Flames Yank Hiller In Opening Loss To Ducks

News: Jonas Hiller was pulled early in the second period Thursday in Game 1 after giving up three goals on 14 shots against the Ducks.
Analysis: Karri Ramo wasn't a whole lot more effective in his place, giving up three goals of his own on 21 shots in relief. Jonas Hiller spent his whole career in Anaheim prior to this season, so he should be out for vengeance against his former teammates, but there may be no stopping the Ducks -- winners of all five of their playoff games -- right now.

Flames' Hiller Starts Game 1

News: Jonas Hiller will start in net for Game 1 against the Ducks, Roger Millions of Sportsnet reports.
Analysis: Jonas Hiller struggled in his Game 6 start, getting pulled after facing just three shots. However, he was solid in net for most of the series, and should start the second-round games as well.

Flames' Hiller Pulled In Series-Clinching Victory

News: Jonas Hiller was pulled from Saturday's Game 6 against Vancouver after giving up two goals on three shots. Karri Ramo entered the game and the Flames rallied to defeat the Canucks 7-4, eliminating them from the postseason.
Analysis: While Ramo was the hero Saturday, Jonas Hiller was the hero of the series, posting a .931 save percentage and 2.20 GAA. While it was a rough night for Hiller, the 33-year-old owns some of the best stats in these playoffs and should be in the crease when the Flames face the Ducks in Round 2.

Flames' Hiller Will Start Saturday

News: Jonas Hiller will be in net in Saturday's Game 6 against Vancouver, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Analysis: Jonas Hiller was solid in Game 5, turning away 41 of the 43 shots he faced. He's been excellent throughout the Flames' opening series, posting a 1.88 GAA through five games. He and the Flames will look to close out their series with the Canucks on Saturday.

Flames' Hiller Stops 41, But Takes Game 5 Loss

News: Jonas Hiller made 41 saves on 43 shots, but was stuck with a 2-1 loss in Game 5 on Thursday in Vancouver.
Analysis: The Canucks came in determined to force a Game 6, and they did so successfully by firing more than twice as many shots on Jonas Hiller as the Flames managed on Ryan Miller (21). Despite this loss, Hiller has had an excellent series, and it would be a shocker if the Flames don't roll with him again in Game 6 at home on Saturday.

Flames Stick with Hiller

News: Jonas Hiller is slated to start Thursday's game against the Canucks, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Analysis: With the team having earned back-to-back home wins to open up a 3-1 lead in games over Vancouver, it's no real surprise that the Fames plan to stick with Jonas Hiller (and co.) as they try to close out their opening-round playoff series on the road. Through the first four games of the postseason, Hiller has recorded a 1.79 GAA to go along with a .938 save percentage.

Hiller Stops 28, Flames Take 3-1 Series Lead

News: Jonas Hiller rejected 28 of 29 shots to deliver a Game 4 victory against Vancouver on Tuesday.
Analysis: Jonas Hiller's been masterful in this series, giving up just seven goals total in the four games -- and all of four in his three wins. He finished the regular season on a hot streak, and he's carrying it forward in a big way. Meanwhile, the Canucks -- favorites coming into the series -- seem to be back on their heels.

Flames Roll With Hiller On Tuesday

News: Jonas Hiller is in line to start Tuesday's game against the Canucks, Derek Willis of Sportsnet 960 the FAN reports.
Analysis: Jonas Hiller, who made 23 saves on 25 shots in Sunday's 4-2 win over Vancouver, will thus look to help the Flames extend their 2-1 series lead on home ice in Tuesday's Game 4.

Flames' Hiller Stops 23 Shots In Game 3 Win

News: Jonas Hiller made 23 saves on 25 shots in Sunday's Game 3 win over Vancouver.
Analysis: A great bounce-back effort from Jonas Hiller, who was pulled in Friday's Game 2 loss after giving up three goals on 29 shots. Aside from Game 2, Hiller has looked dominant in these playoffs and the Flames will continue to stick with them as they try to eliminate the Canucks in the first round. Hiller, who posted a .918 save percentage in the regular season, will likely be in the crease for Tuesday's Game 4 battle in Calgary.

Flames' Hiller To Start Sunday

News: Jonas Hiller will be between the pipes for Game 3 of the Flames' playoff series against the Canucks, Roger Millions of Sportsnet reports.
Analysis: Despite being pulled in Game 2 after allowing three goals on 29 shots, the Flames will once again turn to Jonas Hiller for Game 3 of the series. If he continues to struggle, Calgary may have to consider giving Karri Ramo a shot in net in Game 4.

Flames' Hiller Pulled In Loss

News: Jonas Hiller made 26 saves Friday but was pulled in the third period of a 4-1 loss in Game 2 to the Canucks.
Analysis: Jonas Hiller wasn't particularly on his game Friday, but there was an empty netter included in those four goals. Calgary was not shy about switching goalies throughout the season, so if Hiller has another rough outing Sunday, Karri Ramo may get a shot in Game 4.

Flames' Hiller Will Start Friday

News: Jonas Hiller will get the nod again on Friday for Game 2 of the Flames' playoff series against the Canucks, Derek Wills of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports.
Analysis: Jonas Hiller will look to build on his excellent performance in Game 1 of the series, in which he allowed just one goal on 30 shots. The Flames lack depth at goaltender, so expect Hiller to be leaned on heavily throughout the Calgary's playoff run.

