Tlusty Re-Signs With Hurricanes

News: Jiri Tlusty has signed a one-year, $2.95 million deal to stay with the Hurricanes, the Raleigh News & Observer reports.
Analysis: The 26-year-old winger notched 23 goals and 38 points in 48 games for the Hurricanes during the lockout-shortened 2012-13 season, but his production dipped last year to just 16 goals and 30 points in 68 games. Now that he has re-upped, Jiri Tlusty will have a chance to engineer a bounce-back campaign with Carolina.

Carolina's Tlusty Hot To Close Out Season

News: Jiri Tlusty picked up two assists in Sunday's season finale against the Flyers.
Analysis: After missing four games toward the tail end of the season with a lower-body injury, Jiri Tlusty returned for the final three contests, notching at least a point in each one. The strong finish allowed him to reach 30 points on the season for the third time in his career.

Tlusty On Board For Canes

News: Jiri Tlusty scord what proved to be game-winning goal in Friday's 2-1 win over Detroit.
Analysis: Jiri Tlusty has been one of the season's more disappointing players after grabbing 23 goals in 48 games last season. He's missed some time this year due to injury, but his numbers this year have been underwhelming.

'Canes Confirm Tlusty To Play Thursday

News: Jiri Tlusty (lower body) will play Thursday against the Capitals.
Analysis: Jiri Tlusty's participation in practice Wednesday seemed to suggest he'd be available Thursday, and coach Kirk Muller confirmed as much after morning skate. He missed the last four games with the injury.

Canes' Tlusty Expected Back Thursday

News: Jiri Tlusty (upper body) is expected to be in the lineup Thursday against the Capitals, Michael Smith of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: The winger has 14 goals and 12 assists through 65 games this season, but hasn't been able to suit up since getting hurt March 31 against the Senators.

Hurricanes' Tlusty Likely To Sit Again Thursday

News: Coach Kirk Muller indicated that Jiri Tlusty is still considered day-to-day after Thursday's morning skate, NHL.com's Michael Smith reports.
Analysis: That more than likely means that Jiri Tlusty will be out of the lineup Thursday against the Stars, which would be the second consecutive game he's missed. The 26-year-old has 26 points in 65 games this season.

Hurricanes' Tlusty Exits Monday's Game

News: Jiri Tlusty left Monday's game against the Senators with an unspecified injury, NHL.com reports.
Analysis: As did Andrei Loktionov, which has prompted the Hurricanes to recall forward Chris Terry from AHL Charlotte in advance of Tuesday's game against the Penguins.

Hurricanes' Tlusty Out Tuesday

News: Jiri Tlusty (lower body) will not play Tuesday against the Penguins, Jamie Kellner of Canes Country reports.
Analysis: Jiri Tlusty saw just 10:32 of ice time Monday night after succumbing to a lower-body injury. He had been riding high with seven points in nine games prior to the injury, so his absence from Tuesday's lineup won't go unnoticed. Andrei Loktionov draws into the lineup in place of Tlusty.

Tlusty Scores Two For 'Canes

News: Jiri Tlusty scored the first two goals of Thursday's 3-0 win over the Panthers.
Analysis: With his 13th and 14th tallies on the season, Jiri Tlusty now has a three-game point streak going and is on a point-per-game pace over his last seven. It's been a long and difficult year for Tlusty's fantasy owners, but at least he's offering up some hope for next season's drafts -- he might be an intriguing sleeper.

Canes' Tlusty Will Play Friday

News: Jiri Tlusty (lower body) will play Friday against the Blackhawks, Michael Smith of the Hurricanes' official site reports.
Analysis: The lower-body injury will end up costing Jiri Tlusty just two games, as coach Kirk Muller confirmed the 26-year-old has been given the green light to return to the lineup against Chicago. Tlusty has netted two goals and one assist in his last three games.

Canes Rule Out Tlusty For Tuesday

News: Jiri Tlusty (lower body) will not play Tuesday vs. the Blue Jackets.
Analysis: The Hurricanes didn't waste much time in ruling out Jiri Tlusty for a second straight game after he was unable to return to practice Monday. Drayson Bowman figures to enter the lineup in place of Tlusty on Tuesday.

Hurricanes' Tlusty Doesn't Practice

News: Jiri Tlusty (lower body) was not on the ice for Monday's practice.
Analysis: The lower-body injury that kept Jiri Tlusty out of Sunday's game will continue to sideline him for practice, but he's still being labeled as day-to-day by the Hurricanes. Tlusty would probably need to get back on the ice for Tuesday's morning skate to have a shot at playing later that night against the Blue Jackets.

Canes' Tlusty Sidelined By Lower Body Injury

News: Jiri Tlusty missed Sunday's game against the Oilers with a lower-body injury, the Raleigh News & Observer reports.
Analysis: The exact nature and severity of Jiri Tlusty's injury remains unknown at this time, so consider him day-to-day for now. Tlusty had three points in his last three games prior to the injury, skating on the Canes' second line with Jordan Staal and Alexander Semin.

Tlusty Helps 'Canes Defeat Rangers

News: Jiri Tlusty scored the opening goal, assisted on another and went plus-2 in Tuesday's win over the Rangers.
Analysis: Jiri Tlusty had only picked up two points in his prior eight games, so this was a nice sign for the winger. Unfortunately, he remains highly inconsistent -- he's managed just 21 points in 57 games on the season.

