Curry Recalled By Wild On Tuesday

News: John Curry was recalled from AHL Iowa on Tuesday, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: With Iowa's season coming to a close over the past weekend, John Curry will join the Wild to serve as the team's emergency fourth goaltender during the postseason. Barring a rash of injuries to those ahead of him on the depth chart, Curry won't see the ice for the Wild.

Wild's Curry Reassigned To Iowa

News: John Curry was reassigned to AHL Iowa on Thursday, Chad Graff of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Analysis: The move comes as no surprise, as the Wild traded the Coyotes a third-round draft pick for Devan Dubnyk on Wednesday in an effort to shore up their goaltender rotation. John Curry has gone 6-6-0 with a 2.70 GAA and a .920 save percentage through 14 games with AHL Iowa this season.

Wild's Curry Struggles In Relief Outing

News: John Curry replaced a struggling Niklas Backstrom in the third period of Monday's loss to Pittsburgh. He gave up a goal on two shots.
Analysis: Despite Backstrom's recent struggles (30 goals in his last eight starts), head coach Mike Yeo said Backstrom will start again Thursday. Still, if Backstrom has another poor outing, John Curry could get a chance to start at some point with Darcy Kuemper out with a lower-body injury and Josh Harding out indefinitely with a multiple sclerosis setback.

Wild Recall Curry From AHL Iowa

News: The Wild recalled John Curry from AHL Iowa Thursday.
Analysis: John Curry will take over the backup goaltender duties behind Niklas Backstrom with Darcy Kuemper (undisclosed) landing on injured reserve Thursday. Curry started one game for the Wild earlier this season and gave up four goals in an overtime loss to the Jets.

Wild's Curry Reassigned To Iowa

News: John Curry was reassigned to AHL Iowa on Wednesday, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Recalled from Iowa over the past weekend while Darcy Kuemper and Niklas Backstrom dealt with the stomach flu, John Curry ended up getting his first start of the season Saturday against the Jets, taking an overtime loss. Kuemper was healthy enough to return to action in the rematch with Winnipeg on Monday, and now it looks like Backstrom has fully recovered from his illness as well. As a result, Curry will head back to Iowa and will be on call in the event either goalie incurs some other setback in the future.

Crazy Bounce Sinks Wild's Curry In OT Saturday

News: John Curry laid an egg in a surprise start against the Jets on Saturday, allowing four goals on 23 shots in a 4-3 overtime loss.
Analysis: After making it through two periods with a 1-1 tie, John Curry got caught up in a run-and-gun game with the Jets, surrendering two goals on seven shots in the third before a bad-luck bounce in overtime (off the glass, to the top of the net, then off the back of Curry's head and in) handed the Wild their fifth loss in a row. This was Curry's first appearance in the NHL this season, and while it's unlikely he'll see any more time unless Niklas Backstrom and Darcy Kuemper remain ill or get injured, the Wild's goaltending situation is so messy that it seems like anything could happen at this point.

Wild's Curry Starting Saturday

News: John Curry will start in goal Saturday against the Jets, Elliote Friedman of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Analysis: Darcy Kuemper was expected to get the nod Saturday but it will instead by John Curry, who stopped 38 shots in a win for AHL Iowa on Friday. A reason for Kuemper's scratch has not been provided by the team, but Friedman suggested he may be ill.

Wild's Curry Recalled From AHL

News: John Curry was recalled from AHL Iowa on Saturday.
Analysis: An emergency recall earlier in the week, John Curry was sent back down Wednesday with the Wild seemingly confident that Nikolas Backstrom (illness) would be able to return Saturday against Winnipeg. As it turns out, Backstrom still hasn't kicked the bug, necessitating Curry's recall. Curry will serve as the backup to Darcy Kuemper against the Jets.

Wild's Curry Gets Reassigned

News: John Curry was reassigned to AHL Iowa on Wednesday.
Analysis: John Curry was an emergency call-up prior to Tuesday's game after Niklas Backstrom came down with an illness and was unavailable. It sounds like the Wild expect Backstrom to be back at full health coming out of the Christmas break, so Curry will head back to the minors, where he's been sharing goaltending duties with Johan Gustafsson this season.

Wild Recall Curry From AHL

News: John Curry was recalled from AHL Iowa on an emergency basis Tuesday, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: The Wild brought up John Curry just a half hour prior to Tuesday's game against the Flyers after Niklas Backstrom fell ill and was unable to make the start. He'll act as the backup to Darcy Kuemper on Tuesday, but the expectation is that he'll return to Iowa immediately after the game, unless Backstrom's illness proves to be more severe than thought.

Wild Return Curry To AHL Iowa

News: The Wild assigned John Curry to AHL Iowa on Thursday, Michael Russ of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: John Curry was called up just a day earlier with both Darcy Kuemper and Niklas Backstrom under the weather, but his reassignment is a sign that both of the Wild's regular goaltenders will be good to go moving forward.

