Jets Trade Esposito to Panthers

News: Esposito has been traded to the Panthers in exchange for Kenndal McArdle, reports the Winnipeg Free Press.
Analysis: In his 21-year-old season last year, coming off a torn ACL, he scored three goals and added 10 assists in 57 AHL games.

Esposito messes up knee again

News: The Sports Xchange reports Thrashers prospect Angelo Esposito, acquired from Pittsburgh in the trade that sent Marian Hossa to the Penguins, will miss the remainder of this season with the Chicago Wolves (AHL) after tearing the ACL in his right knee. Esposito missed most of last season in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League after tearing ligaments in the same knee.
Analysis: Esposito, the 20th pick in the 2007 NHL draft, appears headed down the road of the once upon a time prospects that never made it big. Clearly, it's not talent that is holding Esposito back but a nasty slew of injuries. He had no goals and four assists in 12 games with Chicago, so he was struggling to come back from his first serious knee injury. We wonder how he will back bounce a second time? Esposito should only be owned in the deepest of long-term keeper formats.

Esposito sent down to minors

News: The Thrashers have sent prospect Angelo Esposito to Chicago of the AHL. "(Esposito) worked so hard to get back (from a knee injury), it's pretty tough," Thrashers coach John Anderson told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "It's pretty difficult. It's the worst part of the job, but we have to get our numbers down."
Analysis: We weren't expecting Esposito to make the team out of camp, but that's not to say we won't see him in 2009-10. Esposito is working his way back from a serious knee injury after tearing his ACL earlier this year. He has a ton of talent, but is nothing more than a long-term Fantasy keeper.

Angelo Esposito

Esposito might not be ready for NHL

News: Thrashers GM Don Waddell, appearing Wednesday on FAN 590 radio out of Toronto, said he wasn't sure whether C Angelo Esposito, the 20th overall pick in 2007, would make the team out of camp, but that he would definitely play some games at the NHL level this year.
Analysis: Esposito tore his knee up in February while playing for his Canadian junior team, but is a month ahead of schedule. He remains just a long-term Fantasy keeper, as his status for opening night is questionable.

Esposito unlikely for training camp

News: The Sports Xchange reports Thrashers prospect Angelo Esposito continues to recover from a knee injury (torn ACL) suffered in February while playing for his Canadian junior team in Montreal. Esposito has been working out with a trainer three times a week and spends a lot of time in the pool as he tries to rebuild strength in his leg. He won't get back on skates until July, making it unlikely that he would be able to make the Thrashers' roster out of training camp.
Analysis: Atlanta picked up Esposito in the deadline deal that sent Marian Hossa to Pittsburgh in 2007-08. He posted 24 goals and 42 points in 35 games with Montreal (QMJHL) this season, which was supposed to be his last on the junior circuit. Now, it seems as though he will have to start the year in the minors unless he makes a miraculous recovery. Esposito remains just a long-term Fantasy keeper.

Esposito out for year with torn ACL

News: TSN reports that Thrashers C Angelo Esposito, the 20th overall pick in the 2007 Entry Draft, is out for the season after tearing his ACL on Wednesday while playing for his junior team.
Analysis: Esposito is owned in five percent of leagues, which tells you what a solid keeper prospect he is. Hopefully this injury was just a one-off thing and he isn't going to turn into an injury-prone player, but this is something worth keeping an eye on as Esposito progresses through the Atlanta system.

Esposito has 18 goals for Montreal (QMJHL)

News: Thrashers center prospect Angelo Esposito has totaled 18 goals and 13 assists in 26 games for Montreal of the QMJHL. He recently returned to Montreal after helping Canada win the gold at the World Junior Championships.
Analysis: Esposito had a solid tournament for Canada and showed many people he might be ready to make the jump to the NHL in 2009-10. He is one of the Thrashers' top prospect and a nice long-term Fantasy keeper.

Esposito has 27 points in juniors

News: Thrashers center prospect Angelo Esposito has managed 15 goals and 12 assists in 21 games for Montreal of the QMJHL (juniors).
Analysis: The 2007 first-round pick could very well be in his last season of junior hockey, but we aren't expecting to see Esposito in the NHL until 2009-10 at the earliest. He remains just a long-term Fantasy keeper.

Esposito off to solid start in juniors

News: Thrashers C Angelo Esposito has nine points in his first eight games this season with the Montreal Juniors.
Analysis: Esposito is likely a season or two away from making a big Fantasy impact, so continue to ignore him in seasonal leagues. Right now, Esposito is more of a long-term keeper.

Thrashers ink prospect Esposito

News: The Thrashers signed C Angelo Esposito to a multi-year contract Friday. Esposito, originally selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the first round of the 2007 Entry Draft, was traded to Atlanta, along with Colby Armstrong, Erik Christensen and a 2008 first-round draft pick (center Daultan Leveille), for Marian Hossa and Pascal Dupuis at the trade deadline last season. "The trade was initially a big surprise because I didn’t even play a game with Pittsburgh and got traded right off the bat," Esposito told NHL.com. "But I couldn’t be any happier at where I ended up. I was working hard this summer and my goal is certainly to earn a spot on the team. This is the first step in that process and I’ll just keep taking the steps to earn a spot."
Analysis: Esposito appeared in 56 games with the Quebec Remparts of the QMJHL (juniors) last season and finished third on the team with 69 points (30 goals, 39 assists). He was second on the Remparts in playoff scoring with 10 points (four goals, six assists) in 11 games. In 2005-06, he registered 98 points (39 goals). "Angelo needs to have that summer that will make a difference and turn some heads," Thrashers Director of Amateur Scouting and Player Development Dan Marr told NHL.com. "We’re being positive and patient with his development. He just needs to get physically stronger to become that good point producer in the NHL." Esposito is likely a season or two away from making a big Fantasy impact, but he could arrive in 2008-09 with a solid training camp. Right now, Esposito is more of a long-term keeper.

A. Esposito to Atlanta in Hossa deal

News: Penguins prospect Angelo Esposito, their first-round pick in last year's draft, was shipped to Atlanta on Tuesday as part of the Marian Hossa trade.
Analysis: Esposito has 55 points in 48 games in the Quebec Major Juniors Hockey League this season, which is far cry from the 98 he put up in his rookie season of 2005/06. Whether the Penguins had given up on the youngster is always going to be debated, but surely the Thrashers will take their time with him to see if he has what it takes to be an NHL player. On potential alone, he still has Fantasy value in keeper formats.

Esposito has 18 goals at QMJHL

News: Angelo Esposito has 18 goals and 19 assists in 28 games with Quebec in the Quebec Major Juniors Hockey League this season.
Analysis: Esposito has been playing both center and left wing with Quebec. Esposito, the 20th overall pick the 2007 entry draft, is a natural center, but the Penguins want him to gradually get used to playing on the wing, given their organizational depth in the middle. Grab the 18-year-old in larger keeper leagues.

Angelo Esposito draws praise

News: The Sports Xchange notes: Director of amateur scouting Jay Heinbuck recently praised the work of first-round pick Angelo Esposito, who has scored three goals and recorded eight assists in eight games with the Quebec Remparts of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
Analysis: Esposito has been playing both center and left wing with Quebec. Esposito, the 20th overall pick the 2007 entry draft, is a natural center, but the Penguins want him to gradually get used to playing on the wing, given their organizational depth in the middle.
