectations. He does have a career-high seven points in 2009-10, but Pelley still has marginal Fantasy appeal when healthy. The fact he has been relegated to the fourth line and could be a healthy scratch at times doesn't help his cause.

Pelley placed on IR Friday

News: The Newark Star-Ledger reports the Devils placed Rod Pelley on injured reserve Friday with a lower-body injury. The move was retroactive to Monday. Ben Walter was recalled from Lowell of the AHL.

Pelley not happy about being scratched

News: The Sports Xchange reports Devils C Rod Pelley was a healthy scratch in favor of D Matt Corrente on Saturday against the Stars and wasn't pleased. "I'm not surprised, I'm angry," he said. "You play 20 games and there's not much to show for it. Hopefully it has nothing to do with what's on paper. Hopefully it's what you are contributing to game and the team. I've got to find a way to contribute. If Jacques thinks somebody else will do that, that's what he'll decide. I don't read his mind."
Analysis: Pelley has two points, both assists, and is a minus-6 so far this season. New Jersey was really confident Pelley would take on the third-line center role vacated by John Madden, who signed with Chicago in the offseason. Pelley hasn't filled the role to expectations and New Jersey made sure he knew about it on Saturday. Pelley is merely a Fantasy flier in leagues that reward heavily for short-handed and faceoff stats when active.

Pelley endorsed as Madden's replacement

News: The Sports Xchange reports Devils C Rod Pelley is excited general manager Lou Lamoriello has endorsed him as John Madden's successor as the team's checking center. "To come out public like that, there's a lot of confidence," Pelley said. "You're basically telling the player, 'You better be ready. This is your opportunity. It's in your hands now.' That's basically how I interpret that. That's what I'll be ready in September for."
Analysis: The undrafted and Ohio State alum Pelley has not played for the Devils since the 2007-08 season. He had six points (two goals) in 58 games with New Jersey that season. Pelley totaled 15 goals and 38 points in 75 games with Lowell of the AHL last season. Pelley is a nice fit for coach Jacques Lemaire's trapping-style scheme, but he is merely a Fantasy flier in leagues that reward heavily for short-handed and faceoff stats.

Devils send 29 to AHL

News: The Devils have assigned G Dave Caruso, G Scott Clemmensen, G Jeff Frazee, G Jason Smith, D Matthew Corrente, D Tyler Eckford, D Mark Fraser, D Jay Leach, D Olivier Magnan-Grenier, D Rosario Ruggeri, D Matthew Spiller, F Nicklas Bergfors, F Tyler Burton, F Eric Castonguay, F Kevin Cormier, F Patrick Davis, F Jon DiSalvatore, F Stephen Gionta, F Matt Halischuk, F Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond, F Brad Mills, F Benoit Mondou, F Ryan Murphy, F Rod Pelley, F Pascal Rheaume, F Brad Snetsinger, F Michael Swift, F Chad Wiseman and F Vladimir Zharkov to Lowell (AHL).
Analysis: Bergfors, a first-round pick in the 2005 draft, is the only in this list with any real Fantasy value. Keep a hold of him in keeper formats, but ignore everyone else.

Pelley re-ups with the Devils

News: The New Jersey Devils re-signed center Rod Pelley on Friday and acquired forward Kevin Cormier in a trade with the Phoenix Coyotes. New Jersey traded defenseman Sean Zimmerman to get Cormier.
Analysis: Pelley had two goals and four assists in 58 games with the Devils last season. He also had three points in 11 games with the Lowell Devils (AHL). He is nothing more than a lower-line forward for the Devils and can be ignored in Fantasy.

Devils likely to re-sign Pelley

News: The Sports Xchange reports Devils C Rod Pelley remains unsigned, but GM Lou Lamoriello said that would be taken care of.
Analysis: Pelley had two goals, four assists and 19 penalty minutes in 58 games with the Devils last season. He also had three points in 11 games with the Lowell Devils (AHL). He is nothing more than a lower-line forward for the Devils and can be ignored in Fantasy.

Devils reassigned Pelley to Lowell

News: The New Jersey Devils has reassigned forward Rod Pelley to Lowell on Friday. Pelley, 23, has collected two goals and four assists for six points in 54 games with New Jersey this season.
Analysis: The native of Kitimat, British Columbia, recorded 17 goals and 12 assists in 65 games last season with New Jersey's AHL affiliate. Pelley has not Fantasy value right now.

Pelley beats Hedberg on Friday

News: Devils forward Rod Pelley scored his second goal of the season Friday against the Thrashers to make it 1-0 at 8:59 of the second period when his shot from the corner managed to elude Johan Hedberg. His first goal came Nov. 8 against the Flyers.
Analysis: Pelley has just two goals and two assists this season. He is not getting many chances to post points by averaging less than 10 minutes per contest. He is not a recommended Fantasy player in most leagues.

News: Rod Pelley has been returned to Lowell of the AHL on Tuesday.

Pelley back with the Devils

News: The Devils called up C Rod Pelley from Lowell (AHL) on Saturday.
Analysis: Pelley might not get enough time on the ice to warrant heavy use in Fantasy leagues. He is only worth a look in the largest of Fantasy leagues.

News: The New Jersey Devils recalled from Lowell of the AHL and reassigned Rod Pelley to their minor-league affiliate on Tuesday.

Devils send 22 players to AHL

News: The New Jersey Devils assigned F Nicklas Bergfors, D Alex Brooks, F Patrick Davis, G Frank Doyle, D Mark Fraser, F Stephen Gionta, D Tomas Harant, F Ivan Khomutov, F Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond, D Olivier Magnan, D Bryan Miller, F Chris Minard, D Mike Mottau, F Ryan Murphy, G Gregg Naumenko, F Mike Pandolfo, F Justin Papineau, G Jordan Parise, F Rod Pelley, F Jason Ryznar, F Aaron Voros and F Petr Vrana to Lowell of the AHL.
Analysis: Expect Pandolfo, Papineau and Ryznar to see time with the Devils at some point, but neither of the players above are worth using in any Fantasy league right now.
