Isles' Halak Enters Net Thursday

News: Jaroslav Halak will be in the crease for Thursday's game against the Predators, Arthur Staple of Newsday reports.
Analysis: Jaroslav Halak might be starting to feel some more pressure on his job security after the Isles acquired Michal Neuvirth from Buffalo at Monday's deadline, but he'll still enter the net for the second straight game since the trade. Though his season ratios (2.47 GAA, .911 save percentage) aren't spectacular, Halak has ridden a productive supporting cast to a 33-13-1 record. Only two goalies have recorded more wins than him in 2014-15, with one of them being the Preds' Pekka Rinne, who he is expected to square off against Thursday. The Predators rank second in the NHL with 89 points, but the team is in the midst of its worst slump of the season, losing four straight games entering Thursday's tilt.

Isles' Halak Takes First OT Loss

News: Jaroslav Halak lost in overtime for the first time all year Tuesday, giving up three goals on 35 shots against the Stars.
Analysis: It wasn't a bad effort by any means by Jaroslav Halak, who had made 46 starts without losing in overtime before Cody Eakin beat him at the 2:18 mark of the extra frame. Ten of those 46 games had gone to OT or require a shootout, and he'd won all of them. Nonetheless, Halak has been generally reliable all year, particularly in the wins category, and that should persist down the stretch.

Isles Turn To Halak On Tuesday

News: Jaroslav Halak will start Tuesday's game against the Stars.
Analysis: While Jaroslav Halak's position as the Islanders' top goalie is secure, the team's addition of Michal Neuvirth at the trade deadline represents an upgrade at the backup position and gives the team a reliable option to spell Halak down the stretch run.

Islanders' Halak Makes 26 Saves In Win

News: Jaroslav Halak made 26 saves on 27 shots in Friday's win over the Flames.
Analysis: Jaroslav Halak now owns an impressive 33-13-0 record on the season with a .911 save percentage and 2.46 GAA. While his rate stats could use some improvement, Halak's ability to win almost every game makes him one of the best fantasy options around.

Islanders' Halak To Start Against Flames

News: Jaroslav Halak will start Friday's game against the Flames, Shannon Hogan of MSG Networks reports.
Analysis: Jaroslav Halak and Chad Johnson have alternated games over the last week and a half, but it seems the schedule is at least partly to blame. While it's too early to consider this a timeshare, Halak could certainly use a nice outing Friday night.

Isles' Halak Gives Up Three Goals In Loss

News: Jaroslav Halak gave up three goals on 23 shots in Sunday's loss to the Canucks.
Analysis: It was the second loss in three games for Jaroslav Halak, who has given up 14 goals in his last four appearances. While he's had a few lackluster outings of late, don't panic, as Halak still owns an impressive 32-13-0 record on the season. If you're looking for strong win totals and decent rate stats, Halak is your man.

Isles' Halak To Start Sunday

News: Jaroslav Halak will start in goal Sunday against the Canucks.
Analysis: Jaroslav Halak stopped 30 of the 32 shots he faced in his last outing Thursday against the Predator en route to his 32nd win of the season. He got the day off Saturday for the first of back-to-back games, but will sit in the crease against the Canucks on Sunday.

Halak Stops 30 As Isles Roll

News: Jaroslav Halak made 30 saves on 32 shots in a 5-2 win over the Predators on Thursday.
Analysis: The Isles achieved the unlikely feat of getting to Nashville netminder Pekka Rinne five times, and Jaroslav Halak showed his gratitude by holding down his end of the bargain. After getting tagged for six goals Monday against the Rangers, he's popped right back into the win column for the sixth time in his last seven starts.

Isles Turn To Halak On Thursday

News: Jaroslav Halak will start Thursday's game against the Predators.
Analysis: Jaroslav Halak returns to the Isles' net after giving way to Chad Johnson in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Hurricanes. In his last start, Halak allowed six goals to the Rangers on Monday, but prior to that he had reeled off five straight wins, while allowing 11 goals in that span.

Isles' Halak Allows Six In Loss

News: Jaroslav Halak made 36 saves, but allowed six goals in Sunday's 6-5 loss to the Rangers.
Analysis: Jaroslav Halak entered Monday's contest on a roll, winning five straight while only allowing 11 goals in that span, so he gets a pass for a bad outing against one of the top scoring teams in the league. His GAA and save percentage aren't quite in the top tier of the league, but he's third in wins at 31-12-0 and should continue to pile up the victories behind the talented Islanders offense.

Isles' Halak Starts Monday

News: Jaroslav Halak will start in goal Monday against the Rangers.
Analysis: Jaroslav Halak turned aside 34 of the 37 shots he faced in Saturday's game versus the Blue Jackets en route to his fifth straight victory. He will look for number six Monday, but will face another stiff offense in the Rangers.

Isles' Halak Rides Offense To Win

News: Jaroslav Halak stopped 34 of 37 shots in Saturday's 6-3 victory over the Blue Jackets.
Analysis: The game didn't feature much defense, as the two teams combined to put 74 shots on net. Jaroslav Halak did enough to keep his team even through the first two periods, then watched as John Tavares and company blitzed the Columbus net for three unanswered tallies in the third period. The netminder has now won five consecutive starts.