Wild's Curry Will Serve As Backup Wednesday

News: John Curry will back up Niklas Backstrom in Wednesday's game against the Bruins, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: John Curry was called up to provide insurance with both Backstrom and Darcy Kuemper dealing with illnesses, and while he will not start Wednesday, he will work in a backup role with Kuemper still under the weather.

Wild Recall Curry

News: John Curry was recalled from AHL Iowa on Wednesday, Chad Graff of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Analysis: With both Niklas Backstrom and Darcy Kuemper battling stomach illnesses and uncertain to suit up Wednesday, John Curry will be on hand as an insurance option. It appears Backstrom's illness isn't as severe as Kuemper's, so he's generally expected to make the start, likely leaving Curry to serve as the backup.

WIld's Curry Assigned to AHL Iowa

News: John Curry was assigned to AHL Iowa.
Analysis: John Curry will share goalie duties with Johan Gustafsson at AHL Iowa. He's likely fourth or fifth on the goalie depth chart for the Wild, depending on Josh Harding's return from a broken foot.

Wild Re-Sign Curry To One-Year Deal

News: John Curry re-signed with the Wild on a one-year, two-way contract Thursday.
Analysis: John Curry found himself as the Wild's No. 2 goalie during part of the first round of the playoffs when Darcy Kuemper was unavailable, but wasn't really much of a factor. The 30-year-old is just organization depth for the Wild and figures to see most of his action at AHL Iowa, where he went 7-9-2 with a 2.62 GAA and .930 save percentage in 19 games last season.

Wild's Curry Stops 43 In Winning Season Debut

News: John Curry's season debut went swimmingly Thursday, as he held the Blues to two goals on 45 shots in a 4-2 victory.
Analysis: It's no joke to beat the Blues -- the West's top team for most of the year -- never mind to do it in your first NHL start since Jan. 16, 2010. It's telling that the 30-year-old John Curry's started just four NHL games in his career, but he did post a very good .920 save mark in the AHL this year. Still, Curry isn't likely to be on Minnesota's playoff roster unless Darcy Kuemper's injury lingers.

Wild's Curry To Make Debut Thursday

News: John Curry will be in the net Thursday against the Blues.
Analysis: With the Wild having secured a playoff spot, coach Mike Yeo will give Ilya Bryzgalov a rest and turn to the backup John Curry for his Minnesota debut. At 30 years old, Curry is past prospect status at this point and might have a difficult time holding down the Blues, who rank second in the Western Conference with 111 points.

Wild Recall Curry

News: The Wild recalled John Curry from AHL Iowa on Wednesday.
Analysis: John Curry will backup Ilya Bryzgalov, as Darcy Kuemper is still sidelined with an upper-body injury. Curry has never made an NHL appearance, but does have a 7-9-2 record with a 2.62 GAA and a .920 save percentage for Iowa this season.

Wild Send Curry Back To AHL Iowa

News: John Curry was reassigned to AHL Iowa on Saturday, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: John Curry was brought up as insurance as Niklas Backstrom was still dealing with some abdominal pain. That has apparently subsided and Curry will head back down to resume No. 1 goalie duties for Iowa.

Wild Recall Curry

News: John Curry was recalled from AHL Iowa on Wednesday.
Analysis: John Curry will join the Wild to presumably serve as the team's backup goalie Thursday with Niklas Backstrom dealing with some renewed abdominal pain over the last few days. With Darcy Kuemper seemingly entrenched as the No. 1 netminder, Curry doesn't have much hope of seeing any sort of extensive playing time while he's with the Wild.

Wild Reassign Curry

News: John Curry was reassigned to AHL Iowa on Tuesday, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: With a new two-way deal in tow, he can be called up by the Wild after the break if needed. Even if he gets the appointment to the big club, he's unlikely to see any starts. He hasn't made an NHL appearance since the 2009-10 season with the Penguins.

Wild Place Curry On Waivers

News: John Curry was placed on waivers by the Wild on Monday, TSN's Bob McKenzie reports.
Analysis: After being called up from AHL Iowa earlier this season when Josh Harding and Niklas Backstrom were both unavailable due to injuries, the club elected to ink John Curry to NHL deal in the event he's needed again after the break. Curry will head back to Iowa to get some more practice time before the Wild assess whether or not he'll be needed.

Wild Recall Curry

News: John Curry was recalled from AHL Iowa on Friday, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: John Curry is just expected to remain with the Wild for one day. Darcy Kuemper will make a start at AHL Iowa on Friday and is then expected to be recalled Saturday to fill Curry's spot.

Baby Pens' Curry Bolts To Europe

News: Curry signed with a German team, the Hamburg Freezers, and won't return to the Wilkes-Barre Baby Penguins, according to the Citizen's Voice.
Analysis: Curry found himself going nowhere fast with Brad Thiessen, the AHL goalie of the year, in front of him. Pittsburgh has another youngster, Patrick Killeen, who might serve as Thiessen's backup in 2011-12.

Penguins Reassign Curry

News: The Penguins reassigned Curry to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Wednesday, the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Curry was recalled as insurance while Brent Johnson was dealing with a groin injury.
