Almond Signs With Wild

News: Cody Almond has signed a one-year, $550,000 deal with the Wild, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports.
Analysis: Cody Almond, who has two goals in 25 NHL games to his credit, has spent the last two seasons in Switzerland. He returns to the Wild on a one-way deal to bolster the team's forward depth and flexibility, given that he can play both center and wing.

News: Cody Almond has left the Wild and signed with a team in the Swiss League, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Cody Almond played in 25 games over the past three seasons with the Wild, with a high of 10 coming this past season. After only two career NHL goals, Almond will hope to fare better in Switzerland, where he will play for the Geneva based team, Servette.

News: Cody Almond has been recalled from AHL Houston on emergency conditions, and will play Sunday at Chicago, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Center Warren Peters was injured in Saturday night's game and will be unable to play on Sunday, so Cody Almond got the emergency call and should see some ice time against the Blackhawks. In nine games with the Wild this season, Almond has one goal on five shots.

News: Wild C Cody Almond tipped in his first NHL goal with 41.5 seconds left of Sunday's OT loss to the Canucks.
Analysis: Almond, the Wild’s fifth round pick (140th overall) in 2007, was a bit of a disappointment in his first AHL season with just 18 points in 48 games. He did manage to pick up 77 PIM though, which should interest owners in long-term Fantasy keeper leagues that reward bad behavior. He remains unworthy of ownership for now, however

News: The Wild have assigned C Cody Almond and G Anton Khudobin to the AHL.
Analysis: Almond, a fifth-round pick from 2007, did well in the WHL and is currently in the middle of his first AHL campaign (15 pts, 43 PIM in 33 games). He has no Fantasy value at this time. Khudobin, a seventh-round pick from 2004, is a promising 23-year-old, but might have to wait a while for a spot in the NHL. Continue to ignore him in Fantasy play, too.
