Stars' Peverley (Chest) Moved To Long-Term IR

News: Rich Peverley was moved to long-term injured reserve Monday, Mark Stepneski of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Rich Peverley's move was simply to give the team extra cap space with the rash of injuries and call-ups. He currently still has no timetable for return after suffering a cardiac issue last March. He was told he should be able to play again at some point this season, but it remains to be seen whether that will actually occur.

Stars Place Peverley On Non-Roster Injury List

News: Rich Peverley (chest) was placed on the Stars' non-roster injury list Tuesday.
Analysis: Rich Peverley remains limited to off-ice conditioning work as he seeks to return from the cardiac emergency he suffered last March in a game against the Blue Jackets. The Stars have no timetable for his return and likely aren't counting on getting any major contributions from him this season.

Stars' Peverley Cleared To Work Out

News: Stars GM Jim Nill said that Rich Peverley has been cleared to work out, but not to go on the ice, according to Mark Stepneski of NHL.com.
Analysis: Earlier this summer Rich Peverley was told he should be able to play this season, which had previously been in question after he suffered a cardiac incident during a March 10 game against the Blue Jackets. There is not yet a timetable for his return.

Stars' Peverley Could Return Next Season

News: One doctor has already told Rich Peverley (chest) that he would be able to play next season, Andy Strickland of FOX Sports Midwest reports.
Analysis: Rich Peverley's career remains in limbo after he suffered a cardiac incident during a Mar. 10 game against the Blue Jackets, resulting in him missing the remainder of the season. He'll take the summer to recuperate while continuing to meet with doctors to outline a possible timetable for his return.

Stars' Peverley Underwent Surgery Tuesday

News: Rich Peverley underwent successful surgery to correct an abnormal heart rhythm on Tuesday.
Analysis: Rich Peverley was released from the hospital Wednesday and is expected back in Dallas on Thursday, but the team will monitor him closely, which certainly makes sense given the nature of the issue. The 31-year-old collapsed during a game last week, and he thanked doctors afterward for saving his life. He's already been ruled out for the season and the team hasn't made a decision on his ability to return to hockey participation.

Stars' Peverley Released From Hospital

News: Rich Peverley (chest) has been released from the hospital, NHL.com's Mark Stepneski reports.
Analysis: Though he can now resume resting comfortably back at home, Rich Peverley will still undergo a season-ending heart procedure to correct the irregular heartbeat that caused him to collapse on the bench during Monday's game vs. the Blue Jackets. Peverley will have to await clearance from doctors before he begins working out again, but he's expected to continue his playing career after this season.

Stars' Peverely Will Miss Remainder Of Season

News: Rich Peverley will miss the remainder of the season after collapsing in a game on Monday, according to NHL.com.
Analysis: In a press conference Wednesday Rich Peverley thanked the doctors who treated him for saving his life. He will have a "procedure on his heart" in Cleveland soon. Everyone is just glad he's up and about. Monday's game was a scary moment for everyone on the bench and those watching the game.

Stars' Peverley 'Doing Well' After Scary Incident

News: Rich Peverley (irregular heartbeat) is "doing well" after collapsing on the bench in Monday's game against the Blue Jackets, TSN.ca reports.
Analysis: Rich Peverley, 31, is said to be resting comfortably in a Dallas hospital after undergoing successful treatment for a cardiac event. The forward will continue to be monitored closely over the next few days as doctors look to determine if he's dealing with a different type of arrhythmia than the pre-existing condition was already known. The Stars will resume action Tuesday against the Blues without Peverley, who should be considered out indefinitely.

Stars' Peverley Successfully Treated

News: Rich Peverley was successfully treated for a cardiac issue Monday, the Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Rich Peverley missed the entire preseason because of an irregular heartbeat, then sat out last Tuesday's game due to a recurrence of the same issue. He escaped Monday's scary incident and reportedly even asked about returning to the game, which was postponed shortly after Peverley collapsed on the bench. Given the serious nature of what happened, the veteran forward could be facing a prolonged absence.

Stars' Peverley Collapses On Bench

News: Rich Peverley is conscious and headed to the hospital after collapsing on the bench during Monday's game, Sportsnet 590's Daren Millard reports.
Analysis: Rich Peverley, who has previously dealt with complications from an irregular heartbeat, collapsed on the bench during Monday's game, creating a sense of panic among the Stars' other players. Fortunately, Peverley regained consciousness in the following minutes and is headed to a hospital for further evaluation. He seems to be out of immediate danger, but may still be dealing with a very serious health situation.

Peverley Loving Top Line Role On Stars

News: Rich Peverley had an assist and a shot in Saturday's win over Minnesota.
Analysis: The numbers aren't gaudy, but he's got three assists over the last two games and is playing on a line with Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin who have combined for six goals and nine assists over the last four games. His powerplay time isn't on that top unit, but he's still seeing a lot of time on one of the hottest lines in the league right now. If you roll the dice on Rich Peverley — who has seven goals and 23 assists this season — keep an eye on the depth chart. He's worth much less if he's taken off this line.

Stars' Peverly Looks Ready To Play Thursday

News: Rich Peverley (upper body) took part in morning skate and should be available for Thursday's game against the Canucks, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Rich Peverley missed the Stars' previous game with an upper-body injury, but his presence at morning skate suggests he's no longer plagued by the ailment. He skated on the top line with Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin during the morning and figures to play there against Vancouver.

Stars' Peverley Day-To-Day

News: Rich Peverley will miss Tuesday's game against the Blue Jackets with an upper-body injury, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Heika adds that Rich Peverley's injury appears to be minor and the forward is listed as day-to-day. With Peverley -- who has 27 points in 60 games to date -- now banged up, the Stars have recalled Chris Mueller to boost their depth up front.

