Flames' Hiller Takes Loss Friday

News: Jonas Hiller took the loss Friday, stopping 19 of 21 shots as the Flames fell 2-1 to the Stars.
Analysis: Jonas Hiller has started five of the last six games for the Flames, failing to record a single victory during that time. The Flames have been in a tailspin of late, losing their last seven games in a row, so owners may want to keep Hiller and fellow Flames goalie Karri Ramo stapled to their bench until they figure out how to get back in the win column.

Flames Rolling With Hiller On Friday

News: Jonas Hiller will receive the start in goal Friday against the Stars.
Analysis: With Karri Ramo absent from Thursday's practice due to an illness and uncertain to be availalbe Friday, it was an easy decision for coach Bob Hartley to tap Jonas Hiller for his third start in four games. While Hiller has been unable to snap a losing streak for the Flames that now sits at six games, he's at least outperformed the struggling Ramo recently, stopping a respectable 91.8 percent of the shots he's faced over his last four appearances. The Flames will play their second game of a back-to-back set Saturday, but if Ramo's not healthy by then, look for Hiller to get the call again.

Flames' Hiller Solid In Loss

News: Jonas Hiller stopped 26 of 28 shots in Sunday's 2-1 loss to the Blackhawks.
Analysis: Jonas Hiller has now lost five straight, but he's only been given three goals of offensive production from his mates in the last three combined. The loss drops him to 9-9-1, but he's been given the nod in net three of the last four games over Kari Ramo. The 32-year-old sports a 2.48 GAA and save percentage of .913.

Flames Start Hiller

News: Jonas Hiller will start in net against the Blackhawks on Sunday, Derek Willis of Sportsnet 960 the FAN reports.
Analysis: Jonas Hiller allowed three goals on 22 shots Friday against the Penguins, but will receive the start again Sunday. He has fallen behind Karri Ramo for the starting gig, but will inexplicably receive a second straight start despite the poor performance Friday. Hiller will carry a 2.50 GAA and .912 save percentage into the matchup.

Flames' Hiller Gives Up Three In Loss

News: Jonas Hiller gave up three goals on 22 shots in Friday's loss to the Penguins.
Analysis: It was the fourth straight loss for Jonas Hiller, who drops to 9-8-1 on the season. While both Hiller and Karri Ramo have struggled to win games lately, Rammo has arguably been the better goaltender this season. The two will likely continue to split starting duties, as the Flames are in the playoff picture, sitting seventh in the Western Conference. With a 9.12 save percentage and 2.50 GAA, Hiller presents a decent, but not spectacular, fantasy option in the Flames' crease.

Flames To Start Hiller Friday

News: Jonas Hiller will start in net against the Penguins on Friday, Derek Willis of Sportsnet 960 the FAN reports.
Analysis: Jonas Hiller has fallen behind Karri Ramo for the Flames' primary goaltending duties, but was solid in his last outing against Toronto, saving 25 of the 27 shots he faced. Ramo will receive the start Thursday against Buffalo, leaving Hiller to grab the back end of back-to-back games against a high-powered Penguins team.

Hiller Solid, But Flames Fall To Leafs

News: Jonas Hiller saved 25 of 27 shots Tuesday in Toronto, but was stuck with a 4-1 loss thanks to two empty-net goals.
Analysis: Jonathan Bernier was masterful on the other end, leaving Jonas Hiller with his third consecutive defeat despite a solid night. Of course, it was also his first start since Nov. 25, as Karri Ramo has largely taken over primary goaltending duties for the Flames.

Flames' Hiller Will Start Tuesday

News: Jonas Hiller will start Tuesday's game against the Maple Leafs, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet reports.
Analysis: Jonas Hiller hasn't made an appearance since Nov. 25, and recorded losses in each of his last two starts. He'll need to play well Tuesday if he wants to make up some ground on Karri Ramo, who appears to have taken hold of the starting job at this point.

Flames' Hiller Riding The Pine

News: Jonas Hiller has not started the previous four games and is unlikely to start Saturday's matchup with the Sharks, the Calgary Herald reports.
Analysis: Jonas Hiller got off to a blazing start to the season but cooled down in November, giving up at least three goals in his previous seven games. Karri Ramo has won his last six appearances, so Hiller is now the backup for all intents and purposes.

Hiller, Flames Doused By Ducks

News: Jonas Hiller allowed three goals on 29 shots in Tuesday's loss to the Ducks.
Analysis: Jonas Hiller's forceful stat correction continues -- he's given up three or four goals in seven consecutive starts, a stretch that's pushed his GAA and save percentage right into line with last year's production.

Flames' Hiller To Start Tuesday

News: Jonas Hiller will start in net Tuesday against the Ducks, Randy Sportak of the Calgary Sun reports.
Analysis: The Flames laid out their goalie plan through next Wednesday, slotting in Jonas Hiller on Tuesday. He will carry a a 2.45 GAA and .914 save percentage into the matchup, looking to reach a double-digit win total on the season.

Flames' Hiller Allows Four In Loss

News: Jonas Hiller gave up four goals on 22 shots in Thursday's loss to the Blackhawks.
Analysis: Despite not playing well, Jonas Hiller was at least on the way to taking this one to overtime and getting a point until Patrick Kane scored in the middle of the third period to untie it. The 32-year-old netminder has now finished with a sub-.900 save percentage in four consecutive starts, giving up 14 goals in that span. He can thank the Calgary offense for the couple wins he's pulled out while doing so.

