Sabres' Moulson Scores Two In Win

News: Matt Moulson notched his first multi-goal game of the season with two goals in a 4-3 win over Calgary on Thursday.
Analysis: The Sabres' top line of Matt Moulson, Tyler Ennis and Zemgus Girgensons continues to click as the trio combined for seven points Thursday. Moulson scored the game's first goal and the game-winner to improve to six goals and 14 points in 29 games on the season. He's still far off pace and performing below expectations, but that the first line continues to show brilliant chemistry bodes well for him. Moulson is a risky play for goals at the moment but it could pay off.

Sabres' Moulson Scores Game-Winner Vs. Habs

News: Matt Moulson scored the game-winning goal on a power play and added an assist in Friday's win over the Canadiens.
Analysis: Matt Moulson has picked it up recently, tallying three goals and eight points in his last seven games. While he only has 11 points (four goals) in 23 games on the season, Moulson's recent play could indicate that more production is on the way. While his offensive ability is limited with the Sabres, Moulson is playing on the top line and seeing top power-play minutes, so he should at least be able to crank out 20 goals. After going goalless in his first 14 games, Moulson is starting to look like the player who who put up three consecutive 30-goal seasons with the Islanders a few years back.

Sabres' Moulson: Six Points In Last Five Games

News: Matt Moulson scored just his third goal of the season in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Capitals.
Analysis: He's struggled to pick up points this year in Buffalo, but his game has started to warm up in his last five (two goals, four assists). Roll him if you've been holding onto him -- you have to take advantage of bursts like this.

Friday's Game Postponed For Sabres, Moulson

News: Matt Moulson and the Sabres had their scheduled game Friday against the Rangers postponed due to the extreme weather conditions in the Buffalo area, Andrew Gross of the Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: Though the Sabres were able to complete Tuesday's game against the Sharks when the snowstorm wasn't at its worst, some parts of the region have now received up to six feet of snow, making travel extremely difficult. No make-up date has been announced yet for the game, but appears the Sabres remain on track to head to Washington for Saturday's game.

Sabres' Moulson Finally Heating Up

News: Matt Moulson was at the center of the Sabres' six-goal outburst in Saturday's win over the Maple Leafs. The winger contributed a goal and assisted on two others in the blowout victory.
Analysis: The Sabres still possess one of the more woeful offensive attacks in the league, but coach Ted Nolan seems to have found a quality top line combination in Matt Moulson, center Zemgus Girgensons and winger Tyler Ennis. The trio accounted for eight points on the afternoon, with Moulson and Ennis tying for the team lead with three. After posting just two points in his first 14 games, Moulson is finally beginning to resemble the sniper the Sabres thought they were getting when they inked him to a five-year contract in the offseason. He's now potted two goals and delivered four assists in his last five contests.

Sabres' Moulson Ends Goalless Drought

News: It only took 15 games, but Matt Moulson notched his first goal of the season in a losing effort against Edmonton on Friday.
Analysis: Matt Moulson looked skyward after scoring his first goal of the season 26 seconds into the second period as he finally snapped his 15-game goalless streak. Captain Brian Gionta did all the hard work digging the puck out from behind the net as Moulson went unnoticed in the slot and fired home a one-timer. However, he's still on pace for just five goals this season. That's simply not good enough for the most goal-starved team in the league.

Sabres' Moulson Off To Career-Worst Start

News: Matt Moulson has yet to score in 10 games this season, the worst start of his career.
Analysis: The Sabres are struggling on offense as a team, but the three-time 30-goal scorer is being counted on as one of the team's go-to guys. He's been a fixture on the top line with Tyler Ennis and Drew Stafford, and head coach Ted Nolan seems hesitant to break up his top line, but it may be necessary to get the team going. There's been a lot of negative energy to start the season despite lots of excitement during the preseason as the Sabres continue their re-build. If Matt Moulson continues his cold streak he won't be worth owning in any league in any format.

Sabres' Moulson In Midst Of Slow Start

News: Matt Moulson has produced no goals, two assists and a minus-4 rating over nine games with the Sabres this season.
Analysis: As is the case team-wide, scoring opportunities have remained infrequent for Matt Moulson, who re-committed to the Sabres on a five-year, $25 million contract in the offseason. He still ranks second on the team with 20 shot attempts, but he'll need to find the net with more regularity for the Sabres to have any hope of staying competitive. Nonetheless, with each passing game, it's looking increasingly likely that Moulson could fall below the 20-goal plateau for the first time in his career over a full season.

Moulson Signs With Sabres

News: The Sabres have signed Matt Moulson (lower body) to a five-year, $25 million deal, TSN.ca reports.
Analysis: The 30-year-old Matt Moulson returns to Buffalo after a subpar stint with Minnesota for the playoffs. General manager Tim Murray wasn't lying when he said he wasn't worried about reaching the cap floor with this deal. Moulson scored just 23 goals last year, including 11 in 44 games with the Sabres, and only one in 10 playoff games -- not quite enough production to justify his $5 million price tag. It's possible other teams offered Moulson less money and fewer years. Regardless, Moulson will again be a top scoring option for a Sabres team that's in the midst of a rebuild.

Wild's Moulson: Oblique/Groin Injuries

News: Matt Moulson had oblique and groin injuries that limited his skating ability down the stretch, Chad Graff of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Analysis: The Wild's season is over, so Matt Moulson's injuries no longer have any fantasy significance, but it explains why he was limited in Minnesota's series against Chicago.

Wild's Moulson Nears Return

News: Coach Mike Yeo suggested that Matt Moulson (lower body) is nearing a return to action, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Yeo suggested that if the Wild are able to extend their series with Chicago to seven contests by taking Tuesday's Game 6, Matt Moulson could potentially suit up for Game 7 on Thursday.

