Jackets' Johnson Collects Two Helpers

News: Jack Johnson picked up a pair of assists and was a plus-3 in Friday's win over the Sabres.
Analysis: That's three points and a plus-5 rating in two games for Jack Johnson, who is now up to 39 points in 78 games on the season. He's been producing consistently since mid-March and will have a chance to reach the 40-point barrier for the first time since 2010-11 when the Blue Jackets close out their regular season Saturday against the Islanders.

Jackets' Johnson Takes Ice For Warmups

News: Jack Johnson (illness) is on the ice for pregame warmups and appears in line to play Thursday against the Islanders.
Analysis: The illness prevented Jack Johnson from skating in the morning with the rest of the team, but it appears the extra hours off were all he needed to regain health. Barring a late setback in warmups, he'll slot in at his familiar spot on the Jackets' top defensive pairing.

Blue Jackets' Johnson a Game-Time Call

News: Jack Johnson (illness) is a game-time decision for Thursday's contest against the Islanders, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: If Jack Johnson -- who is feeling under the weather -- can't play Thursday night, Justin Falk would be in line to move into the team's lineup for the contest.

Jackets' Johnson Nabs Game Winner Tuesday

News: Jack Johnson supplied the game-winning goal in Tuesday's overtime victory over the Devils.
Analysis: The backhanded tally was Jack Johnson's seventh of the season, which represents his highest total for a season since 2011-12. The blueliner is still sitting on an ugly minus-16 rating, but with three points in his last four games -- all of which have been Columbus victories -- he should make for a solid activation.

Jackets' Johnson Sets Up Goal In Win

News: Jack Johnson set up Mark Letestu's game-tying goal in an eventual shootout victory over the Oilers on Wednesday.
Analysis: Jack Johnson is just two points of besting last season's mark of 33, and will more than likely finish with the second-best scoring total of his career when 2014-15 comes to a close. Unfortunately, the Jackets' collective struggles this season have inhibited his fantasy value a bit, as he's currently sitting on a minus-18 rating. Johnson has also had difficulty finding the net of late, as he's without a goal since Jan. 29.

Jackets' Johnson Sets Up Goal On Man Advantage

News: Jack Johnson picked up a power-play assist Sunday, but it wasn't enough as the Blue Jackets lost to the Penguins, 5-3.
Analysis: With 23 helpers on the season, Jack Johnson is quite the skilled passer from the blue line. However, it's worth knowing if your league counts stats for plus/minus, as Johnson is a liability in that area at minus-18.

Blue Jackets' Johnson Heavily Involved In Loss

News: Jack Johnson racked up an assist, four hits and a blocked shot in Monday's 4-3 loss to the Kings.
Analysis: Jack Johnson is a decent contributor with the puck, but you have to take the good with the bad. He isn't afraid to lay the smash on opponents and fight for loose pucks, and has seen his offense spike upward this season as a result. However, he's minus-17 on the year, which is cringe-worthy for leagues counting that stat.

Jackets' Johnson Notches Goal Thursday

News: Jack Johnson netted a goal in Thursday's loss to the Panthers.
Analysis: Jack Johnson is holding down a half-point-per-game scoring pace (23 points in 44 contests) for just the second time in his career. However, the production has been often muted by his ghastly minus-23 rating, which ranks as the third-worst mark in the NHL. Players on truly awful squads like the Sabres and Oilers are surrounding him in that category, and while the Jackets aren't quite as bad as those teams, they're probably not good enough for Johnson to notice much recovery in that category in the second half.

Jackets' Johnson Bags Fourth Goal

News: Jack Johnson notched his fourth goal of the season in Saturday's loss to the Islanders.
Analysis: With 20 points through 37 games, Jack Johnson is on track to submit his best offensive season since 2010-11. Unfortunately, those efforts have been bogged down by a minus-21 rating, a mark that doesn't figure to rise dramatically while the Blue Jackets look to be one of the weaker teams in the Eastern Conference.

Jackets' Johnson Assists Twice

News: Jack Johnson gathered two assists and finished with a plus-2 rating in Saturday's 6-2 victory over the Bruins.
Analysis: It was one of the rare occasions in which Jack Johnson has been on the positive side of the plus/minus ledger, as his minus-20 rating for the season still ranks last in the league. While the Blue Jackets are far from a buzzsaw, it's hard to imagine Johnson's rating taking a much steeper hit, and given the volatile nature of the statistic, it could even rebound from here. The ugly minus-20 mark still hasn't drained Johnson of value, as he's on pace for a career-best 46-point season on the strength of his prowess on the power play, where he's collected 13 of his 18 points.

Jackets' Johnson Extends Point Streak Saturday

News: Jack Johnson scored his second goal of the season in Saturday's 4-3 shootout win over the Penguins, extending his point streak to four games.
Analysis: The Blue Jackets are on fire right now, winning six straight games, and Jack Johnson is reaping the benefits. The defenseman now has 14 points in 26 games on the season, although his atrocious minus-18 rating makes him tough to roster.

Jackets' Johnson Scores First Goal Of The Season

News: Jack Johnson scored the equalizer in the third period of Friday's eventual 4-3 shootout loss to the Bruins.
Analysis: It was his first goal of the season, but with eight points in 16 games, Jack Johnson is actually on pace for his best season since 2010-2011. His decision to file for bankruptcy made headlines, but it doesn't seem like it will affect his performance.

