Carolina's Tlusty Bags Seventh Goal

News: Jiri Tlusty tallied the Hurricanes' lone goal in Saturday's 2-1 loss to the Bruins.
Analysis: Jiri Tlusty put Carolina on the board first when he tipped a Justin Faulk shot attempt past goalie Tuukka Rask for his seventh marker of the season. It was just the winger's second point in the month of November, spanning a total of eight games.

Carolina's Tlusty Still Set To Play Friday

News: Coach Bill Peters said after Friday's morning skate that Jiri Tlusty (head) remains on track to play against the Blue Jackets.
Analysis: Jiri Tlusty did depart early during the team's morning skate, but only for final testing as part of the concussion protocol. Assuming he comes through the testing without incident, just as he had the previous couple of days, he'll likely be on track to see his usual 19 minutes of action on the Canes' top line.

Hurricanes' Tlusty Expects To Play Friday

News: Jiri Tlusty (head) expects to play Friday against the Blue Jackets.
Analysis: Jiri Tlusty wore a non-contact sweater at Thursday's practice, but he was able to make it through the session without setback. A final call on Tlusty's status will be made following Friday's morning skate since he still remains under the concussion protocol, but it looks like the injury that knocked him out of Tuesday's game will not cost him any additional action.

Carolina's Tlusty Reports Improvement

News: Jiri Tlusty (head) underwent concussion tests Tuesday and is expected to receive additional testing Thursday.
Analysis: While Jiri Tlusty isn't in the clear just yet, he indicated he felt better Wednesday, a day after he was the recipient of a vicious check to the head from the Blue Jackets' Jack Johnson. The Hurricanes will take every precaution to keep Tlusty off the ice until he's passed all the tests conducted by the team's medical staff, putting his status for Friday's rematch with Columbus in question for the moment.

Carolina's Tlusty Brushes Off Injury Concern

News: Jiri Tlusty, who left Tuesday's game versus the Blue Jackets after taking a hit to the head, told coach Bill Peters he "felt fine" after the contest.
Analysis: Though Jiri Tlusty's words would seem to offer encouragement that he avoided a serious injury, the Hurricanes probably aren't ruling out a concussion just yet, as symptoms can often take several hours or even a day to surface. For now, he should be viewed as questionable for Friday's rematch with the Blue Jackets in Carolina.

Carolina's Tlusty Leaves With Injury

News: Jiri Tlusty left Tuesday's game against the Blue Jackets with an undisclosed injury and will not return.
Analysis: Jiri Tlusty took a blindside hit to the head from the Jackets' Jack Johnson and immediately headed to the locker room. It's possible the forward sustained a concussion as a result of the blow, but the team probably won't provide an official diagnosis on his condition until Wednesday.

Hurricanes' Tlusty Scores Again In Win

News: Jiri Tlusty scored for the second straight game in Saturday's win over Arizona.
Analysis: Considering it took the Hurricanes nine games to win this season, it's quite impressive Jiri Tlusty has managed six goals in his last eight games. With Eric Staal back from injury, Tlusty should continue to find the back of the net skating on the top line.

Canes' Tlusty Nets Goal In Loss To Canucks

News: Jiri Tlusty scored the Hurricanes' only goal in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Canucks.
Analysis: Jiri Tlusty has been one of the brighter lights on an otherwise dismal Hurricanes team this year. He now leads his team with seven points in eight games, and is well on pace to surpass the 30 points he posted last season. Furthermore, with linemate Eric Staal (upper body) now back in the lineup, Tlusty should benefit from an even stronger supporting cast. Enjoy the ride while it lasts.

Carolina's Tlusty Scores Goal Tuesday

News: Jiri Tlusty was responsible for the Hurricanes' only goal in Tuesday's loss to the Jets.
Analysis: Aside from his Oct. 11 hat trick against the Islanders, Jiri Tlusty's offense has mostly been nonexistent, and the same could be said for just about all of his mates. His five points are tied for tops on the team with Chris Terry, despite the fact that the duo has combined for only 13 shots on goal in Carolina's five games.

Canes' Tlusty Nets Trick In Loss

News: Jiri Tlusty picked up a hat trick in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Islanders.
Analysis: It was a #onemanshow for sure -- two of those goals came on the power play and the third was a solo, unassisted effort. Could a career high in the making? Maybe -- he has four points in two games and while that pace will slow, it's clear he has his eyes set on bettering his 38-point best. Get on board -- he's a low-cost complementary scorer for your squad.

Canes' Tlusty Scores In Loss

News: Jiri Tlusty added a goal and an assist in Carolina's 5-2 loss to the Capitals on Sunday.
Analysis: After last season's disappointing campaign, Jiri Tlusty is looking to turn things around this year and could start the season on the team's first line. He could have good fantasy value, but if he gets pushed down to the second line and last year's struggles resurface, he could be a risky pick.