Canes' Tlusty Hits Olympic Break In Scoring Slump

News: Jiri Tlusty went into the Olympic break with just two points in his last seven games.
Analysis: Despite seeing regular minutes on the Canes' top line, Jiri Tlusty has not shown the same chemistry with Eric Staal and Alexander Semin compared to last season when they formed one of the hottest lines in the league. Bottom line, he's tough to recommend as a reliable fantasy option right now. Once NHL play resumes later this month, feel free to bench him in favor of a more reliable scorer.

Canes' Tlusty Takes First Star Wednesday

News: Jiri Tlusty scored two points on a goal and assist in Wednesday's game against the Flyers to earn the first star selection.
Analysis: Jiri Tlusty was recently moved back to the first line next to Eric Staal and Alexander Semin. His scoring pace has been a bit off the mark he put up last season, but his placement and success on the first line could help him find more consistent shot selection.

Canes' Tlusty Rejoins Top Line

News: Jiri Tlusty was moved back to the Canes' first line during Monday's game against Calgary, the Raleigh News & Observer reports. "When you look back last year, Eric [Staal], [Alexander] Semin and Tlusty were a dominant line," coach Kirk Muller said. "There's no reason [not] to put them back together. They should be a strong No. 1 line and we should get production from them."
Analysis: It appears Jiri Tlusty now has an opportunity to rediscover the magic that he, Staal and Semin shared last season when they formed one of the NHL's most dynamic scoring lines. Tlusty, who currently has just six goals after scoring 23 last season, returned to the lineup Monday after missing eight games following an emergency appendectomy Christmas Eve. As such, it may take him awhile to get back into the flow of things with his new (old) linemates. Monitor carefully.

Hurricanes Activate Tlusty

News: Jiri Tlusty (appendix) was activated from injured reserve Monday.
Analysis: The forward missed the previous eight games after undergoing the emergency appendectomy Dec. 24. He was skating on the fourth line during morning skate and figures to see most of his time there for Monday's game against the Flames.

Hurricanes' Tlusty Out 2-3 Weeks

News: Jiri Tlusty underwent an emergency appendectomy Tuesday and will miss the next 2-to-3 weeks, Michael Smith of the Hurricanes' website reports.
Analysis: A rough season for Jiri Tlusty won't get better in the short term as he will need a few weeks to recover from the procedure. Zach Boychuk was called up to take Tlusty's place on the roster.

Hurricanes' Tlusty Finally Finds Twine

News: Jiri Tlusty scored a goal Tuesday against Washington, his first tally since Nov. 9 and just his fourth of the season.
Analysis: It's been just an awful season for Jiri Tlusty, who's been relegated to third-line minutes for the 'Canes and retains fairly minimal fantasy value outside keeper formats.

Canes' Tlusty Relegated To Checking Line Duty

News: Jiri Tlusty was relegated to checking-line duty during Thursday's 4-3 loss to Detroit. He started the game in his usual spot on the top line alongside Eric Staal and Jeff Skinner, but soon found himself on the fourth line with Radek Dvorak and Drayson Bowman.
Analysis: Jiri Tlusty's last point was scored six games ago - a goal Nov. 9 against Minnesota. Furthermore, he's gone a combined minus-6 over his past three games, so it's not hard to see why he's in coach Kirk Muller's doghouse. He's on a fast track to fantasy irrelevance if he doesn't turn things around, and fast. Bench him until his fortunes improve.

Canes' Tlusty Heating Up After Slow Start

News: Jiri Tlusty registered a goal during Saturday's 3-2 shootout loss to Minnesota, and saw a season-high 19:15 worth of ice time.
Analysis: After getting off to a miserable start with zero points in his first eight games, Jiri Tlusty now has a respectable six points in his last nine contests. He continues to skate on the Canes' top line alongside Eric Staal and Alexander Semin, and looks to be somewhat fantasy-worthy once again.

Canes' Tlusty Struggling Despite Top-Line Role

News: Jiri Tlusty has been held off the scoresheet in 11 of 13 games so far this season. He has just three points (two goals and one assist) to his name thus far, despite continuing to play on the Canes' top line alongside Eric Staal and Alexander Semin.
Analysis: The Canes lost their fourth straight game Friday against Tampa Bay, and overall are just 4-6-3 on the season. If Jiri Tlusty's power outage continues, we could see coach Kirk Muller juggle his lines in order to spark some much-needed offense. Tlusty's already-dropping fantasy value hangs in the balance, so monitor closely.

Canes' Tlusty Scores First Two Of Season

News: Jiri Tlusty scored his first two goals of the season in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Islanders.
Analysis: He was back on the first line after Kirk Muller demoted him to a lower line earlier this week and the move paid off -- the trio of Jiri Tlusty, Eric Staal and Alexander Semin combined for six points. This might be the game that puts Tlusty back on your fantasy radar.

Canes' Tlusty Removed From Top Line

News: Jiri Tlusty was moved off the Canes' first line during Tuesday's 3-2 shootout loss to Chicago, skating instead on the second line alongside Jordan Staal and Nathan Gerbe.
Analysis: With zero points in seven games so far this season for Jiri Tlusty, it's no wonder coach Kirk Muller made this move. Tlusty's fantasy value is dropping like a stone - at this point, you should not hesitate to remove him from your lineup and seek an appropriate replacement.