Jackets' Johnson Declares Bankruptcy

News: Jack Johnson has filed for bankruptcy, the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Piles of debt after years of financial mismanagement by Jack Johnson's parents, to whom he'd given control of his earnings, have apparently left the defenseman with no other options. A court hearing on the matter is scheduled for January. Johnson has seven points, all assists, and an ugly minus-12 rating through 15 games but the latter is mostly due to the patchwork nature of the Jackets' lineup around him rather than his off-ice troubles.

Jackets' Johnson Due Back Friday

News: Jack Johnson (suspension) will return to the Columbus lineup Friday against the Flyers.
Analysis: With Jack Johnson's three-game suspension now completed, he'll be cleared to reclaim his usual spot on the team's top pairing. The veteran blueliner hasn't been much of an asset for fantasy owners thus far, posting no goals, five assists and a minus-11 rating over 12 games.

Blue Jackets' Johnson Suspended Three Games

News: Jack Johnson was suspended three games for his illegal hit to the head on Carolina's Jiri Tlusty on Tuesday, Shawn Mitchell of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Jack Johnson was hoping that his career track record of relatively clean play would allow him to avoid a suspension, but the NHL Department of Player Safety determined that the hit was too vicious to go unpunished. In addition to missing the rematch against Carolina on Friday, Johnson will sit out contests Saturday and Tuesday versus the Lightning and Capitals, respectively. He'll be eligible to return to the ice Nov. 14 against the Flyers.

Jackets' Johnson Could Face Suspension

News: Jack Johnson will have a hearing with the NHL's Department of Player Safety on Wednesday, Chris Johnston of Sportsnet reports.
Analysis: Jack Johnson delivered a blindside hit to the head of Carolina's Jiri Tlusty in Tuesday's game, with Tlusty unable to return to the game after exiting the ice. The blueliner was only assessed a two-minute penalty for the hit, but the league office seems to be seriously considering a suspension. Johnson will receive the opportunity to give his interpretation of the incident before the Department of Player Safety renders a decision, which will almost certainly come down before the Blue Jackets and Hurricanes get together for a rematch in Carolina on Friday.

Jackets' Johnson Picks Up Two Helpers In Loss

News: Jack Johnson assisted on both of Ryan Johansen's goals Tuesday, but also went minus-3 in the 4-2 loss to Dallas.
Analysis: Despite these points, the early returns have not been very good for Jack Johnson, as he's gone minus-6 over the first three games of the year and has taken just three shots on net. The former No. 3 overall pick has never quite lived up to the billing, so owners who want the points he can provide are just going to have to deal with the plus-minus liability.

Jackets' Johnson Finishes Postseason On Hot Note

News: Jack Johnson provided two assists in Monday's series-ending defeat to the Penguins.
Analysis: Though he'll only end up playing six games in the playoffs, Jack Johnson might end up going down as the difference-maker for those in postseason fantasy leagues. After posting 33 points in 82 games during the regular season, Johnson exploded for three goals and four assists in the six-game series. He'll return to Columbus next season to serve on the team's top pairing.

Blue Jackets' Johnson Lights The Lamp

News: Jack Johnson scored a goal in a Game 3 loss to the Penguins on Monday.
Analysis: Jack Johnson has scored a goal in every playoff game so far, and has an assist as well. This is a continuation of Johnson's solid play to end the regular season.

Jackets' Johnson Adds Goal, Assist In Loss

News: Jack Johnson collected a goal and an assist in Wednesday's 4-3 loss to the Penguins.
Analysis: The Jackets dropped Game 1 on the road, but Jack Johnson picked up two points to move his career playoff total to 12 in 12 games. The Penguins have a tendency to give up a lot of postseason goals, so look for Johnson to continue to contribute as the series continues.

Johnson On Jackets' Scoreboard Again

News: Jack Johnson notched an assist on the lone Columbus goal in Friday's 2-1 loss to Pittsburgh.
Analysis: Jack Johnson has three assists in his last five games, but had been a bit quiet overall in the weeks following the Olympic break. He's going to see plenty of power-play time for the average Jackets attack and should clear 30 points on the season.

Jackets' Johnson: First Point In Seven Games

News: Jack Johnson picked up an assist Saturday in a win over Minnesota. It's his first point in seven games.
Analysis: He has 26 points in 67 games. You wanted more. We expected more. Both of us are tired. Maybe the team USA brass knew something we didn't when they left this so-called stud off their Olympic team. Use him if you must, but don't expect much.

Jackets' Johnson: Three-Assist Night

News: Jack Johnson set up three goals, including one on the power play, in Saturday's win over Florida. He has four assists in two games since the Olympic break.
Analysis: He has struggled to produce decent offensive numbers in Ohio, so this is a nice little burst. We're not convinced things are truly opening up for him, but the output will be a welcome relief to owners who've been waiting on him.

Jackets' Johnson Contributing

News: Jack Johnson has four goals and 17 assists in 58 games to date.
Analysis: The blueliner has been scoring on a pretty consistent basis this season, and has even added 40 PIM. He'll look to pick up where he left off when NHL games resume.

Jackets' Johnson Raking In Assists

News: Jack Johnson assisted on two of Columbus's five goals in Friday's win over Washington, giving him five assists in the last three games.
Analysis: Jack Johnson has seen his name on the scoresheet much the last week while Columbus has found the net more often. He's the team's on-ice leader and creating more offense. He's a solid buy-low target as he is likely available in most leagues. Johnson has a track record of production and could turn around his season.