Isles To Start Halak On Saturday

News: Jaroslav Halak will be in goal for Saturday's game against the Blue Jackets.
Analysis: In defeating the Maple Leafs on Thursday, Jaroslav Halak became the third goalie this season to reach the 30-win plateau, joining the Preds' Pekka Rinne and the Habs' Carey Price. Halak is not in the same class as those goaltenders in terms of ability, but with a strong cast of talent surrounding him and backup Chad Johnson not posing a threat to his job, he's still clearly an upper-tier fantasy option in goal. The netminder will take aim at his fifth straight victory Saturday.

Isles' Halak Earns Win No. 30

News: Jaroslav Halak stopped 32 of 34 shots Thursday against the Leafs to pick up his 30th win of the season.
Analysis: With just 11 losses accompanying that pile of victories, Jaroslav Halak has been a fantasy find for owners who were optimistic about him on the Island. We could still ask for more consistent rate stats, but he's an every-game start nonetheless. And, oh yeah, he's won four straight.

Isles Roll With Halak

News: Jaroslav Halak will start Thursday's game against the Leafs.
Analysis: Jaroslav Halak, who has won three straight, now gets a crack at a struggling Toronto squad that has has dropped 12-of-13 decisions, a matchup that makes him a worthy target in daily formats.

Halak's 34 Stops Gets Isles Past Oilers

News: Jaroslav Halak turned away 34 of 36 shots Tuesday in a 3-2 win over Edmonton.
Analysis: That's three consecutive wins for Jaroslav Halak, although the last two weren't very impressive, considering that his defense allowed only 28 shots on goal over two games and he stopped just 24 of them. He appeared to benefit from the extra work in this one, and has seemingly often been at his best when the Isles' opposition keeps him bust. Halak's rate stats aren't the best, but he racks up wins, and his fantasy owners won't complain about that.

Islanders Start Halak On Tuesday

News: Jaroslav Halak will start Tuesday's game against the Oilers.
Analysis: Jaroslav Halak is thus slated to make his 40th start of the season against an Edmonton squad that is in last place in the Western Conference with 39 points, but coming off a 2-1 win over New Jersey on Monday.

News: Jaroslav Halak will be between the pipes for Sunday's game against the Sabres.

Isles' Halak Has It Easy In Win

News: Jaroslav Halak stopped eight of 10 shots in Sunday's win over Buffalo.
Analysis: It was an easy outing for Jaroslav Halak, who picked up his 28th win -- fourth most in the NHL. His save percentage has fallen to .910, but he's still one of the most winningest goaltender around. Keep him rolling, as the Islanders are sitting pretty with 69 points -- fourth most in the Eastern Conference.

Halak, Isles Come Away With Shootout Win

News: Jaroslav Halak stopped 16 of 18 shots and came away with a 3-2 win in a seven-round shootout Thursday against the Flyers.
Analysis: This is an important win for Jaroslav Halak and the Isles, as the team had lost three straight. Halak's still posted sub-.900 save marks in six of his last seven outings, so he's not out of the water yet, but it's nice for his fantasy owners to see him back in the win column.

Islanders' Halak Starts Thursday

News: Jaroslav Halak will be in goal for Thursday's game against the Flyers.
Analysis: Jaroslav Halak will look to get back on track Thursday after dropping his last two starts. He will face off against a Philadelphia squad that he has already beaten twice this season: a 7-4 victory Jan. 19 and a 1-0 shootout win Nov. 24.

Halak Allows Three As Isles Drop Third Straight

News: Jaroslav Halak gave up three goals on 29 shots in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to the Panthers.
Analysis: It's the second straight loss for Jaroslav Halak and the third in a row for the Isles, who have seen their offense slow down and their lead dwindle in what's become a tight Metropolitan Division race. Halak's been a great source of fantasy production overall this year, but has been tagged for 18 goals in his last five games.

Isles' Halak Starting Tuesday

News: Jaroslav Halak will start Tuesday's game against the Panthers, Newsday's Arthur Staple reports.
Analysis: Chad Johnson got the nod Sunday in Detroit, but Jaroslav Halak will return to net for a seventh time in eight games. While suffering through a bit of a slump, Halak has mostly been successful this season, and Tuesday's matchup is quite favorable.

Isles' Halak Takes Step Back Thursday

News: Jaroslav Halak was tagged for four goals on 32 shots in Thursday's loss to the Bruins.
Analysis: After looking unbeatable Tuesday against the Rangers, Jaroslav Halak looked quite human in this one. He's now allowed four or more goals in three of his last four starts, which is a bit concerning, but overall Halak's been a boon to fantasy owners, particularly in the wins category.

Islanders' Halak Gets The Nod Thursday

News: Jaroslav Halak will be in goal for Thursday's game against the Bruins.
Analysis: Jaroslav Halak will look to keep thing rolling after giving up just one goal in a victory over the Rangers on Tuesday. He will square off against a Boston team that has lost just once in regulation during January, but has been held to three goals or fewer in all but one of those games.