Wild's Moulson (Back) Out Sunday

Analysis: Matt Moulson seems unlikely to play in the rest of the series due to the injury.

Wild's Moulson Set To Miss Game 4 With Injury

News: Matt Moulson is dealing with a lower-body injury and expected to miss Game 4, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Matt Moulson's anemic performance over the first 10 postseason games may have had him destined for the press box for Game 4 anyway, but the injury might actually explain the drop in the forward's productivity. Coach Mike Yeo said Moulson would be off the ice for a couple days, with the hope it will allow him to heal up in time for Game 5, scheduled for Sunday.

Wild Likely To Scratch Moulson For Game 4

News: It looks like Matt Moulson will be a healthy scratch for Friday's Game 4 against the Blackhawks, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: With Matt Cooke concluding his seven-game suspension Tuesday, the Wild unveiled new practice lines Thursday, with Matt Moulson not being included among the top 12 forwards. If those lines hold for Game 4, it would be a development unforeseen just two months ago, when the Wild acquired Moulson from the Sabres in won of the splashier moves at the trade deadline. While Moulson was productive in his final 20 regular season games with the Wild, he's disappeared in the playoffs, providing just a goal and two assists in 10 games.

Wild Drop Moulson To Third Line

News: Matt Moulson has been dropped to the third line for Tuesday's Game 3 against the Blackhawks, Tom Callahan of 102.5 The Game reports.
Analysis: After supplying just two points in the Wild's seven-game series with the Avalanche in the first round, Matt Moulson has continued his disappearing act against the Blackhawks, going scoreless through the first two games. He's seen less than 15 minutes of ice time in both contests, with his 13:34 TOI in Game 2 marking his lowest minute total of the postseason. The banishment to the third line will only further damage his fading fantasy value.

Wild's Moulson Grabs Assist In Finale

News: Matt Moulson had an assist in the Wild's regular-season finale against the Predators on Sunday.

Wild's Moulson Tallies Two Points

News: Matt Moulson scored the game-winning goal and added an assist against the Red Wings on Sunday.
Analysis: That's 21 goals and 46 points now for Matt Moulson. Also, he is up to a minus-3 on the year which, given that he's spent most of his time with the Islanders and Sabres this season, could still improve quite a bit.

Wild's Moulson Scores Twice In Return To NY

News: Matt Moulson had two goals, including the game-winner, and an assist in his return to Long Island on Tuesday.
Analysis: Matt Moulson rose to the occasion in his return. He's been traded twice since leaving New York, but there was no shortage of love for him as the crowd cheered both times he scored. He has three goals and two assists in his seven games since heading to Minnesota.

Wild's Moulson Pots Goal

News: Matt Moulson scored his first goal since being traded from Buffalo to Minnesota on Sunday against the Blues.
Analysis: Matt Moulson has a point in both of his games with the Wild, but he had four points in his last three games for Buffalo, so it has been a nice run for him.

Wild Acquire Moulson At Deadline

News: Matt Moulson was acquired from the Sabres along with Cody McCormick on Wednesday in exchange for Torrey Mitchell, a 2014 second-round draft pick and a 2016 second-round draft pick, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: The Sabres took up until shortly after the deadline to confirm the trade, but as expected all along, Matt Moulson will join a playoff contender in need of additional offensive punch. The 30-year-old totaled 17 goals and 21 assists over 55 games with the Islanders and Sabres this season and will hit free agency over the summer. He should immediately assume a top-six role for his new club while also seeing ample time on the power play. With higher-quality forwards surrounding him in Minnesota, it wouldn't be a surprise if Moulson noticed improved production following the trade.

Sabres' Moulson In Lineup Monday

Sabres' Moulson Will Play Monday

News: Matt Moulson is expected to play Monday against Dallas, reports John Vogl of The Buffalo News.
Analysis: Matt Moulson will play with Tyler Ennis and Drew Stafford on the team's first line. It should be a pretty dangerous one against Dallas, with Moulson as the triggerman for Ennis, arguably the team's best player now, and Stafford, who has 11 points in 12 games in 2014. Moulson fueled trade speculation after missing an optional practice Monday. Though he's expected to be traded, it doesn't look like that will happen just yet.

Sabres' Moulson On The Move?

News: Matt Moulson was not present at Monday's morning skate, John Vogl of the Buffalo News reports.
Analysis: Given the heavy trade talk that has surrounded Matt Moulson, this could signal that another deal is in the works for Buffalo. Moulson's owners should stay tuned for further developments on a possible trade. If that's not the case, there should be some other explanation for why he wasn't at morning skate. Moulson was linked to Ottawa a few days ago, perhaps as part of a package including Chris Stewart, but Stewart is expected to play Monday. Stay tuned.

Ottawa A Potential Destination For Sabres' Moulson

News: After acquiring Chris Stewart in a trade, the Sabres may package him with Matt Moulson to the Senators, reports TSN's Bob McKenzie.
Analysis: Matt Moulson previously stated a willingness to stay in Buffalo, having been traded once already this year. However, general manager Tim Murray has the Sabres' future in mind, and will trade the scoring winger if the price is right. A package of Stewart and Moulson would surely bring in some valuable pieces, and the pair would have a chance to compete in the playoffs and play alongside quality centers in Jason Spezza and Kyle Turris. Stay tuned.

Moulson On Buffalo Board Again

News: Matt Moulson scored what became the game-winning goal in Friday's victory over San Jose, giving him at least a point in each of his last five games.
Analysis: It's good to be productive when you're in the league's shop window. Matt Moulson most likely will be traded on or before Wednesday's deadline. He's a player with a knack for scoring around the goal and can play alongside elite talent. He'll be an asset wherever he ends up, even if he stays in Buffalo.