Canes' Tlusty Set To Reprise First Line Role

News: Jiri Tlusty skated with Eric Staal and Alexander Semin at practice Monday, and this is expected to be the Canes' first line on opening night, the Raleigh News & Observer reports.
Analysis: At the start of training camp, there was some speculation whether new coach Bill Peters would insert Jeff Skinner in Jiri Tlusty's spot on the top line. However, at this point it appears Tlusty will at least open the season as the team's No. 1 left winger, which is good news considering the disappointing 30-point campaign he stumbled through last season. Having said that, Peters will likely not hesitate to switch things up if Tlusty struggles out of the gate, so he remains a somewhat risky fantasy selection in our minds.

Tlusty Re-Signs With Hurricanes

News: Jiri Tlusty has signed a one-year, $2.95 million deal to stay with the Hurricanes, the Raleigh News & Observer reports.
Analysis: The 26-year-old winger notched 23 goals and 38 points in 48 games for the Hurricanes during the lockout-shortened 2012-13 season, but his production dipped last year to just 16 goals and 30 points in 68 games. Now that he has re-upped, Jiri Tlusty will have a chance to engineer a bounce-back campaign with Carolina.

Carolina's Tlusty Hot To Close Out Season

News: Jiri Tlusty picked up two assists in Sunday's season finale against the Flyers.
Analysis: After missing four games toward the tail end of the season with a lower-body injury, Jiri Tlusty returned for the final three contests, notching at least a point in each one. The strong finish allowed him to reach 30 points on the season for the third time in his career.

Tlusty On Board For Canes

News: Jiri Tlusty scord what proved to be game-winning goal in Friday's 2-1 win over Detroit.
Analysis: Jiri Tlusty has been one of the season's more disappointing players after grabbing 23 goals in 48 games last season. He's missed some time this year due to injury, but his numbers this year have been underwhelming.

'Canes Confirm Tlusty To Play Thursday

News: Jiri Tlusty (lower body) will play Thursday against the Capitals.
Analysis: Jiri Tlusty's participation in practice Wednesday seemed to suggest he'd be available Thursday, and coach Kirk Muller confirmed as much after morning skate. He missed the last four games with the injury.

Canes' Tlusty Expected Back Thursday

News: Jiri Tlusty (upper body) is expected to be in the lineup Thursday against the Capitals, Michael Smith of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: The winger has 14 goals and 12 assists through 65 games this season, but hasn't been able to suit up since getting hurt March 31 against the Senators.

Hurricanes' Tlusty Likely To Sit Again Thursday

News: Coach Kirk Muller indicated that Jiri Tlusty is still considered day-to-day after Thursday's morning skate, NHL.com's Michael Smith reports.
Analysis: That more than likely means that Jiri Tlusty will be out of the lineup Thursday against the Stars, which would be the second consecutive game he's missed. The 26-year-old has 26 points in 65 games this season.

Hurricanes' Tlusty Exits Monday's Game

Hurricanes' Tlusty Out Tuesday

News: Jiri Tlusty (lower body) will not play Tuesday against the Penguins, Jamie Kellner of Canes Country reports.
Analysis: Jiri Tlusty saw just 10:32 of ice time Monday night after succumbing to a lower-body injury. He had been riding high with seven points in nine games prior to the injury, so his absence from Tuesday's lineup won't go unnoticed. Andrei Loktionov draws into the lineup in place of Tlusty.

Tlusty Scores Two For 'Canes

News: Jiri Tlusty scored the first two goals of Thursday's 3-0 win over the Panthers.
Analysis: With his 13th and 14th tallies on the season, Jiri Tlusty now has a three-game point streak going and is on a point-per-game pace over his last seven. It's been a long and difficult year for Tlusty's fantasy owners, but at least he's offering up some hope for next season's drafts -- he might be an intriguing sleeper.

Canes' Tlusty Will Play Friday

News: Jiri Tlusty (lower body) will play Friday against the Blackhawks, Michael Smith of the Hurricanes' official site reports.
Analysis: The lower-body injury will end up costing Jiri Tlusty just two games, as coach Kirk Muller confirmed the 26-year-old has been given the green light to return to the lineup against Chicago. Tlusty has netted two goals and one assist in his last three games.

Canes Rule Out Tlusty For Tuesday

News: Jiri Tlusty (lower body) will not play Tuesday vs. the Blue Jackets.
Analysis: The Hurricanes didn't waste much time in ruling out Jiri Tlusty for a second straight game after he was unable to return to practice Monday. Drayson Bowman figures to enter the lineup in place of Tlusty on Tuesday.

Hurricanes' Tlusty Doesn't Practice

News: Jiri Tlusty (lower body) was not on the ice for Monday's practice.
Analysis: The lower-body injury that kept Jiri Tlusty out of Sunday's game will continue to sideline him for practice, but he's still being labeled as day-to-day by the Hurricanes. Tlusty would probably need to get back on the ice for Tuesday's morning skate to have a shot at playing later that night against the Blue Jackets.

Canes' Tlusty Sidelined By Lower Body Injury

News: Jiri Tlusty missed Sunday's game against the Oilers with a lower-body injury, the Raleigh News & Observer reports.
Analysis: The exact nature and severity of Jiri Tlusty's injury remains unknown at this time, so consider him day-to-day for now. Tlusty had three points in his last three games prior to the injury, skating on the Canes' second line with Jordan Staal and Alexander Semin.
