Devils' Greene Unable to Keep Up the Pace

News: Andy Greene was a minus-1 and had two blocks in the Devils' OT loss to the Rangers.
Analysis: Andy Greene played heavy minutes today, and having to play shorthanded for an extended amount of time probably contributed to his minus-1 rating. However, he has remained consistent on the defensive end.

Devils' Greene Producing on Both Ends

News: Andy Greene filled up the stat sheet on Saturday, with four blocked shots, an assist, and one point.
Analysis: The Devils' top defenseman shows that he is capable of being a two way player on the ice. While defense is his calling card, his ability to produce offensively makes him an interesting choice for fantasy owners who are looking for a player who has balanced production on a nightly basis.

Devils, Greene Agree On Long-Term Deal

News: Andy Greene and the Devils reached an agreement on a long-term contract Wednesday, Tom Gulitti of the Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: The team hasn't specified the exact length of the contract, but it sounds like the 32-year-old Andy Greene could be locked in with the Devils for the rest of his career. He's entrenched himself as the team's top defenseman over the past two seasons, leading the unit in ice time while registering eight goals and 24 assists in 2013-14.

Devils' Greene Chipping In Offensively

News: Andy Greene has seven goals and 17 assists in 59 games this season.
Analysis: The veteran blueliner is putting together a solid season that could prove to be the best of his career. His seven goals are already the most he's ever scored in one NHL season.

Devils' Greene Gets A Goal

News: Andy Greene scored New Jersey's first goal in Friday's 5-3 loss to Chicago, his second goal in six games.
Analysis: Andy Greene is in the midst of the best offensive season of his career and remains a fixture on the team's top power-play unit. Greene jumped up into the rush on Friday and finished with a slick deke, characteristic of several of his goals this season.

Devils' Greene: Three-Point Game

News: Andy Greene scored a goal and added two assists in New Jersey's OT win over Washington on Saturday night. His goal was the game-winner.
Analysis: He's on a three-game point streak (two goals, three assists) and he's on pace for a his first mid-40s season. Take advantage of this output while it lasts.

Greene Scores Again For Devils

News: Andy Greene scored his fifth goal of the season in Friday's overtime loss to Anaheim, giving him a point in both of the last two games.
Analysis: Andy Greene has been enjoying his best offensive season since he tallied 37 points during the 2009-10 campaign and has been active on the power play, with just under half his points coming on the man advantage. Greene doesn't shoot the puck as much as the league's elite blueliners, but he remains a solid option in deeper leagues.

Greene Grabs Lone New Jersey Goal

News: Andy Greene scored the Devils' only goal in Friday's 3-1 loss to Detroit, a power-play marker and his fifth point in the last six games.
Analysis: Andy Greene has been playing consistent offensive hockey of late, with the bulk of his season's 14 points coming in the last three weeks. Greene has proven to be more consistent than teammate Marek Zidlicky and should be examined as an option in deeper leagues as he is receiving power-play time with the team's first unit. Greene has proven he can be an impact player offensively in his career, but it's been four seasons since he hit the 37-point mark. The plus here is that Greene's play could make him a dark horse candidate for Team USA in Sochi.

Devils' Greene Adds Goal, Assist Wednesday

News: Andy Greene notched one goal and one assist Wednesday against the Hurricanes.
Analysis: The Devils ended up losing 4-3, but Andy Greene continued his recent streak, and now has four points in his last three games. With 11 points in 25 games over all, now might be a good time to sell high on the veteran defenseman.

Devils' Greene Gathering Ample Minutes

News: Andy Greene is averaging 25:01 of ice time for the Devils this season.
Analysis: With several members of the Devils' blue line corps having nursed injuries at various points this season, Andy Greene has been the main beneficiary of their absences and appears poised to surpass his career-high average of 23:32 for a season if he continues to see heavy minutes. The increased playing time hasn't resulted in a bump in scoring for Greene, however, as he's scoring a rather ordinary six points over 18 games.

Devils' Greene Back To Scoring

News: Andy Greene notched a goal and an assist in Friday's shootout loss to Tampa Bay, giving him three points in the last two games.
Analysis: Andy Greene was red-hot in early February, but disappeared for about a month. He's been back in the habit of scoring the last week although he hasn't been the most consistent of players during his career. Greene will see more chances on the team's power play with Ilya Kovalchuk out for several weeks.

Devils' Greene Continues Strong Play

News: Andy Greene assisted on two of the Devils' three goals in Saturday's 3-1 win over Pittsburgh, giving him eight points in the last five games.
Analysis: Andy Greene has been one of the league's most productive players the last week and it wouldn't be a surprise if he starts to see top-line power play duty soon, usurping Marek Zidlicky. Of Greene's eight points, five have come on the power play and one has been shorthanded, giving him a bit more value in most leagues. Don't expect this prolific pace to continue, but Greene did put up 37 points three seasons ago, so there is the potential there for him to be a consistent scorer.