Flames' Hiller Opens Postseason With Victory

News: Jonas Hiller was great in his playoff debut with the Flames on Wednesday, allowing just one goal on 30 shots as the Flames beat the Canucks 2-1.
Analysis: Aside from a Bo Horvat goal just past the midway mark of the second, Jonas Hiller was perfect in this one. He weathered several series of shot barrages from the Canucks, long enough for d-man Kris Russell to fire the game-winning goal past Eddie Lack with 30 seconds left in regulation.

Flames Turn To Hiller In Game 1

News: Jonas Hiller is slated to start Wednesday's playoff opener against the Canucks, Roger Millions of Sportsnet reports.
Analysis: Karri Ramo, who last suited up on April 4, is on track to back up Jonas Hiller, who previously logged 26 career playoff appearances while with the Ducks, recording a 12-12-3 record in that span with a 2.29 GAA and .932 save percentage. To date, Ramo has yet to see playoff action at the NHL level, so look for coach Bob Hartley to lean on Hiller's experience throughout the series.

Flames' Hiller Not Starting In Season Finale

News: Jonas Hiller will not start Saturday's game against the Jets, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Analysis: It was intimated earlier in the week that Jonas Hiller would receive every start for the Flames the rest of the way with Karri Ramo (lower body) unavailable, but coach Bob Hartley changed those plans after the team was able to clinch a playoff berth with a win over the Kings on Thursday. As a result, Hiller will pick up some rest heading into the postseason, while the newly recalled Joni Ortio starts a rather meaningless regular-season finale.

Hiller, Flames Eliminate Last Year's Champs

News: Jonas Hiller made 33 saves Thursday in a 3-1 win over the Kings -- his third straight win.
Analysis: The victory was a huge one, as it eliminated Los Angeles from playoff contention while simultaneously securing Calgary's playoff spot. Jonas Hiller's won five of his last six outings, keying the Flames' run to a postseason berth.

Flames' Hiller To Draw Nod Thursday

News: Jonas Hiller will receive the start in goal Thursday against the Kings, Derek Wills of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports.
Analysis: It's probably the most important start of the season for Jonas Hiller, as the Flames sit just two points ahead of the Kings in the race for the third and final playoff spot in the Pacific division, and one point behind the Jets for the final wild-card spot. With a regulation win, Hiller can officially knock the defending champs out of playoff contention, but his numbers against the Kings don't exactly inspire much confidence. Though he's 2-1-0 over three outings this season, he's posted a weak 3.15 GAA and .911 save percentage. Jonathan Quick is expected to receive the start in the opposite net for the visitors.

Hiller Boosts Flames To Crucial Win

News: Jonas Hiller stopped 22 of 24 shots Tuesday in a 3-2 win over Arizona.
Analysis: A crucial win for the Flames, who are fighting tooth and nail to hold a playoff spot. Jonas Hiller is expected to be back out there for Calgary's final two regular-season games, which will come against the desperate Kings (currently two points behind the Flames) and Jets (one point ahead of the Flames), and are thus sure to be hotly contested affairs.

Hiller Starting Flames' Remaining Games

News: Jonas Hiller will start the final three games for the Flames, beginning with Tuesday's tilt against Arizona, the Calgary Herald reports.
Analysis: Jonas Hiller had a standout performance Saturday against the Oilers, so even if Karri Ramo wasn't hurt, Hiller would likely be the starter Tuesday. He's been playing well as of late, and with the Flames fighting for their playoff lives, he could be in line for a good week.

Flames' Hiller Pitches Shutout Vs. Oilers

News: Jonas Hiller stopped all 27 shots he faced in Saturday's shutout win over the Oilers.
Analysis: It was an unexpected outing for Jonas Hiller, who entered the game less than a minute into the first period after starter Karri Ramo was injured making a save. While Hiller is 2-2-0 in his last four appearances, he's stopped an impressive 126 of 134 shots in that span (.940 save percentage). With Karri Ramo being labeled as day-to-day, Hiller, who owns a 24-19-4 record on the season, could get the call for these final few games of the regular season.

Hiller Forced Into Flames' Net After Ramo Injury

News: Jonas Hiller was forced into action Saturday less than a minute into the game against the Oilers after starter Karri Ramo was injured making a save.
Analysis: Jonas Hiller is 2-1 in his last three starts and could be in the Flames' net for the rest of the season -- the Ramo injury doesn't look good.

Flames' Hiller Plays Well In Loss

News: Jonas Hiller made 39 saves on 42 shots Thursday in St. Louis, but was stuck with a 4-1 loss.
Analysis: Jonas Hiller's mates didn't do him any favors, putting only 18 shots on Jake Allen at the other end. But despite the loss, it's a strong outing, rate-stat-wise, for the veteran goalie. He had a very good March, and his April's off to a promising start.

Flames Stick With Hiller On Thursday

News: Jonas Hiller is slated to start Thursday's game against the Blues.
Analysis: Jonas Hiller will thus make his third straight start for the Flames, who compiled a 9-3-3 record in March, a month that was capped by back-to-back triumphs by a combined tally of 10-5, both backstopped by Hiller.

Flames' Hiller Victorious For Second Straight Game

News: Jonas Hiller stopped 33 of 36 shots in Monday's 5-3 triumph over the Stars.
Analysis: Quite an impressive outing for Jonas Hiller, who also earned the victory against Nashville on Sunday. He now has 23 wins, a .914 save percentage and 2.44 GAA in 48 games this season, and figures to see at least a couple more starts in the near future after banging off these two impressive wins.

Flames Turn to Hiller On Monday

News: Jonas Hiller will start Monday's game against the Stars.
Analysis: The Flames will stick with Jonas Hiller, who stopped 27 of 29 shots in Sunday's 5-2 win over the Preds. He'll take aim Monday at a Dallas squad that has has won five of its past six games.