Flames' HIller Will Start Thursday

News: Jonas Hiller will start in goal Thursday against Chicago, Kristen Odland of the Calgary Herald reports.
Analysis: Jonas Hiller has struggled a bit recently, allowing three or more goals in four of his last five games, but will look to add his 10th win of the season Thursday.

Hiller, Flames Rally To Shootout Win

News: Jonas Hiller stopped 24 of 27 in Tuesday's 4-3 shootout victory over the Ducks.
Analysis: Not the best outing for the Swiss goalie, but it works. The Flames rallied from a 2-0 deficit to go ahead with a trio of third-period goals, only to see Jonas Hiller give up the game-tying goal in the final five minutes, But hey, he held the fort in the shootout and picked up the win. Hiller has been pretty rough lately overall, though -- despite having won six of eight, he's allowed three or more goals in six of those games.

Flames' Hiller Will Start Tuesday

News: Jonas Hiller will start in net against the Ducks on Tuesday, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 reports.
Analysis: Jonas Hiller has been a pleasant surprise for the surging Flames, and he'll try to add another win to his 8-4-1 record against his former team Tuesday.

Flames' Hiller Good Enough To Win Thursday

News: Jonas Hiller allowed three goals on 23 shots in Thursday's 5-3 victory over the Coyotes.
Analysis: While he started the year hot, Jonas Hiller has not been playing terribly well lately, having given up 11 goals in his last three starts. He hasn't had a truly above-average fantasy performance since giving up one goal on 19 shots Oct. 31 against Montreal, but he remains Calgary's primary goalie.

Flames Starting Hiller Thursday

News: Jonas Hiller will start in net Thursday against the Coyotes, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The FAN reports.
Analysis: Jonas Hiller allowed four goals against the Hurricanes on Monday, but will get the call in net again Thursday. He will face a Coyotes offense that is bottom five in the league in goals/game.

Flames' Hiller Suffers Loss

News: Jonas Hiller surrendered four goals on 31 shots in Monday's 4-1 loss to the Hurricanes.
Analysis: The four goals matched a season high for Jonas Hiller, but he faced more shots both of the other times. Still, he's off to a good start and with the surprisingly strong play in front of him, Hiller's 7-4-1 on the year so he could regain his form at home after five consecutive appearances on the road.

Flames Roll With Hiller Monday

News: Jonas Hiller will start in net against the Hurricanes on Monday.
Analysis: Jonas Hiller was given the day off Saturday but was sent into action after Karri Ramo allowed four goals part way into the second period. He made all nine save chances, and should continue to receive most of the starts moving forward.

Flames' Hiller Picks Up Win In Relief

News: Jonas Hiller entered Saturday's game against the Panthers in relief of starter Karri Ramo, holding the opposition off the scoreboard to earn his seventh win of the season.
Analysis: After allowing his fourth goal of the afternoon in the second period, Ramo was given the early hook, despite the Flames only trailing by one score. Jonas Hiller would then enter the game and go a perfect 9-for-9 on save chances, while watching his teammates support him with three third-period goals. Ramo's flat performance Saturday in contrast with Hiller's excellence will only serve to further entrench Hiller as the Flames' top option in the crease.

Hiller, Flames Deflated In Loss

News: Jonas Hiller gave up a season-high-tying four goals on 32 shots in Thursday's 5-2 loss to the Lightning.
Analysis: So ends his streak of three straight wins and six of seven. Jonas Hiller started the year white-hot, but since he's posted save marks of .910, .913 and .911 in the last three seasons, the .935 he entered Thursday's action with seems rather unsustainable. This could be the beginning of a regression to the mean, although the Flames have looked surprisingly strong, so Hiller should at the very least retain more fantasy value than we thought he'd have entering the season.

Jonas Hiller

Flames Go With Hiller on Thursday

News: Jonas Hiller will be in the crease Thursday against the Lightning, Sportsnet.ca reports.
Analysis: The red-hot Jonas Hiller will make his fifth consecutive start in the net, as the Flames have firmly committed to him as their No. 1 goalie after some uncertainty earlier in the season. With a 6-0-1 record and .946 save percentage over his last seven starts, it's hard to argue with coach Bob Hartley's decision to keep riding him. The high-scoring Lightning should present a reasonable litmus test to determine whether Hiller's early-season dominance is for real.

HIller, Flames Come Back For OT Win

News: Jonas Hiller put a stop to 31 of 34 shots in Thursday's overtime victory over Washington.
Analysis: That's now six wins and an overtime loss in the last seven starts for Jonas Hiller, who's simply been a revelation for the Flames this season after washing out as the starter in Anaheim. He's a must-play in fantasy while he and the Flames are rolling like this.

Flames' Hiller Will Start Tuesday

News: Jonas Hiller will start between the pipes Tuesday against the Capitals, Adam Vingan of the Washington Post reports.
Analysis: Jonas Hiller has been excellent so far this season, going 5-2-1 in eight starts, and 4-0-1 over his last five. His .938 save percentage and 1.84 GAA are both top five in the league, and he'll look to keep it up Tuesday.

Flames' Hiller Picks Up Win

News: Jonas Hiller stopped 18 of the 20 shots he faced in Sunday's 6-2 victory over the Canadiens.
Analysis: Jonas Hiller has been strong in net this season, earning him the No. 1 spot in net. He's 5-2-1 on the year and has allowed just eight goals in his past six outings. For the time being, Hiller's been one of the top options in net across the entire league this year.