Devils' Greene Extends Streak To Four

News: Andy Greene notched a power-play goal and an assist in Thursday's win over Tampa Bay, giving him six points in the last four games.
Analysis: Andy Greene has been rather steady since failing to register a point in the Devils' first six games, putting up two goals and four helpers over the last four contests. Of his six points, four have come on the power play and he has one shorthanded goal to boot. Greene is three seasons removed from snagging 37 points and he appears to be finding some of that scoring touch. Consider him in deeper leagues that use multiple blue liners, as he is showing good chemistry with the team's scoring forwards.

Devils' Greene Notches Two Assists

News: Andy Greene had two helpers against the Islanders on Sunday. He also saw 20:50 of ice time and was a plus-2.
Analysis: A few years ago, Andy Greene had a nice season, but his value has fallen since then, and he's probably not going to put up many points in this shortened year.

New Jersey's Greene Plays Through Back Spasms

News: Andy Greene, who had been dealing with back spasms, played Tuesday, notching an assist in the process.
Analysis: Andy Greene, who saw 25 shifts Tuesday, was able to rack up 21:06 worth of ice time, so he looks fine going forward, barring any additional flare-ups with his back.

Devils' Greene Looks To Play Tuesday

News: Andy Greene, who missed Sunday's game due to back spasms, took part in all the pre-game warm-ups and looks set to play Tuesday against the Rangers, according to Tom Gulitti of The Bergen Record.
Analysis: Andy Greene, who's still looking for his first goal of the season, will skate with Mark Fayne on the Devils' top blue-line pairing.

New Jersey's Greene Dealing With Back Spasms

News: Andy Greene (back) was not on the ice for warmups prior to Sunday's game against the Islanders, The Newark Star-Ledger's Rich Chere reports.
Analysis: Andy Greene evidently is dealing with back spasms, so consider him day-to-day for now as he was a late scratch for Sunday's contest.

Devils' Greene: Points In Two Of Three

News: Andy Greene put up his second assist in three games, posting a helper in Thursday's shootout loss to St. Louis.
Analysis: Andy Greene won't do too much damage offensively, but he's been relatively active since the All-Star break with three assists over six games. Greene is worth a look in deeper leagues, he just won't score many goals.

Greene Returns In Devils' Win

News: Andy Greene grabbed an assist in Tuesday's win over the Rangers, his first game back in nearly two months due to a broken toe.
Analysis: Andy Greene played 22:55 in the win and should resume his usual role as New Jersey's minute-eating defenseman. Greene won't light up the scoreboard offensively, with ten assists in 24 games.

Devils' Greene Says He'll Play Tuesday

News: Andy Greene (toe) says he will play Tuesday against the Rangers, The Bergen Record's Tom Gulitti reports.
Analysis: Andy Greene isn't much of a goal scorer (only 15 goals in 314 career NHL games), but he can pass the puck (79 career assists). He is apparently ready to go and will play his first game in close to two months. You might want to see what he does in his return before throwing him into your lineup.

Devils' Greene Skates Tuesday

News: Andy Greene (toe) was on the ice Tuesday for the team's morning skate, The Bergen Record'sTom Gulitti reports.
Analysis: Devils beat writer Tom Gulitti speculated that Andy Greene could be available tonight against the Rangers, but it's a long shot. Greene has nine points (9 assists) in 23 games this season, but it wouldn't be wise to rush him back into your fantasy lineup. It's more likely that he'll make his return from a December 6 injury on Thursday against Montreal.

Greene To Practice With Devils After Break

News: Andy Greene (broken foot) continues to skate and will practice with the team after the All-Star break, according to the Bergen Record's Tom Gulitti. He will not play Tuesday against the Rangers.
Analysis: Andy Greene has been progressing as expecting after suffering a broken bone in his big toe and should rejoin the Devils later in the week following the All-Star break. It has been confirmed that he will not play in the team's first game after the break, but a return should not be far away. Greene has been limited in his offensive effectiveness this season, putting up nine assists and no goals in 23 games.

Devils' Greene Skating On Own

News: Andy Greene (broken foot) skated on his own Wednesday and is progressing in his rehabilitation, the Bergen Record's Tom Gulitti reports.
Analysis: Andy Greene is still several weeks away from returning to the ice, but he has begun skating on his own. Odds are he will return sometime in early February as he regains his strength.

Devils' Greene Likely Out Two More Weeks

News: Andy Greene (foot) will likely be out another two weeks, Tom Gulitti of The Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: Andy Greene is on track to return around the later end of his 4-to-6 week estimated absence. He'll regain his spot among the top six defenders once his foot has completely healed.

Greene Still In Boot For Devils

News: Andy Greene (broken toe) is still in a walking boot and should be for another week, the Bergen Record's Tom Gulitti reports.
Analysis: Andy Greene played several weeks with the fractured toe and will begin skating within two weeks as the team wants the bone to heal before Greene returns to action. Greene had nine assists in 23 games before suffering the injury.