Stars' Peverley Continuing Steady Play

News: Rich Peverley has seven goals and 20 assists in 57 games this season.
Analysis: Rich Peverley is having a decent season playing alongside Cody Eakin and Erik Cole on the Stars' second line. He'll continue to see time on the second power play unit moving forward as well.

Stars' Peverley Good To Go Saturday

News: Rich Peverley (illness) will be in the lineup Saturday vs. the Red Wings, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Rich Peverley is one of three Stars forwards that has dealt with illness in recent days, but he won't be forced to miss any game action because of it. The forward has contributed three assists over his last four games and will suit up as the third-line center Saturday.

Stars' Peverley Misses Practice Friday

News: Rich Peverley missed Friday's practice for the Stars with the flu.
Analysis: Rich Peverley has played in 39 games this season for the Stars and has 18 points on five goals and 13 assists. He is dealing with a bout of the flu that is affecting multiple Stars players and he should be considered questionable for Saturday's game against the Red Wings.

Stars' Peverley Scores Goal In Loss

News: Rich Peverley scored his fifth goal of the season during the Stars' 2-1 shootout loss to the Blackhawks on Friday.
Analysis: Peverely opened the scoring fairly early in the first period and it looked as if it would hold up as the game-winner until the Hawks tied it up in the third. He did his best to bring the win home by matching Chicago's goal in the shootout, but was left standing on the side as the Blackhawks won 10 shots later. Rich Peverley has now tallied a point in each of his last three games and has five goals and seven assists through 23 games this season.

Stars' Peverley Moved to Third Line

News: Rich Peverley skated on the third line in Monday's 4-3 win over Buffalo.
Analysis: Eric Cole was promoted to the top line, and that line produced four goals on the night, so one would expect it to remain intact for at least one more game. That means Rich Peverley will likely stay in a bottom-six role for the time being.

Dallas' Peverley Skates On Top Line

News: Rich Peverley collected one assist in Dallas' 4-1 win on Friday in his debut skating on the top line.
Analysis: The top line was dominant throughout, though Rich Peverley didn't reap the immediate benefits. He'll continue to skate on that line as long as it remains effective, so there should be ample chance for Peverley to cash in on his linemates' success.

Stars' Peverley Could Get Look On Top Line

News: Rich Peverley saw top-line duty in Tuesday's practice and could slot in there Friday against Winnipeg, the team's official website reports. "I think it kind of balances the size out on the lines," coach Lindy Ruff said. "We talked about it again [Wednesday] and we'll talk about it again [Thursday] morning, but I think it's a look we are going to take a peek at."
Analysis: It sounds like Ruff will at least give Rich Peverley a trial on the Stars' top line in the team's upcoming games, but the real question is how long he'll stick there. If the move becomes a permanent one this season, it would obviously be a huge boost to Peverley's fantasy value playing alongside Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin.

Bruins' Peverley Expected To Play Saturday

News: Rich Peverley (irregular heartbeat) is expected to make his season debut Saturday against the Capitals, NHL.com's Mark Stepneski reports.
Analysis: Although it was initially feared Rich Peverley would be out for the first couple weeks of the season, it looks as though he'll only miss one game as he begins a new chapter of his career with the Stars. Peverley saw his per-game averages dip considerably last season with the Bruins but he could ultimately ascend to a second-line role with the Stars once he gets a few games in and would likely notice improved production as a result.

Stars' Peverley (Irregular Heartbeat) Expected To Miss Opener

News: Rich Peverley (irregular heartbeat) is expected to miss at least the first game of the regular season for the Stars, the Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Rich Peverley is just nearing the end of Week 2 at what was projected to be a three-week recovery timetable from the heart procedure he underwent Sept. 13. Though the Stars don't have a firm date for his return, Peverley isn't expected to miss more than a game or two beyond the opener, if that. In any case, the Stars will likely limit his ice time in the early going due the conditioning drills he's missed out on, so it may not be until mid-October before Peverley is unleashed in full.

Stars' Peverley Out Three Weeks After Heart Procedure

News: Rich Peverley will miss three weeks after undergoing a procedure to correct an irregular heartbeat, Dallas Stars Inside Edge reports.
Analysis: "We sent him to a specialist and it ended up he had an (atrial fibrillation) condition, which is where the heart gets out of rhythm," Stars general manager Jim Nill said. "He had a procedure done. He's going to be out for three weeks and should be available close to the start of the season, might miss one or two games." Fortunately for Rich Peverley, the Stars' medical staff caught this one early and was able to take care of it before it developed into anything more serious. It sounds like he won't miss much - if any - regular season action, but you'll want to keep in mind that he'll probably be a tad rusty when he returns after missing most of training camp.

Stars' Peverley Out Thursday

News: Rich Peverley will not practice Thursday after his physical revealed a blip on his EKG, the Dallas Morning News' Mike Heika reports.
Analysis: An EKG, or electrocardiogram, is a test designed to detect problems with the electrical activity of the heart. A blip can often be nothing more than a minor hiccup, but the Stars will investigate this to determine that there is nothing more serious going on. Consider him day-to-day for now.

B's Send Peverley To Dallas In Blockbuster Deal

News: Rich Peverley was traded to the Stars in a seven-player deal Thursday, TSN's Darren Dreger reports.
Analysis: Rich Peverley spent most of the 2012-13 campaign on the Bruins' third line, producing a modest 18 points over 47 games. His $3.25 million cap hit for next season hastened his departure from Boston, but the 30-year-old Peverley has the speed and puck skills to bounce back in his new gig with the Stars.
